Hi, in earlier poser versions, I have Poser 6 for example, when you import a background image to use in your renders, the background image was showed in the preview window, so you can pose your poser models using the BI as a guide, and then render, but this process seems not be the same in Poser 2012, I import the Background image and Poser 2012 render it , but it is not showed in the preview window.
Is there any tip about it ?
Thank you.

It works for me
Are you sure that in the Display menu "Show Background picture" is checked?
adh3d posted Thu, 13 March 2014 at 12:03 PM
Yes, It is checked, It is a very odd thing.
When I want to make a render with a background image now, I have to setup it in Poser 6 and then open the scene in Poser 2012 to render.

go to Material Room, Advanced interface, select Background in the objects selector.
The BG Picture node in there
should be connected to the (Color slot of the) Background node
should ref the required image
To see it in render, the Render Over: Background Picture should be selected in Render Settings too.
The menu File > Import > Background Picture does handle all these things for you, but one never knows.

Hi, thaks for the answer, but this way, by hand, I have the same problem, the background works in the render but not in the preview window.
aRtBee posted Thu, 13 March 2014 at 2:46 PM
have you tried a different image, perhaps it's size of format.
You know, I've tried all sorts of things for this, but I just cannot have a background image in render which is not in preview too. I can have it in preview but not in render, but that's not the issue.
perhaps some screengrabs of matRoom, RenderSettings and scene layout might trigger some ideas at anyone. As I'm on Pro 2014, it might be a Pro2012 issue specifically. Are you on the latest SR? As I'm a bit clueless here, sorry.

I coul never get the background to fit the screen window.. Always borders. Background is 3000x4000 so should fit in 1104x720.. Someone suggested opening a primitive and adding the background to that. Doesnt work as it gets all distorted when trying to fit..

What do you mean distorted? When you place an image on a plane, you scale your X & Y to the resolution of the image. Then use the overall scaling to correctly size it to your scene.
vitachick posted Fri, 28 March 2014 at 2:59 PM
Seems when I scale to fit scene, background gets stretched too much and it looks terrible. The way I've done it is going into material room and apply the image. Am I doing this wrong? Just importing the image it never fits the window..

forget above posts Found something called Background plane where you can add your own image. No distortion when enlarged..
Sorry..

Could you explain where to find a background plane and how to use it?
