Okay what you need to keep mind with DPI (Dots Per inch) is it is mainly a measurement used in print.

People do talk of 72dpi for screen resolution but think of it this way if an images is 100 pixels wide and a 100 pixels tall and you print it at a size of 1inch by 1inch then it is 100dpi, same image printed as a 2 inch square would be 50dpi.

So what you really need to do is to adjust the amount of pixels you render as the final dpi is dependant on the final display or print size of the image.

You can adjust the Pixel dimensions and ratio in the render tab. Pictured above.

Once you know what your target display size is then you can configure your pixel dimensions to give you the desired dpi.

For example for an A4 Paper size print the following pixel dimension give you the dpi:

A4 Physical Size: 210 x 290 millimetres

For 72 dpi (web) = 595 X 842 pixels
For 300 dpi (print) = 2480 X 3508 pixels
For 600 dpi (print) = 4960 X 7016 pixels

So by adjusting the Pixel Dimension of your image render you can adjust the DPI for print/display.

Hope this helps :)
