In small test scenes it's not a big deal but when I have a scene with multiple figures and props that I've spent large amounts of time working on, I want to scream when I open my scene back up again only to be greeted by everything being reverted to Glossy. This has happened to me way too many times already in multiple scenes and I'm starting to get frustrated. I tried looking back and seeing if I did anything wrong but I installed Reality 3.1 exactly the way the instructions stated, I'm assuming that Reality wouldn't run if I did something wrong with the installationg.

K, so I tried a few experiments, I saved a simple file containing a ball prop, a mesh light and the reality cube. The only material that was altered was the ball props and I let it render. I saved the scene and shut it down. I closed Poser down and opened it up again, the material was still as I set it. I did this a few more times and it was still edited, I give up, open up one of the scenes I was seriously working on, render for a bit and I had to close the comp due to a storm. I turned the comp back on and opened the scene and my materials were all Glossy again...

Reality renders look so awesome but I'm become disheartened with this issue. Does anyone know what's going on here?

If it helps:
Win7 Pro 64 bit, Poser Pro 2014, Reality 3.1/Lux 3.1

Hi.

Can you send me one of the scenes that is causing this issue?

Also, can you list all the products that you use in it?

Thanks in advance.

Paolo, the majority of my scene use assets that aren't out of the box, let me try and reproduce the issue on something that's purely stock Poser work and I'll send the scene over to you asap.

Thanks!

Great. In any case you can send me the scene and I should be able to find out what happens. You can find the email address in the Reality User's Guide (aka the RUG :))

Cheers.

I will watch this thread with interest as it has happened to me in the past.  Mine were not mulitiple scenes just one V4WM.  I could use the figure in Reality a few times then parts of the body would go back to glossy and some on the image maps would change to greyscale from colour.  Never happened on a regualr enough basis for me to duplicate at will and, as I only had one figure it was not a major problem for me to correct.  Strangely I cannot remeber other parts of the scene changing, just the figure.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I'm not sure if this issue still occurs, but are you opening Poser and then opening your scene? Or are you opening Poser by double-clicking on the scene? There was a problem with materials if you were using the second option.

Always open Poser first, and then open your scene from the File - Open menu.

Yeah I always start up the program first, my poser files are on a secondary drive so it's much easier to already have Poser open and just select the file from the recently used list, but I'll keep that in mind that it can cause issues!

I can't seem to get my simple 100% stock scenes to reset which is good in a way and bad because if Paolo can't reproduce the issue, I'll just sound like a crazy person. I did see the exact issue that hornet mentioned. I opened up one of my current scenes that containts non-stock content to adjust a pose and I noticed that two of the lights that should be there aren't listed and one of the two that were still listed reverted back to the name "Mesh lights". That's no big deal, I rescaned the scene, all the lights were back and I renamed them. All the materials seemed to be fine except for the reality studio prop which had reverted to its default white-ish glossy but that wasn't a big deal either. I'm just glad that those were the only issues. :p

I'll keep trying to get my simple scene to glitch, I just hope my computer isn't alive and doing this on purpose. D:
