**Welcome to the May 2014 Photography Forum Challenge**

** **Bill suggested a challenge for mobile phone shots - I like!
Jeff did a reflective 'selfie' and
many have done webcam shots.

Leave your DSLR at home and shoot with your phone!

**Please remember:
**Two images per member per week.
Image size: No larger than:
800 pixels X 600 pixels
and 200KB

cfulton posted Thu, 01 May 2014 at 7:44 AM

Here is one I did for the challenge...

A shot of my mobile phone taking a shot of me, taken with the webcam on my laptop...

Oh, WOW, this is a great idea, and I'm totally exited about your two entries, 'guys'!

BTW, If I may mention Clive: you look a bit like Trevor Pinnock, which is an English conductor and a musician. Maybe you are also musical (?)
And Jeff, you look just like the middle of the charioteers on your avatar. And I adore your beautiful house on the background.

I'm such curious what we become to see more.

Haha, Clive, then it's good you live in South Africa, and not in Holland.
If you ever come to visit us and you want to be clean too, then unfortunately, I will never hear you sing. :crying: @ Christo, nice to meet you friend. You indeed look a bit wild to me ,
and it's great you succeeded so well with that camera.

@ Tara, a very special shot, and your phone seems a good one to me.

I have no iPhone, or tablet, so I have to do it with my camera.
I will try if I can take a picture while I'm hula hooping. (don't know how this is written in good English)
But, wish me luck. :thumbupboth:

Oh, well, do I believe you????. I mean the fact that you're completely clean.
I give you the benefit of the doubt, Clive.
Although, I have no idea how it is with your nose (on the avatar).
There must be a reason why you keep it covered, right?
What will there be to hide? 😕

dochtersions posted Sun, 04 May 2014 at 12:31 PM

Today is the 8th, so it must be the second week already!  Here's another one taken on our drive through Wyoming the other day.  Again, minimal postwork ... less than I would have done with a "regular" picture taken with my big camera.  The results with a landscape are pretty soft.  So far what I've learned is that close-up images work pretty well with the phone's camera, and it's not terrific long range or in low light.  (I took a bunch of indoor people snapshots while we were in Kansas, and they're ... well ... they look like snapshots!)

I'm the guy in the almost exact center of the photo - the guy with the white box controlling my camera which is about 100 feet above me. Bill and Tara, you just knew I was going to do this..... LOL

You can also see Jo just in front of me (blue shirt). The structure is the famous 'castle' ruins at Haha Tonka State Park near Camdenton, Mo. We took a little mini-vacation there over the weekend.

The photo is actually a screen grab of video taken with my Phantom 2 Vision quadcopter. I had quite a few spectators for this flight, and they actually gave me a round of applause when I landed the Phantom right in front of the ruins.

Quote - While traveling through Wyoming, I thought of several ways to do a selfie.  This is me in the side mirror of the motorhome.

Hehe - this is fun, Tara! Looks like you got a good one! :-D

A closer 'selfie!' The Phantom is just about to land here - you can see me with the controller with my Ipad attached. The Ipad gives me a live view from the quadcopter, and allows me to control the camera. I can take videos or shoot stills with it.

Saturday was a beautiful day - nice and calm; a perfect day for flying and photography!

Such interesting selfies, Rod. Also the area looks very special to me.

Once again I held whole Wyoming in my hand, for our sweet Tara. Sorry friend, I wasn't able to wave at you. And unfortunately, it isn't me who is sitting on the horse.

auntietk posted Mon, 19 May 2014 at 2:08 PM

That's very cool, Jacomina!  That's Devil's Tower in the upper right, and Yellowstone in the upper left.  The cowboy on the horse is the image that means "Wyoming" to everyone in the country!  :)  It's on their official coin, and on their car license plates.  What a nice carving that is!

I drove through the Saguaro National Park, in Arizona, Friday.  I remembered to take mobile phone pics :)  It was an awesome place.  I wanna go back some time, earlier in the day or at sunset, preferably in the cooler months.  It was 105F, I did not go too far from the car when I ventured out!

Such an interesting info about what is to see on the carving.
Thank you dear Tara, I really didn't know this.

WOW Melinda what a superb capture, I love that large cacti.

auntietk posted Tue, 20 May 2014 at 11:27 AM

@ Jacomina:  I'm glad I could tell you about your carving!  :)

@ Melinda:  Terrific shot, and I'm glad it wasn't ME in the 105F heat!!   You would have seen a picture taken through the car window!  LOL!

Ha!  The Saguaro photo was almost taken through the windshield.  I was driving, stopped the truck, opened the door, stepped onto the running board and took my shot.  Then quickly dove back into the air conditioned vehicle!!

Yeah, I hear ya!  When we were on our trip, everywhere we stopped we had the same conversation:  "Could you live here?"  Sometimes the answer was a quick and resounding "NO!"  That's how I felt about the desert.  It's beautiful for a little while, in the spring, when it's only about 75F, but I could never live there.  Even when it's nice, the humidity is too low for me.  I whine a lot.  LOL!

My friend Dennis went fishing yesterday and caught his limit in record time.  He likes to show off his fishing skills!  :)

I converted this to b&w and did a bit of postwork because he was a little too backlit and his face didn't show as well as I would have liked.  He would say, "My FACE??  This was about the fish!"  (He had me text him the picture so he could show his dad.)  :P

@ Prisca, is this you with that helmet on an airplane? Rather sensational to see this.

@ Hi Andrew, you forgot to close your mouth, did you know that? Oh, but maybe you were waiting for something that would fly in.

@ Tara, what a cool photo from your friend, and fish! Are this trout he caught?

@ Martin, this is not a good publicity for the Netherlands, my friend!

dochtersions posted Mon, 26 May 2014 at 10:08 AM

How crazy can you do, when you finally succeeded to adjust the timer of your camera correctly?

Haha, shame on me.....is this me anyway?

auntietk posted Mon, 26 May 2014 at 3:47 PM

@ Jacomina ... yes, they're rainbow trout, caught in the lake just down the road.  We'll be having them for dinner tonight!  :)  You always seem to be having such a good time!  :)

Love the four-panel colored piece, Melinda.  Nice!

Wow!  I am really chuffed how this one has taken off this month!

Great to see you, Priska, Andrew and Jacomina!

I was always a Yamaha fan, Priska - owned (in this order) - XS400, XJ650, FJ1100, DT125, FZ750, XTZ660 Motard... sadly I spent 7 weeks in hospital riding the last one in 2006 - no bikes since then.

I hope the trout was good, Tara!

I took Brady for a walk on Park Island in the marina where I stay - while we were strolling, this lady was paddling while her dog swam behind!

@ Clive:  The trout dinner was delicious!  Fish is always amazing when someone else catches, cleans and cooks it.  Dennis' wife made a wonderful mini salad bar, and I made wild rice with farro.  Thanks for asking!  :)

I like the kayaker with the dog!  That's a great way to take the dog "for a walk" and have a different experience.  Very cool!
