I love the new look and the navigational improvements. My only complaint has to do with the color scheme for the pricing. Green on gray is very difficult to see and with my eyesight, I have to move abnormally close to the display to even see it. For me, this is a big issue. I would suggest changing the background directly behind the pricing to white.

You may wish to mention or make it clear that you can use an asterisk as a wild card in the search text.
I'm not sure the experience has been 'faster' for me over the past couple of days, but that could just be the fact that the system was being rolled out. Again I am not sure of the larger thumbnails for the products, but that is a personal aesthetic.
The revised store looks, however, to be a nice upgrade.
On the whole, a nice change for the better!

Thank you for this Front Page article. I've been wondering the past couple days how to go about making a comment.
Synopsis: :b_nervous: :woot: :woot: :b_cool:
On my first view, I was somewhat flummoxed and a little nervous, not sure how I was going to like the new website. Before the time I had finished making purchases, I had run across the Search My Account option. SOLD! Whenever I do a Search, I'll usually scan the other items purchased at the same time as the file I was searching for. This new process shows me pictures, so I don't have to bounce back and forth between the Account page and the Model Sales page (I can't begin to remember what a model was that I bought last month, let alone last year and earlier). A very cool update.
It's probably the background, but there is definitely a softer less assaulting color to the page. My old eyes thank you.
You've had my loyalty for a few years now, and with your new Prime Membership and now this newly designed Website, I see it lasting for at least a few more years.

Thank you for mentioning that. I just made a comment, but did forget how difficult green on gray was for me (making me, too, get really close to the monitor). Green is a difficult color to keep from fading away. For my eyes, white can be glaring when in the middle of the surrounding gray, but a lighter gray or even a pastel green might work. Overall, though -- it's a complete thumbs up for me.

Chrome, Windows 8.1, 4K screen
Fonts on the product pages (product descriptions) are way too small compared to the promo picture on a 4K screen. If you scale the window to a font size comparable to the forum fonts, you will get a product picture which fills two screens
Search results are very poor (unless you dumped 90% of the items). Selected Essentials, Clothing, V4 and search for swimsuit yields 4 results.
Browsing the catalog is a lot more difficult. There are only very broad categories without being able to distinguish things like textures, meshes, male. female, v4/genesis. You have to use a search term before any options become available and that only displays a very small subset (see above)
There is no longer a clear distiinction between sponsored items and new items on the What's new page
The main marketplace shows no titles anymore for products - makes you guess what it is, what it is for and what it belongs to
The color choices (brown/red on a dark green background) are hard to read
The updated list no longer sorts across pages. So I have to press 150 times next page to see if there are any updates. Pretty clearly a bug
Renpatsu posted Tue, 24 June 2014 at 2:25 PM
To be honest, not sure if this is a bug or feature: The layout is way too large on Chrome / Mac OS X. When I have to turn the head while reading the web site on full screen and have to scroll an enormous amount to even see the first page of new items, then it gets very tedious to read the web page. Just in case I will also add this to the bug thread.
Additionally, IMHO, clicking on a product should not open a new tab. If I want a new tab I use the ctrl / cmd key to force it in the browser - as a user's choice. IMHO it is bad form by a web site to force a new tab in your own domain in this way.

I have - and have always had - my browser at less than full screen width on my laptop. Not far off - well over 4/5 screen width - but not quite full so i can keep an eye on other things while browsing. And this new shop layout - like the new freestuff - only displays TWO items per line with my brower at the width I use, as against 4 at full width (why it doesn't display 3, when the gap i leave alongside is less than the width of one shhop item under this new shop display scheme I don't know). This is not acceptable to me - FAR too much scrolling to see the new items only two at a time. Nor will I be dictated to by this one website alone to have to use full screen on it when I don't - and don't have to - on any other site.
Every major change to the Renderosity website and in particular to the display of the shop over the last ... three, I think, has been a major step backwards for me in terms of design and user friendliness. This one is the final step right back over the edge of the cliff, for me. It is unusable, so I won't be using it. Each previous change has made things worse for me, and I've bought less after each change. Less has now reached zero.
I'll keep browsing in to look at the top of the 'new items' page to see if a change has happened to make the display usable again (i.e. 4 items at least per line at my chosen browser width), but unless and until I see such a change has happend, I won't be looking at the items or buying anything.
I'm not holding my breath. It is my experience over many years browsing many sites, that after a site redesign, no site designer, and no executive who approved the new design, will EVER, EVER admit they were wrong and roll back the change. After all, that would be admitting responsibility for a mistake, and for wasting time and money. They will NEVER admit that, and just hunker down, ignore the criticism and bank on the users to eventually give up complaining and just get used to the new mess they've created. I expect that here, now.
Well, not this user this time. Unless and until the shop (and freestuff) display arrangement changes to something that is usable for me, I'm done here. What used to be a pattern of frequent buyiing here by me has already been reduced to 'infrequent' by previous changes; now it's zero. Of those of my favorite sellers who also have their stuff at other stores: I may buy from you there. For those who sell only here: thanks, good luck, and sadly goodbye.
will2power posted Tue, 24 June 2014 at 2:33 PM
The breadcrumbs at the top of the marketplace don't drill down as far as they used to anymore. It used to be that you could go all the way down to the figure to browse generally what is available. So I could spend time looking at M4 stuff or Tyler stuff without having to sift through a lot of other stuff. I understand that when you search, you can do that from the side bar, but we used to have the ability to browse with a bit more efficiency that is gone now. I almost everything else that has been improved though. And speaking from someone who's a bit older, I think the new larger looking screens in chrome are much easier on my eyes.
Renpatsu posted Tue, 24 June 2014 at 3:11 PM
Since I just learned that this is indeed the intended layout, I am posting the feedback here.
With all due respect, my shopping here will be limited in the future. This layout is pretty much unusable - it is unbelievable to even call this remotely intended. If those are "thumbnails" then Goliath must have done the web design.
Two rows of items and four items each row on a full screen Chrome browser is inappropriate and unacceptable. This marketplace is the only web site literally forcing me to go full screen with my browser - there is just no other word than unacceptable.
TheMystEra posted Tue, 24 June 2014 at 3:29 PM
Guess I should have posted this here and not in the comments... sorry :)
Is there a possiblity to implement the Figures back in to the selection when - as an example - one follows the path of 3D Figure Essentials-Characters (or clothing or whatever) ... so that after the second selection one can use a third selection for the Figure (like V4, Genesis, Mavka...)?
That would really help with finding what I'm looking for. The search itself isn't bad, with the new sidebar it is really upgraded, but when I'm looking for Clothes of a special style or a character for Michael 4, it's not really to much help. Because I'm not looking for a character, clothing, hair (etc) with a certain name... and I guess just entering "hair" or "character" into the searchfield will not necessarily show all the possible results?
Thanks for considering :)

Not many things are more fraught with anticipatory nerves, than asking for comments/feedback on just about anything, new Web page layout included.
In the few posts so far, one wants 4 items available, while another individual finds 4 too many and wants 2. One complaint was about the size of the thumbnails being way too large, while another individual (and, myself) appreciate a thumbnail which is big enough for we poorly-sighted to actually see what it is. These are just a few things where disagreement between posters is seen.
Good luck, Rendo. Hope nobody succumbs to the "bad vibes vapors."
DaWaterRat posted Tue, 24 June 2014 at 3:38 PM
Search may be easier, but I don't find the categories logically named or well organized. For example "add ons" presumably covers morphs and textures for hair and clothes, but should therefore be a sub category each of Hair and Clothes, not it's own category with subcategories for Hair and Clothes.
I'm not thrilled that browsing by the categories I look for now requires a search, but it is better than having the figure type after the type of item (so glad you got rid of that). I find the default cateogries for browsing are overly broad and badly labeled.
Reaper99 posted Tue, 24 June 2014 at 3:40 PM
As some others said, the thumbnails are way too big. Tried it on Chrome and Opera and without zooming out the page i get about 4 items per row.
Makes it a real hassle to browse anything.

Wow! I like it! Especially the new navigational system and the "purchases" link with the expandable views for each order. I don't have any problems with any of the colors as so many other have reported, although I do have very high end large monitors.
The only thing that I don't like is that the thumbnails for products are two different sizes. I'm assuming this is to get more money out of vendors by charging a higher price for them to get a larger thumnail on the product list pages. The problem is, when you have a row of 4 products and one or two of the thumbnails are larger, it's distracting and a little annoying. I want to scan across the row of products but my eye is natually drawn to the larger thumbnails making it harder to scan the products quickly to see if there is something new I like in the smaller thumbnails.
Other than that, I love the update.

The site may be quicker, but the design/layout takes up too much space, as I can only see two 'thumbnails' at a time if I don't go fullscreen with my browser. The item pages are set up much too large as well.
Plus for having the cart/wishlist buttons at the top of the item page as well - with the overly large setup that might save some scrolling.

I do not like a SINGLE thing about the new layout, and aside from the people with vision problems, I cannot comprehend how anyone could like a single thing about this, unless they're masochistic.
Please implement CCS options so that we can choose our layout, without the loss of category functionality that you plan to implement. That way, those of us who liked the old layout can choose that, and people can also choose a layout that is optimized for their monitor or device. If you are not skilled enough to do this, then I demand you hire someone that is-- yes, I, as a customer, and on behalf of all of your customers and vendors, absolutely DEMAND it, and justly so.
Also, make the sale font yellow, for crying out loud. I have the brightness and contrast at max and it's still difficult to read.
Otherwise, I demand you return the layout to what it was before, including the frame at the left on the vendor page.

I used to be able to open a page from my item list that would show all of my purchases that had updates by clicking the "updated" column header. This now only sorts the items on the current page.
Since I have been purchasing items here for over ten years it is not reasonable to expect me to check all my purchases for updates page by page.
Similarly I can no longer sort my wishlist by vendor.
Visually:
on the good:
Color scheme is easier on the eyes.
on the not-so-good:
I am not happy with what appear to me to be over large promo pictures on the marketplace pages when I am fullscreen. It looks like an interface designed for smartphones and tablets with touch screens.
Overall it just appears to me to be another redesign that we will forced to get used to in order to use the site.

Unless the thumbnails are returned to 25x25, I cannot and will not shop here ever again, and suggest that all vendors either pull their products and take business elsewhere, or open up a shop on another site as well. Again, I sincerely apologize to all vendors here who have become victims of Renderosity's redesign abomination.

Also, bring back the memory size list that used to be beside the name of the product zip on the download page. Not one of my demands, it's just annoying and inconvenient.
BTW, a warning-- If you do not have all of this crap fixed by the morningng of the 28th, then I am gone. I will clear my wishlist, and never shop here again.
The only exception to this is if you extend EVERYTHING until this is 100% fixed--
the date that prime membership expires, monthly render reward points, ALL of the sale dates since the day you implemented this abomination, EVERYTHING.
The morning of 28th hopefully gives everyone the chance to catch-up on missed sales, render rewards, etc.
For example, if someone's prime membership was to end 9 days after this reformat began, then I demand you extend it by 9 days after everything is 100% fixed.
I would suggest all customers likewise leave Renderosity forever if your Render Rewards and Prime Membership are not extended thusly in the event that things are not fixed by the morning of the 28th.
Oh, and just for the record, I have neither render rewards for this month nor prime membership.

I confess that I just spent a few minutes with the new shop by now... however, I truly believe that a "shop" should be accessible within a few minutes since a shop is a shop and not an adventure game, where the fun is to spend hours and days to figure out how to bypass obstacles.
Having said that I'm sorry to say that the new shop looks like a COMPLETE MESS to me. It's eye candy replacing basic functionality.
Sorry, but the main shop layout ("what's new") is just a nightmare. One aspect is that I actually liked the simple smaller thumbnails, because it was a perfect overview. One may argue that these thumbnails are "the bigger the better" (which they are not), but since the new thumbs are not just bigger but of a DIFFERENT SIZE one by one, the whole shop no longer looks like a well organzied shop but like an amateur blog where someone just posted stuff and bits and pieces without the slightest idea how the whole lot looks like.
But what I really dislike is that basic features actually got REMOVED! For example, I loved to sort my wishlist by vendor, which was a simple click in the old shop. It was a great way to have an organized look, especially since most vendors have a "theme" for their work. Unless I'm blind, this is gone.
But what's really bad: In the old shop it was easy to find all updates to purchased goods - just go to "item list" and sort by update. Most recent on top, look on the date, mission accomplished. In theory, this sorting still "exists", but it only sorts the 50 items currently on display. So in order to check all updates, the shop really forces the customer to step through dozens and dozens of pages, hitting the "sort/update" button one by one only to see the recent updates of the subset of 50 items currently on display.
Sorry folks, this has nothing to do with "I don't like it because it is new". You have removed core functionality and added some visual gimmicks. I understand that quite some of your users love this nevertheless, but I also must be honest to say that I don't...
woolfy posted Wed, 25 June 2014 at 4:07 AM
I just can confirm with head-shaking the previous posts about the new shop-desigin and want to ask you if you have ever tested it before publishing?
I use Win7Pro and FF 30.0, IE11 but I in the product views I get no detailed information e.g. Discription of the product and also no information about the vendor.
The design is confusingly, useful features are removed and far away from being user friendly or useable.
I hope that you get this regulated because many of your customers won't use it...

Don't like the new layout:
Link to venders store should be below product picture, not above (too much scrolling around to do)
A required product sometimes burried deep in the description rather than up under the product picture, along with Poser this and that requirement, where it's easily visible
Thumbnails below too big.
Too many button colors and it all seems very choppy looking because of the so dark background and spacing
Price and sale info needs to be brighter, again maybe background too dark
For whatever reason, just seems harder to shop. like you're fighting the page instead of being relaxed with anticipation
DreaminGirl posted Wed, 25 June 2014 at 6:44 AM
The new layout just looks chaotic when the thumbnails are not the same size.
And for the love of God, will we ever get back the 'Figure' search option? The very simple option to select a figure, say M4 or Dawn, and then get up everything that fits that figure, be it hair, morphs, clothing, props or whatever.. with further options to refine that search if needed.
The categories are also not very intuitive.. Say I'm looking for hair.. what do I select? 3D-model? 3D Figure Essential? Doesn't make sense to me at all!
I like the colour shceme tho, looks very pleasant on my monitor, but I can see how the green on grey would be problematic for some.

It was a joyless experience to say the least.
I can't find anything! I can't sort the MarketPlace by software compatibility, figure or really anything useful. If you expect customers to click on every new release to see if it works for them, I fear for your general future as a business.
The new look reminds me a lot of Myspace.
That is never a good thing in 2014.
Take a look at the big, professional sites in any field.
Amazon, Apple, Google, Cnn, and on and on and on.
White with black text. It's clean, natural and easy on the eyes. That's why they all use it. Renderosity should as well.
What has been done here just looks amateur at best. But really without basic functionality? Who cares what it looks like?
I will still supports my +favortited+ vendors here when I get an Email reminder. But I seriously doubt I will be doing any browsing/window shopping/spontaneous shopping here until some major changes have been made.
I do wish you the best of luck in that regards.

The Wishlist has become unmanagable. What was compact and easy to scroll through a week ago has turned into huge boxes with tiney text that is barely readable. To scroll just through one page seems to take forever. The easy to see Prime and Prime Classic Banners are history. Sorting by Vendor is history.
This morning I started looking for some items from a specific Vendor. I scrolled and scrolled until I said to myself "Who needs this. This is my Hobby and it should be fun. Life is to short to spend it scrolling through a Wishlist for an hour".
I also realize that I have to reduce my Wishlist to not more than 2 pages. 5 pages need to go.
Prime Membership is coming up for renewal. If there is no visible improvement in the very near future I will not extend my membership. Shopping and managing the Wishlist has become so time consuming and unpleasant that I am loosing interest.
When I look at this mess I dont feel angry - I just feel very sad. Renderosity was a place to go and relax. Shopping was a breeze. At the moment I have to force myself to take a look at the new items and I don't feel any desire to buy something.
Tim said that the small and large thumbnails are due to the fact that some vendors have not submitted the new thumbnail size. Were vendors not informed in time to make these changes before the opening?
I still hope that Renderosity can turn this around and make it a success.
IceEmpress posted Wed, 25 June 2014 at 10:42 AM
To be honest, while annoying and I hate it, I can tolerate the bigass layout of the Wishlist. The functionality is what kills me-- the "sort by" functions don't work (clicking does nothing) and there is no option to sort by vendor.
The bigass layout of the MP however is something that I cannot tolerate, and makes the MP unusable for me.
Tim said that the small and large thumbnails are due to the fact that some vendors have not submitted the new thumbnail size. Were vendors not informed in time to make these changes before the opening?
*It only matters to a limited extent, really. Some vendors simply are not active here (and some are not active in the 3D world at all anymore). I doubt those vendsors are going to drag themselves here just to make bigger thumbnails. So the different sized thumbnails, while it will become much less significant, is here to stay.

What happend to the SEARCH MENU and the OLD WAY of finding something specific...I USED to be able to click to find say, 3D, Clothes, then V4 or M4...etc... as far as I can see the "search" MENU is WORSE BY FAR!! The harder you make it for us to shop.... well... need I say more? I spend from $100-$200 a month here...THAT is going to change...if not vanish entirely! As another person here said: they have never ever seen you roll back changes! :(

however it shows that over 122 items have "updated" dates in the last three days (06/23-06/25). Really? When normallly the average is maybe 3-4 a month?
I do not know why the two biggest 3d sites both insist on shoving untested (or at least poorly tested) updated sites and stores on their customers (Just in case everyone has forgotten about the DAZ store debacle last fall).
I know in their usual mode of "we know you'll love it... eventually... after you realize we won't ever change back" we will have to live with the majority of these "improvements".
This is normal for 3d site "upgrades" I guess, but it is frustrating and is not a method to encourage any kind of customer loyalty.
I would encourage Renderosity (and others) to stop doing wholesale updates and actually test things like item lists and wishlists before pushing out a site with reduced functionality.

1: Your thumbnails are not a consistant size. This makes the page look very tacky. Basic UX says to use a consistant layout, and you are already breaking that.
2: Your search system seems to be very percise, and as a result limits the return set. Additionally, the left nav filtering does not appear unless you search, leaving it fully unavailable on the default page load of the marketplace.
The customer should be able to filter on any result set, including the default one.
The next part is going to sound a bit preachy, but really, it's getting old. I am a front end web developer for a major retailer (LLBean). I work on design, and coding with a sharp focus on personalization, promotions and A/B testing. In fact, I am writing this from a hotel room while I attend Google I/O which is one of the largest tech events of the year, and it's focused on performance, testing, mobile and wearable tech.
As near as I can tell, your testing methods are woefully inadequate. Granted bugs do slip by and enter production from time to time, but the last three major releases that have happened to this site have resulted in entire sections of the site not working properly for sometimes days. Errors of that magnitude should never happen on such a regular basis.
Additionally, it is fully evident that the staff does not know how to handle development and deployment. Proper development does not get deployed unless it passes testing. It can't even go to testing unless it's considered to be complete. It being COMPLETE prior to going to production is how you avoid this kind of feedback.
When you deploy code, it should be transparent to the user as possible. Sure, the layout may switch one time when they move from one page to the next, but this isn't a ongoing battle where customers continue to see broken content for days. You, as a company, should be able to force a hard refresh on the client side without forcing the customer to take action.
Further, it's typically done during off hours when the server load is the lowest so anything that may go wrong impacts the least number of people possible.
If for some reason it goes into production and it's clearly buggy, you should roll it back until a time all the known issues are fixed. If a company the size of Etsy can do 50 deployments a day, or Google can rollback an app update, there is no reason at all that this company can't revert code, unless for some reason you are not backing up the codebase before deployment to begin with.
I am telling you flat out. Fix your development and deployment steps, and you will totally eliminate 90% of the negative feedback you get whenever you update your site.

-Search improvements are a very good thing. Bad search is a problem on just about every mom-and-pop 3D repository out there, from DAZ3D to Thingiverse, so any and all improvements are much welcome.
-Unfortunately the search improvements seem to have come at the expense of the entire rest of the site. Suppose I need hair for Dawn, it used to be possible to pull up a all Dawn-based hair items for by navigating through categories, and then filter by models/textures/styles/etc. but now it's all been dumped in a generic "hair" category regardless of what figure(s) it's for or what kind of item it is.
-"Essentials" is a lame and overly generic tag that gives no indication as to what the item actually is. While it would be nice if artists included good descriptive titles and thumbnails for everything so you can tell from the name and picture that it's a prop, or texture or whatever, the reality is that it doesn't work this way and in most cases a Poser smart prop shows up the same as a V4 hair or Gen2 character morph.
-There needs to be a classic/compatibility mode and/or a LOT of rework for lower resolutions. Not all of us browse fullscreen on a >=1080p display and at 1200 pixels or less width the styling is a complete disaster. Two items per row, filters take up a full 1-2 pages of screen space before hitting results, colossal text almost as large as the old thumbnails, etc.
I understand where you're going with the site redesign, colors schemes work well and I'm sure it looks great on the 4K panel you guys must have used to smoke test. But the site is basically unusable for everyone else. The last two points in particular conspire to make it impossible to find anything at all, since category browsing is unusable and sale/vendor lists no longer have meaningful filters.

Likes: Button on product page shows if you already purchased. Big improvement because I no longer have to click to put in my cart just to find out. Kudos
Dislikes: Dark background feels unprofessional. White is better--just a comment. But I echo several posters complaining about the price in green. I CAN'T READ IT UNLESS MY NOSE IS ALMOST TOUCHING MONITOR.
Also, don't make customers angry. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE stop opening all those tabs. Stop it. Just STOP it. I know how to use the back arrow/button on my browser. I also know how to right-click and select 'Open in new tab' if I WANT TO. It seems every thumb I click on opens a new tab. Wasteful, silly, stupid, infuriating.
And, the joke's on you. In my browser I have a few tabs I keep permanently. DAZ3D, You, RDNA, Hivewire (others too but I keep the stores together). Sometimes when I close one of your forced new tabs I'm taken to a tab for another store. HAH!
Disclaimer: I know it was hard work for you and I'm not averse to change. I can get used to a lot but the items I mentioned are serious for me.

I didn't see the sticky where Rendo advertized the position of website designer, but I'm guessing it said something like "No experience necessary, just figure it out as you go".
Surely the purpose of this site is TO MAKE IT EASY FOR CUSTOMERS TO FIND WHAT THEY WANT SO THEY CAN BUY IT? Instead, the new design makes it clumsy to search and almost impossible to browse.
The approach seems to be that if you bombard the customer with enough come-to-bed-eyes thumbnails he'll eventually click on one just to find out what product it represents. If, by some chance, he has a use for it he might buy it.
BROWSING:
Why are the browsing filters so limited? I can't filter deeper than "3D figure essentials>Character" and I get 76 pages with 36 thumbnails per page, that's 2736 products. Only about 1 in 10 product names mentions what figure it is for, for the others I have to wait for a new tab to open each time. After 2 pages I say "Fuck this" and go shopping somewhere else.
SEARCHING:
I try a search for "Character", this time I get 3589 results, that's 850 more than 3D figure essentials>Character showed me - how does that work? This time I get filter options, hurray! (why didn't those options exist for browsing?). Why do I need to search for 'character' before I get an option to filter the results by 'character'?
The trouble is that there is no indication of how the filters work, can I filter by V4>Poser2014>Glamour>character, do they work together or does selecting the last one cancel the others?
There's no hilighted button or breadcrumbs trail at the top of the screen to show what filters are currently active. The only clue to what's going on is the "View All" options which come and go in the filter list - if you see it a filter must be active. Gee, if you were trying to conceal it you almost succeeded. If you were trying to make it user friendly I'd call it a fail.
Then, just to confuse things, some of the add-ons and props subset filter buttons are highlighted for no reason (they are already indented, no need for the lighter color).
Also, in my browser the white dropdowns at the top right say "Shop a specific v..." and "shop one of our t..." - unless I drag the browser window wider those buttons resize too small for the text they contain.
obm890 posted Thu, 26 June 2014 at 5:27 AM
Quote - --yes that is FIVE PAGES of derp before actually hitting results, and then only 3 items per page. Seriously, nobody is going to wade through ~50 items to find the one they want if this is what the experience is going to be like.
I also got that list view at first. Try hitting CTRL+F5 to force a refresh, it should settle down to filters in the sidebar and rows of thumbnails.

To be very blunt I hate the new market place layout. Huge images of products (only 2 to a row) mean hundreds of pages to click through. I'm using a laptop and it's now torture trying to preview items in the market place. In fact I don't even get past the first page. Please either revert to the old layout or rethink the new one.
The red, orange and green text on a black background is very difficult to read on a small screen. Make it white text on a red/green/orange box like you've done with the wishlist.
The browsing filters are (still) severely lacking. This is a long term issue. I need to be able to search by category like at DAZ. Clothing, figures, hair, props, environments, poses, M4, Genesis etc. etc.
And no spell check in the forum...crazy!
On the plus side I like the new wishlist layout. The product image size is perfect and this should be the size of market place product images. If I need large images of a product I'll go to the product page.
So far the re-design is 2/10 for me.

Quote - I confess that I just spent a few minutes with the new shop by now... however, I truly believe that a "shop" should be accessible within a few minutes since a shop is a shop and not an adventure game, where the fun is to spend hours and days to figure out how to bypass obstacles.
I have to agree with everything stated above.
I would add that bigger is not always better. If you need a closer look, what was wrong with the pop-up system you had?
I am on a 27" Mac using Firefox - and all of the information I need and look for (item on sale, regular price vs. sale price, etc.) on the item page proper, is now "below the fold" (think newspaper here - scrolling is the browser equivelent) and in colors that are VERY difficult to see against the mid-dark grey. On basic pages like the Prime pages or the Marketplace front page, I get just the main sales pitch - and damn few items to see - everything else is "below the fold." None of this is condusive to browsing.
On the front page or the Prime pages, I used to be teased with a grid of like 12 to 16 items to click on and get a closer look - now, no clicky, no looky. When I scroll, I just get crosseyed from being too close.
The wishlist is now completely unusable and if it doesn't change I will just delete the whole thing (I have something like 670 items in mine).
Pretty? Sure. Functional? Nope.
My 2 cents.
Looks like sales will suffer y'all... better address these things soon... I see many saying this.

I can't even view some vendor's main graphic with out scrolling. It's like trying to view one of your great animal textures but only seeing first the hoof, then the body, then the head, but never the entire animal.
If RDNA follows suit with "bigger" and "better" pages and thumbs, let's hope HiveWire3d doesn't catch this "re-design" bug also.
And LYNE, if you do move, let us know on your site or this one.

I too am having a bit of trouble navigating it. Having to depend solely on the search to find anything is not fun. One of the things I liked about renderosity before the updates just prior to this last batch, was the ability to view all the items or types of items from a single figure at once or narrowd. The way the listed items appear is set to newest to oldest by default. Thats ok but like I had said in another post, the sort options is lacking. No more sort by popularity, ranking, or best sellings. One issue that I still find is with the symmetry text boxes. I would also really like it if the way the categories listing is set up changed to something more compact. I find my self doing way too much scrolling.
KageRyu posted Thu, 26 June 2014 at 12:28 PM
I really dislike the changes to the wishlist. It is ugly, dark, hard to read, and much harder to sort and view at a glance. The one feature that could have been a saving grace (to set the number of items per page so I do not have to scroll through multiple pages) still does not exist. Also, I dislike these radical visual changes every few months. It's painful to have to keep readjusting to new layouts, and running into features that just bog down my browser on slower connections. I can no longer view the site at all from the coffee shops wifi (no images load, pages time out, because it's too bandwidth intensive). Pick a style and keep it for a while please.

Tried it on Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.
Windows 7, OS-X 10.9, iOS 7.
30 inch, 24 inch, 13 inch, and iPad.
The improved site is a disaster on all browers, systems, and monitors.
As so many others have pointed out, no matter what the monitor size, this site only seems to work well full screen. YOU ARE NOT WORTH MY FULL SCREEN! OK, moving past your fatal hubris.
When you try to move an item in your cart to the wishlist, the entire bright and garish window imediately goes to black, except for a small spinner (the spinner is miscentered and wobbles as it spins, too). It comes back as bright and garish four seconds later.
Full screen on a 30 inch monitor 24 inches away from the user, the effect is rather like the lights going out, and then, after a few seconds worrying in the dark, something explodes. It's so intensely jaring that it's almost painful. First time it did it, I wanted to duck under the desk.
(I'm not exagerating about it being like the lights going out. A modern 30 inch monitor has as much light output as an overhead light fixture. 10s of watts. You don't flash that at the user unnecessarily).
Proper human factors would have been for the spinner to appear on the existing screen, then disappear, since nothing on the screen really changes, except that the "wishlist" button you just clicked goes away.
There's no need to blast the user into the middle of next week with explosions just to make a button go away.
Of course, decent code wouldn't have needed 4 seconds to move an item from one short list to another, so even the spinner is unnecessary, but that's another issue.
The wishlist has a conventient feature where you can check a bunch of items, click "add to cart", and viola, you've got a bunch of items moved from wishlist to cart. The cart has nothing like this to move items back to the wishlist (you should be managing those two similar lists from the same code. Shame on you).
In fact, either the code is severely buggy, or your idea of a proper workflow is broken, because the individual "wishlist" buttons on shopping cart items add the item to the wishlist without removing it from the cart. You have to go throug a second "delete" operation, with a second set of "plunge into darkness then explode" delays.
Seriously, why would someone add a cart item to their wishlist and want that item to remain in their cart? Do you think they're going to buy a bunch of them?
How about this. You click the wishlist button, the item is pretty much instantly moved from cart to wishlist, and a gentle animation, taking under 1 second, closes up the gap in the cart list.

Hi Sherrie,
You can still go from one promo to the next. On the first huge promo go to the middle of it and hover over the right edge. A thingy will show - nor really an arrow - that you can click to move to the next promo. Really brilliant once you can locate it. Took me a while to find it.
Same with the shopping cart. I also looked for a total. Since everything is so huge I didn't see that it moved to the top of the page. Scroll up and you will find it. We have to learn to think big not just see big.

If you type in "hair" then you use the left side to drill down to your particular item.
So this is what I just did. I type hair, then Victoria 4, then select Anime and you get 8 results. Is this what you are seeing? Now remember we are still moving products in the correct departments and working with our vendors so that these things are properly placed. I understand it is different but we hope that the end result will be more effective once it is fully completed.

Sadly, you are exactly correct.
They simply blame it on an aversion to "change" rather than listening to the feedback they're getting.
But, here's the bottom line - you make it too hard to find what the customer is looking for and they'll go where less effort is required.
Now for my bottom line - if I can't tell who/what a product is for FROM THE WHAT'S NEW PAGE, I'm not wasting any of my time trying to find out.
As it is, I never go past What's New anyway, so making that painful only means less sales.

Yes I agree, I have stated it before. The only items I have purchased recently have been the ones that have been 60 percent off, and today was the last day of the sale. I don't see my self spending anymore money anytime soon. The worst thing is the real people getting hurt by this are the vendors. Which is why you see more and more vendors either having multiple store fronts or making exclusivity deals with other sites. Other sites who are more willing to admit when thay have made a mistake and are also more willing to work with the vendors and comsumer base because they know we are where their income comes from. What I would presonaly like to know is, When will companies follow one of the oldest guides to good business. If its not broken, don't fix it. Look at Microsoft. Everyone I know that needs a computer to actually work hates windows 8. Why, because its broken. They tried to implument some very stupid things and now no one wants the Xbox One. People hate the Kinect and now they had to release a Kinectless Xbox one for the same price as the PS4 and guess what is happening. No one is buying it. Another very important thing companies need to learn is, You are never too big to fail.

As others have said, the Thumbnails are way too big. They are huge, and some big thumbnails and some smaller looks very awkward and displeasing to the viewer. There should be uniformity in size and the thumbnails should be smaller, maybe half what they are.
Also on the product pages, the products promos are far too big. One has to do a lot of scrolling in this layout to see everything, and if I can't even see the promo picture of the item I am browsing without scrolling to see the whole thing, then scrolling more to see the price, the content, etc, etc, then I am going to lose interest and probably not buy that item.
I don't like the fact there is no frame around the product and decription below that separates it from the body of the page.
Please change the layout to something more usable and friendly and less ugly.

After playing with it a couple days I can safely say the only way I can deal with this is to "favorite" vendors and not browse the site. Based on the emails I may buy or buy not then, so vendors I don't got on my favorite list likely won't get any sales at all from my end. In the past I browsed quite a lot through the site, as one was able to get a quick overview, but that is not the case any more. Overall this "revamp" remains a quite amateur-ish attempt in my view.

WHAT IS IT? -not just 3D Model Essentials, that tells me nothing.
WHAT IS IT FOR?-- Poser, DAZ, Vue, Bryce? I really don't want to have to click to a page, only to find out it is for a software I don't use.
I too liked the auto close on the product previews.
And this may just be me, and a dumb question, but once I've drilled down, and can finally choose Poser as my software of choice I get too many choices.
Do I choose Poser 9, and hope that all the past posers items are covered or do I have to click each version of poser to see all the items in that catagory?
told ya it was a dumb question, lol
I have to say, I'm not a fan of the new marketplace layout at all, but I can live with it if some of these changes can be made.

Two improvements would still be desireable:
Changing the color of the Price to something we can read and
Bringing back the little Banners on the thumbnails for Prime and Prime Classics.
I am missing out especially on the Prime Classics. The red is very hard to read and the eyes have to move constantly from thumbnail to text. Back and forth until the eyeballs give up.
The little Banners were perfect and nothing got missed.

The Renderosity marketplace is garbage. It's been bad for a while but now it's pathetic. What is worse is the people managing the store are not any better. For those wondering if the site feedback is being taken seriously, it's not. I have been a member of Renderosity for a long time and I can tell you that they do not care what the people think, because the site will continue to make money. That is all they care about. The site feedback is pointless. It has never changed anything in the past and it's not going to. It's here for people to vent their frustrations and that's it. They say give the people working on the site and the artist time to adjust and finish fixing what needs to be fixed. Give them a few months and it will suck. Like I said before the end result will be the same. The customers are going to adapt to a system they don't like or move on to another market place. I personally wish I could purchase what I need directly from the artist and vendors and cut the middleman completely out. The site is ugly and hard to navigate. Those massive icons, I have a 19 inch wide screen LED monitor at work and a 28 inch LCD at home and those icons hurt my eyes on both. Apart from here where its black on white, the text is hard read and again hurts my eyes. Get use it people because this is things will be for the forseeable futuer.

So a lot of people here really seem to dislike the opening of new tabs.
So I wrote a Chrome extension that fixes it.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search-extensions/Renderosity%20Site%20Fixer
Only available for Chrome, this will, when on renderosity.com, allow you to click a thumbnail and proceed directly to the Product Page, without the Page opening in a new tab.
Hope those of you who dislike the current setup, find this helpful.
If there are other common requests which can be handled with JavaScript, let me know and I can see if I can add them to a future release.
If you find bugs with the above, please send me a PM and I will address.

How do you search for say..Characters for M4? All that is available in search is 3d Models>Character..then you have to sort thru every 3d model there is..
Searching is very difficult now...
JohnDelaquiox posted Sun, 29 June 2014 at 4:02 PM
Just type in M4 Characters
When ever you want something type in the Figure and what you want.
Digitell posted Sun, 29 June 2014 at 4:04 PM
Thank you! I didnt know this..so I guess we dont have to use the filters anymore..just type in what you are looking for. Thanks so much! :)
LithiumDreamsStudios posted Sun, 29 June 2014 at 5:18 PM
Digitell: Actually, if you type in M4 characters, you will be disappointed with a mere 63 items. Half of which aren't even character packs. If you want to filter out characters, type M4 in the search box, then scroll down. On the left hand side is a navigation pane that will help you filter out what items pertaining to M4 you are searching for.
Sadly, even this leaves out a significant number of the items available in the marketplace. I have to join my fellow concerned shoppers in regards to the "New and improved" marketplace. Some of the features are great. The wishlist improvements, for example, have thusfar made a significant impact for me when shopping. Unfortunately, a majority of the other so-called improvements have actually been a hinderance to shopping here.
The navigation pane should not only be available after a search. This should be a line item filter system available at any time on any Marketplace page. The search is still limited in functionality because if a product's title doesn't have the search term in it, it will not return in your results. This is a horrible disadvantage to the Renderosity store that has been a long time complaint. I find it difficult to understand why there is so much aversion to changing the way the engine calls and returns search terms.
I really wish someone with some clout would be reading and paying attention here, because having my go-to search engine for Renderosity be Google or similar, off-site engines... is sad, frustrating and borderline unacceptable.
(Also, a tip for those of you browsing via Firefox, if you find the content of a particular site to be too large or too small, holding down your Ctrl button while scrolling up or down with your mouse's scroll wheel can artificially force a zoom in and zoom out. You may find you have to reverse it when returning to other sites as they will be too large or small based on how much you resized things. I'm uncertain if this works the same in other browsers, but it should. You can use it to resize icons in folders and on your desktop as well.)

It was NICE to have the TOTAL I had spent for the month listed on the RENDER REWARDS NOTICE, - Even when I had passed the $100 mark...this keeps me informed about how many of my Prime items I can get 'for free' the following month (this is the way I use my rewards, primairly)
I am NOW confused about how to SEARCH a particular vendor's store...I could have sworn that Fabiana did a character/skin texture for Dawn... but I can't get the search to show it in the "search this store" at the top of her store page. Either my memory is faulty or the search engine is not working. I put in "Dawn" and got her hair fits but not much else...
AND the MAIN SEARCH engine seems to have been limited again. I put in Dawn Hands in trying to find LunchLady's hand poses... but the search would NOT work until I put in "Dawn Hand Poses"... I wish we did not have to be so specific? (that was the way the search engine USED to function!) Dawn and Hand should have done it?
I have no idea if some of this is a bug or not...so how do I know where to put it? SPELL CHECK worked in my posts BEFORE- it does NOT work now!!!!

I really don't like the new search to find what you want 'feature' at all. ;(
The old way was much much easier to find what you wanted and allowed you to browse categories potentially buying things you didn't even know you wanted.
Now you search, 1/3rd of the items you want to see actually show up (if you're lucky!) and then you get to sort that 1/3rd into even less results. I don't know, I can't fathom how this is better than before.
The more I use it, the more I hate it.

I posted my difficulties with the unruly thumbnail size images and vendor oversize images in the bug thread because it was so bad I didn't think it could be actually intended. The font color choices are pretty bad, too. I agree with the posters here.
The best way to describe the current layout is if you went to a movie theatre and had to manipulate someone's smartphone blown up to screen size with a mouse from the front row.
I'm starting to feel bad for Renderosity, which has become one of my favorite sites. At the same time it's kind funny watching a train crash, though, if I'm only an observer. I recognize that you have to move forward or die and smart phone purchases are another potential venue not to be missed. Apparently this may become a lesson how not to implement such a platform. Or maybe Desktop is really dead and my contributions are meaningless.
Under this format I probably won't be doing much shopping here (too painful), though I'll consider taking a chance and re-upping PRIME if there's a big enough sale in July.
PS I have faith if it is really bad Rendo will recognize and fix it. I feel they're listeners.

Images overall are way too large. I bounce around to different desktops from 29" to 15" monitors, from desktops to laptops to tablets, and in ALL of them the images are just too humongous to be navigatable.
Preview images of items are extremely large, and even on at 1900x1080 resolution you have to scroll up and down to see the entire image. What ever happened to lightboxing the images so they self-size based upon your system settings?
It is like somebody's first attempt at web design and did not know any of the tricks about self-sizing images, setting multiple display options to show more than 2-3 images per row in the Marketplace, and even sizing down the fonts and using "web-safe" colors. Back in the day sites were designed around 640 pixels, then 800 became the standard. Nowadays you can make a website designed around 1024 or 1280 and be fairly safe, but it looks like whomever designed this site had at least double that resolution or was working off dual monitors. "Know your audience" should be the first rule of the design...and in this case the site if failing.
If the intent is to drive away vendors and shoppers because they cannot find anything easily, congratulations, you have succeeded, but if you really intend for the site to be functional, realize some changes are not good, and there were good points to the old design. I'm not saying it was perfect, but it was at least functional compared to the current design.
Overall, three main things can make the site much more user-friendly:
Automatic sizing of preview images to suit different monitor resolutions
Ability to decide how many images per row you want to see
Go back to the old "breadcrumb"/filter/search engine
These three simple changes would eliminate the vast majority of complaints with the users.
And don't get me started on the forum font and space sizes!
DavidGB posted Mon, 30 June 2014 at 2:47 PM
Since the website change I seem to be being bombarded by emails from Renderosity about this or that far, far more frequently than before.
This is a waste of time - Renderosity's and mine.
I've just been comparing store displays. On my laptop, browser window sized as normal for me (full depth, near but not quite full width), I get:
DAZ3D: two rows, three items per row = 6 products
Renderotica: two rows, three items per row = 6 products
Hievwire3D: two rows, three items per row = 6 products
ShareCG (OK, not a store, but ...): 3 rows, three items per row = 9 items
Xurge3D: 3 rows, three items per row = 9 products.
But now:
Renderosity: 1 row, 2 items per row = 2 products.
Two. TWO. Two items per screen, and even that only after having to scroll down two screenfuls of sponsored items first.
Like another poster earlier in this thread, my health is such that I suffer pain using a computer, browsing .... SCROLLING. And the more scrolling I have to do, both the stronger the pain and the longer it endures. But now the Renderosity store and freestuff (the only bits of the site I normally use) require THREE TIMES as much scrolling as many other stores, even more than others.
Too much scrolling. WAY too much scrolling. Renderosity may as well not bother emailing me. I am buying nothing further here until and unless there is at least a display option that lets me see at least 6 items at a time in my browser window in the store.

Like most folks, these changes are not improvements. I suspect that the people that ok'ed the changes don't actually USE the store.
Quick question - Did you realize that you broke the customer's ability to check to see if any of their products were updated?
Example: I check once a month to see if any products are updated. Under the old system, I click on update, I would get every product that was updated - in order latest to newest. With the reset, I now only get the updates PER PAGE! I can only check 50 items at a time - why is that a problem? I own 2,335 items - which means I would have to scroll through 467 pages to see if I had any products updated.
With a store - functionality should be king, not eye candy. This isn't rocket science.

The readme issue is pretty sporadic. I've fund most of them if I click them a few more times, eventually a readable one appears...all the others are just XML text. I have a feeling that one is more database-related and may not need any coding, just time for all the readmes to cache properly. But yes, it is yet another annoying "feature" to the new changes :/

Renderosity seems utterly incabable of even conceiving of the idea of admitting they messed up, and are even less likely to return to the previous version that worked well enough.
It seems that with each "upgrade" (that being a very subjective term...) this site loses functionality. How long before we can only view Renderosity instead of use it?

It would be nice if the people who design the marketplace did not think "change for change sake" was a good idea. I know you get paid for doing things rather than not, but at least test it with some real end users first.

I can't make much sense of the search often since the narrowing down doesn't seem to bring consistent results.
Browsing is nearly impossible with the the non speaking categories and as said above I either have huge thumbs where going through Items is a slog or i can't read much of the text.

If I search more broadly for 'materials' I get some material options, but then I would have to click in each one to find out what kinds of materials are in them, wasting time. The 'drill down' options seem to be for figures and for the various versions of Poser, none of which really have much to do with my search. Also, there's lots of clothing, props, etc that are mixed into the search results.

Why is the 'Sort By' filter disabled for the sort of searches I want to do?
Regarding the much-vaunted new marketplace search - try to find a particular type of item in the marketplace within a specific price range. It goes well to start with - e.g. using the filter on the the left I can hone it down to 3D Models > Architecture > Buildings. 38 pages of items in a random order.
That part of the marketplace search I like. So now to sort by price...
Errr... why is the 'Sort By' filter disabled? Why does the 'Sort By' filter only become active after selecting Featured, Prime, Exclusive, Sale, or Clearance from the 'Filter By' filter? (New, Hot, and Ranking don't enable the 'Sort By')
Cheers, Pete
P.S. I do like the left hand nested search, and the keyword/vendor search. It's just that with a very limited budget price is the major factor!

Well, as I said in my first post in this thread, it's been my observation that website designers and the executives who hired them and approved their designs never, ever admit they were wrong. It would mean admitting and taking responsibility for a considerable waste of time and money.
The absolute killer issue for me remains only being able to see two items at a time in the marketplace (and freestuff), and all the scrolling therefore required. Other things irritate and annoy me, but that is THE issue for me. Given that the new horrendously oversized layout on the store pages is something actually listed and crowed about as an 'improvement', I haven't been expecting it to disappear (which would be an admission of a bad choice), but I've nevertheless been hoping - a triumph of hope over experience, I know - that they might quietly add a user display option that would get back to showing 6 or 8 items at a time in the space currently taken up by two if the user so chose.
Nothing so far, and my sense of hope is fading. What is NOT fading is my response to the current state of the site. I have not bought anything since the site change, and I will not buy anything until/unless the store starts showing me (with the selection of an appropriate choice if necessary - I don't mine defaults I can't stand being the defaults as long as I can choose otherwise) at least 6 items at a time (the new RuntimeDNA manages 8). And if that means I never buy anything here ever again, so be it.
And no, Renderosity - subjecting me to a veritable tsunami of multiple emails PER DAY every day of offers etc since the site change is not going to change anything except getting me sufficiently irritated I'll be unsubscribing from all the emails soon if this goes on.

Well, I have to agree that RDNA certainly did a better job with their redesign and likewise, I won't be buying much from Renderocity in the future because of the now extra effort to go through things in order to make a buying decision.

RDNA's store looks very nice now. I thought it was already very nice, but I love how contained it is. It doesn't spread out over the whole page like Rendo's design. It's organized looking. The thumbnails while a bit bigger aren't huge and I can still see quite a few items at a time rather than scrolling forver.
This place has become very depressing to me, lately. I wish they actually took our feelings into consideration. I have spent $0 this month, am on the fence about my prime membership.

My prime membership expires in the next few days. Since Renderosity did not even bother to respond to either the feedback in this thread nor to the PM I sent to TinaK, I am not going to renew it. I just spent my render rewards and will limit my purchases from now on to a few of my favorite merchants. No more browsing through the store, so no more new items from others.

We'd get a better response if we just PM'd our favourite merchents and told them why we were not buying as much as usual.

I did just that and it was one of the top merchants. She was not concerned at all. We should be patient and give Renderosity time to get it right. - Maybe it will take the merchants a little longer to catch on to the fact that many of their customers are getting tired of waiting for Renderosity to sort out this unprecedented mess.
Will they get it right? How long will it take? There is no communication at all. I wonder if the rest of the merchants are as confident as the one I contacted.
I renewed my PM but that was it. I am no longer browsing the store. Outside of two PM products I have bought nothing.

After some time here is more feedback. None of it positive.
As of June 26th I have not made any purchases from this store, I am still not planning to. Even if I were I would not be able to. The store is broken.
The layout still looks unbalanced and terrible
The site is a literal eye sore
The Readme files still do not work
Now several of the product promo images do not work
Several of the items that were hard to read are still hard to read
Items still open in a new tab and the site has not provided any means of changing it. Third party application not included in this.
The site search still sucks.
Just to show how much of a waste this thread has been, none of the user recommendations have been taken into account and none of the issues have been fixed
I wish I could complain to some one but on one on this site cares, not even the vendors.
I have started asking vendors if I can purchase directly from them.
I will not spend a single dime of money on this store, not even on sale items.
IceEmpress posted Fri, 18 July 2014 at 2:22 AM
The only thing I've bought since then is a single product from Poisen which was 50% off, and it was for 6 bucks.
I have no idea WHY in the world the webmaster wants dark red, skinny sale font, instead of the golden yellow, like "Smilies" right above the reply window here. THAT would be absolutely perfect-- not too bright, not too dark, not too unsaturated. I wish Tina would recommend that to the webmaster, and be able to convince him. The other option would be to keep the color but put the "Sale" font in bold, and make the font a little bit bigger.
That red, BTW, is even worse for colorblind folks getting something as a gift (I doubt many colorblind people make full-color art) Though I know such customers are an extreme rarity-- however, customers with vision problems have also complained about this.
At least on RDNA, I can fix the size problem with a Firefox script. Even if I did that here, there would still be only two products per row.
BTW, Tina, I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but the categories menu that's supposed to be on the left side of the page is at the top for me, even at full screen (again, Firefox 30, resolution 1024 by 780 or something like that)
Here is a screenshot, please note that it is actually two screenshots spliced together at full-screen. I think someone else in this thread mentioned this problem, but I'm not sure. I don't have any faith that any of this will get fixed, however. I'm sure this post will be ignored anyhow, even if by chance this thread isn't being completely ignored.
I think this system you guys have is simply too complicated to be user-friendly. People expect drop-down menus of the catefories and characters they want, just like you used to have, similar to what RDNA has, and even similar to what DAZ3D, TurboSquid, and Content Paradise has (that doesn't actually work in the lattermost's case)
I honestly don't know why you guys think this essentials setup was a good idea, esp. when so many people are complaining about it.
It seems at this point that the categories that we have now is what the Rendo staff intended, but you'll note that practically everyone who has commented here or on the announcement page considers this to be a bug.
Please listen to, and please, please try to convince the webmaster to listen to the customers's complaints and requests. The current (and clearly intentional) limited categories requiring a "search for what you want" setup is making the customers unhappy. In addition, I have yet to see a single customer who is happy with the sale font color. You really need to convince the webmaster to change it to a golden yellow.
These appear to be the two principal non-bug complaints that the majority of customers posting have voiced.

I wish I could continue to support the vendors without supporting the site. I have never been so hesitant to make a purchase from anywhere in my entire life. There are a couple of items in the store that I really want to get, but not from here. I swear, if the marketplace continues to go this route, it’s going get to the point where they are going to have to put banners up for software available on other sites just to get by. Click this banner to buy Octane, click this banner to buy Vue, click on this banner to go to a better store. I highly doubt anyone is venturing past the first few pages of the store. Ironman13 is one of the vendors I have purchased the most items from. She currently has a 30% off sale and a bunch of fantastic items that I would really like to get. Guess what. I am not going to. My financial situation is not as good as it once was. I rather give my money to a store that better appreciates. This site has made it evident and clear that they do not want my money. It got the point after the last batch of updates that one of the store heads told me that if I wanted to cancel my membership, I could. No one should ever say that to a customer, especially one that has been a member more than six years. I continued to buy from here but only sale items. That will no longer be the case. Had the service in this site been better I would probably be a prime member. I am a platinum member over at Daz and when things get better I will become a, I guess you can call it a platinum plus member of the new beta plan they are offering.

**Website still marginally usable for me. **
** Potential Suggestion For others:**
In firefox 30 , I was told to go to the top right bar, which has symols like star, menu box, down arrow, house and then three horizontal bars that look like a square. Click on that (the three bars that form a square) and choose viewing of about 80% with the magnifiying glass. This trades itty bitty type for the ability to see more of the website at the same time. I togggle back and forth between the two.
On the whole, everything takes a lot more time to accomplish. I'm writing now because I found a new glitch; a new time waster.
A NEW GLITCH IN THE SHOPPING CART: Click Delete, Pop-Up, Click, 10 seconds Spinning Ball; Click Delete, Pop-up, Click, 10 seconds Spinning Ball....
I was going through the sales as best I can and putting items into my shopping cart that I might be interested in, not that I certainly would buy. Now, with the idea of purchase, I've been going through taking items out till I get to what I'm willing to buy.
It's taking forever. In the past I would go down the list and click through 4-6 items at a time to delete from the cart and they would all go out.
For each and every gosh-darn item I get now a pop-up that stops me cold and locks my system until I confirm delete. After the pop-up comes the spinning ball for about 10-15 seconds as it decides whether to honor my delete request (the spinning ball always used to happen, but I could postpone it in the past by clicking 4-6 items so they would go at once). Then for the next delete the whole process repeats. Click Delete, Pop-Up, Click, Spinning ball. At being able to delete four or five items per minute, guess how long it takes to manage this one task on a cart with 50 or more potential items in it?
Making time management by adding more clicks slows my purchase guys. I am no less likely to delete items, but I am more likely to put less into the cart on speculation.
It is taking too long to shop here. Things are very hard to see and the purchase management process is becoming slower and slower.
I am beginning to feel like I am Rodney Dangerfield to you all. I get no respect for my time.

It really galls me that on the marletplace index page they manage to have two and a half rows of FOUR products per row visible at a time in the browser window I use, but just this stupid one row of TWO products on the actual marletplace and freestuff pages - and even worse, in search results it alternates one row of two products with one row of just one product.
Not acceptable for me; not usable for me. i'm disabled and scrolling HURTS. Here, now, too much scrolling that causes far more pain and for far longer too.
The barrage of emails from Renderosity since the store change continues - all a complete waste for me. Have not bought anything. Will not clear any of my wishlist that's on sale at the moment. Will not buy anything.
And the weay Renderosity is ignoring this thread and failing to engage with any of the issues is simply completely disrespectful and an insult to many of its customers. Ten years, I've been buying here. No more unless there's some action, which I really no longer have any hope is going to happen.

If you don't want it to look like you are ignoring people, then you need to respond to at least a few of the posts in this and the bug threads. Also, some people have been reporting that none of the staff is responding to their questions in email or PM, either. AT the very least, you could respond to people in the bug forum. The complete halt for over a week of responses from the Rendo staff in those two threads seriously makes it look like they've been abandoned by the staff.
Also, where are Tina and Kim? That makes things look bad as well, just FYI. They can't possibly ALL be on vacation... I've only noticed you in the Customer Support threads in the past few days, and that one guy today.
We apologize for the delay but as we've always tried to do in the past, we will take into consideration all feedback and do what we can to make all happy!!
You'll have to forgive us if we still have serious doubts. We were told by Tina a couple weeks ago that the font color (very simple to do!) would not be fixed because the webmaster wants this particular shade of red and refuses to change it, and that is despite that absolutely nobody has voiced support for the color-- not here, and not on the announcement page. The site layout aside, that particular refusal by the admin alone makes the staff here look VERY unwilling to take any feedback into consideration (though in my case, I know it's the webmaster, and not the forum admins that are responsible for that)
I hope you will respond tomorrow or the day after that to this paragraph, BTW. It's a major sticking point for me, personally, and I think I've whined about it more than anyone else.

I have not been happy with this site for a very long time. I have had the same complains as other people and nothing has gotten fixed, its only gotten worse.
End result so far is the same as it has been for a while now.
The customer has had to adjust and adapt to a system they don't like, or move on to another site. Many people have. Some of the best Renderosity customers, artist and vendors have moved on.
There is no adjusting or adapting to the new marketplace for me this time around. The site is currently the worst it has ever been and is one of the worst online. Before they started messing around with things that they did not have to, it was one of the best.
I am not a wealthy person nor a professional 3d artist. This is just a hobby for me. The money I spend here is not a lot. I cannot afford to spend 100/200 dollars a month even though there have been times, that I have. There are many customers who are in the same position as I am and many who are in a worse situation due to disabilities and other things. Every customer should be treated equally. Renderosity has never made me feel like a valued customer.
The vendors have been fantastic but the site management is terrible. The render rewards program, for me has never been palatable. Too little pay off, for too much money. The Prime Membership also not palatable. The new marketplace is a completely mess. Totally unusable. I have problems with my vision and when I say the new site is an eyesore it is literal. In order to fully describe the site I would have to borrow some military terms, Charlie Foxtrot, SNAFU, FUBAR.
It would have been better to shut the site down for a few days, Get everything fixed than having your customer base stumble around the site blind and having to deal with all the bugs and problems.

Thank you Stacey for your response. I recognize that Renderoisty cannot satisfy everybody, but I really do hope some of these issues change. I assume that the company is monitoring things like 'artists online' , the time spent on line, and ultimately purchases made, with thei idea that if these numbers grow the change is basically good, and if they shrink, then it probably was not good.
For making purchases I would like to be able to delete as many items as I don't want at a given time with perhaps one pop-up that says, 'confirm delete of these items.' Also, ideally, I would like a second temporary wishlist cart that I could put things into while a given sale is on. A 'temporary cart' if you will. Then transfer things over to my final cart with the idea that if I get more money or change my mind on some things I could go back to my temporary cart for a bit.
Size and basic readability and navigation is till a big thing for me. I'm not too concerned about style.
Thank you.

No offense to you personally, but we've been told things like this with the other site changes, and little to none of the concerns or complaints were ever met with anything other than "this is how things are going to be from now on" or the absolute patronizing 'we know better' tripe of "give it a chance, we know you'll come to love it."
I am disinclined to think that any of the issues not related to actual bugs will be dealt with, at least not until the next site "upgrade" (really a downgrade since just about every one has resulted in fewer features) rolls along in a year or two.

It's not until more people start taking action and speaking with their wallets that the site will start paying attention. And you are one hundred percent about hearing the "this is how things are going to be from now on" or the absolute patronizing 'we know better' tripe of "give it a chance, we know you'll come to love it." Though I would call it more condescending but that is just semantics. Either way that really pisses me off. If the vendors I have asked don't want to do direct sales it's a loss for them not me. It's my money that they are not getting, nor is this site. There would have to be a major boycott and sales would have to drop enough so that the real heads have to pay attention. I have almost gotten to the point of contacting Bondware Inc about how poorly the marketplace is being ran.

The problem with the "speaking with wallets" approach is most of the Renderosity user base would have to agree--and stop buying here. People have advocated doing the same at simlar 3D shops over the years (I started in late 2005), and the approach doesn't seem to work. Speaking for myself only... Although there are some things about the new site changes here I really, really dislike, there are a few new things that I do like, like product page buttons saying "Purchased" if it's in my account (unless it came from a grab bag promotion). That's more than I can say for the recent site changes at the other site starting with "R"... At least here, I can see whole prouduct pages, without having to scroll an assinine amount (smaller monitor set to lower resolution). As a Poser user, who does not use DSON or Genesis, Renderosity is sort of the last shopping strong-hold (but hey, I still use the Daz Gen 2 and 3 figures, in addition to the 4th Generation). I don't use Dawn, either... So, if I don't shop here, I guess I don't shop much (which would be way better for my finances, but...)... I'm disgruntled with some of the newer site changes, as well, but as a Poser user, I'm kind of stuck because if I let the disgruntlement chase me away from shoppig here, I might as well quit using Poser. And then I'd have wasted a lot of money over the last (almost) nine years...

If I was a Daz|Studio user, I might feel differently. I'm pretty much sticking to shopping here (although maybe less, but mostly due to some personal stuff). I don't shop much at Daz beause I don't use the DIM to download and install my Poser content. I wind up having to manually rezip whatever I buy there to get rid of the pesky "Content" folders in front of the "Runtime" structure. Just not worth it most of the time (although I do have some PC items I still want). My only experience with Geneis 1 comes from a few hours of trying to learn Carrara (and that hasn't been going well. I hate the Carrara camera as much as I hated the D|S. camera the last time I tried it). I'm still hoping things will get better here at Renderosity with the shopping experience soon. I do sympathize with your frustrations, John. I still can't sort my wishlist by price, for whatever reason and it's really maddening. Yes, that is one thing which was supposed to get better with the new store. Instead it has gotten worse. Improvements are supposed to make things better - well they haven't
Prime renewal discount ends in a few days. I still have not renewed and I probably are not going to because the feedback is still being ignored - not even the font color for price and discounts has changed.

3dstories posted Fri, 25 July 2014 at 9:25 AM
As this is a feedback thread,
(1) I agree with Tigger Springs about sub-information. There are characters I don't use and would like to bypass. I, too, don't use many Genesis characters and would prefer if clothes, hair and characters for Genesis only were something I could occasionaly block out. Not being able to differentiate between Genesis and non-Genesis is a reason I do less shopping at Daz. It is frustrating seeing an artistic creation I like, spend the time to read about it, and then find it is not designed for the figure I have it in mind for.
Along those lines, too, are the Hairstyle products. I'd like to separate out Hair products from textures for Hair products. 80%-90% of the time I'm either shopping for one or the other. It is frustrating if you are looking for a new figure or prop to go through pages of texture styles that are not applicable, especially if the Rendo server is slow and the pages take a few seconds to load.
If I'm shopping for new hairstyle figure or prop products, I usually want to see those first as I typically have a limited budget. Sometimes I do want to see what other textures support it. If I am shopping for a texture product, it is usually because I already have the hairstyle and want to see how to extend its reach. Occasionally I will look at only hairstyle textures, usually by vendor, to see if there is a hairstyle that I have missed but that looks really good when someone else does the promos differently.
(2) LOG-IN ISSUE The reason for writing right now, reagards Log-In. It has always been a pain to log in after I have browsed the site and find something I'm interested in. When you log in the site doesn't keep you on the page you're on but rather redirects you to the home page. If you try the usual tactic of hitting the back key it doesn't work because then you revert to a logged-out page.

(3) STILL NOT STRUCTURALLY FRIENDLY. I still cannot read the site due to page size and Font Color issues and am toggling my browser down to 80% when I want to see more than two items on a page with very long scrolls downward, then toggling it back to 100% when I want to read the text. Shopping on this 75 % sale took an agonizingly long time. If I wasn't on vacation, I might have looked at 10 of the 60 pages then quit. The check-out process with the one-item delete at a time was the final aggravation. The renderosity site often takes several seconds to switch pages now. It is not my computer or the ISP as I check the download speeds and network speeds. The spinning ball of waiting pages seems to be something on the Renderoisty server end. Basic Readability and Time spent clicking and living with the spinning ball are thus two big issues.

Regarding not using the Daz Install Manager (DIM) mentioned above: The TWO EXPLORER WINDOW DRAG METHOD.
For Tigger Spings: I don't use the Daz manager either. In Win7 (and 8) I simply open two explorer windows. I double click on the zip file to open it in one. Then I drag the Daz Runtime folder from it along with the occasional Documents folder (the latter in a separate movement; optional if you want to keep the documenation together) from that explorer window over to the window that shows my destination folder that contains "Runtime" (as opposed to the actual "Runtime" folder itself, if you're managing multiple Runtimes; That is to say you drag into one level up from the folder that has "Runtime" in it).
The wording may sound muddled, but if you go through it you'll see what I mean.
I don't touch the Daz content folder and don't need to rezip the Daz folder at all. You can even archive these files to CDs or DVDs and use this technique leaving everything intact as you get it.

Also as far as the runtime, I still have everything set up as I did back in 1.8. I don't use the my library folder. I do use the new program files folders.
I keep everything on an external harddrive under D:DAZStudiocontent

Yeah, I really miss browsing by-iigure-of-interest for add-ons. Thaats's been gone for a long time, more less. Probably because it's a logistical nightmare for the admin team, if vendors aren't mindful of correct placement. When the old system utilizing the by-figure was still in place, for instance, you'd often find A4/V4 stuff in the A3/V3 categories.
Quote - Along those lines, too, are the Hairstyle products. I'd like to separate out Hair products from textures for Hair products.
Same here. And for separation of clothing models and clothing textures, too.

I know. Everyone always says something along those lines. I rezip so that I can archive the properly zipped product on discs or external driive. Thanks, though. So many Poser-related sites have disappeared, I tend to be a little paranoid when it comes to product purchases.

In their defense however, I don't think that was the case with the forum admins and the sale font color. Tina at the time said "I'll bring this up with the programmer" or something like that, and a few days later said it wasn't going to change because it is the color that the site manager wants. I'm inclined to believe that the forum admins here (or at least Tina and Stacey) don't care for the sale font color, either.
And, they stopped gushing saccharinely (with a touch of acetone-- unfortunately, I do indeed know what this tastes like-- some pharoah ants got into my cranberry cereal and I didn't realize it. It tastes about the same as it smells shudders I wish it had been Argentine ants, since at least those are just peppery...) about how much we'd like the new site layout after a week and a half.
How can Bondware help? Do they own Rendo?
Somewhere on the site it says "Powered by Bondware". So most likely, Bondware's software is what is used for this site layout and programming. However, Bondware probably isn't like DAZ and Poser e-shops, where the staff are actually approachable or interact with the customer. So I'm not expecting them to lift a finger beyond giving anyone who emails them a crappy automated response.
To be honest, I would likely be willing to shop at previous levels with just a few conditions--
Yes, that is one thing which was supposed to get better with the new store. Instead it has gotten worse. Improvements are supposed to make things better - well they haven't
The problem is the complicated search-based layout-- it actually DOES work quite well at filtering content by figure if you can figure out how to use it, but it requires you follow a certain step-by-step process. I don't recall if this works on vendor pages at all, but you can get it to work on the main store pages if you follow the right steps.
Which, of course, is a major problem, that the site functions are not consistent everywhere, which makes things confusing.

You're number two is happening to me, as well. It really makes shopping difficult during sales. That's usually how I'd go through my wishlist before a lot of the time. By price or vendor, any way.
I'm on a fast broadband connection and promos are taking way too long to load (if they load at all). I've emptiedd out my cart a few times (re-wishlisting) items because of it combined with the wishlist sorting issue above.

The bottom line is it afffects sales. Sales numbers are what drives the revenue for the website. If one's shopping experience is bad or frustrating they are more likely to spend that revenue elsewhere. Who's gone to get groceries to discover a huge checkout line, and in that moment decided to either postpone that purchase or comeback at a different time (to a different store)? The actual time spent shopping is bad here because the mechanisms (website issues) make it more time consuming to locate, look at previews (wait for pages to load), deal with funky color combinations, etc. Pre-testing the website would have been idea.
Another simple thing. When you click on a vendors store, you get taken to the highlight page of products, not the actual full store. This is so frustrating. How about a separate highlighted sales button for the vendor instead? If I click on store I want store, not a small list of items.
I gave the example of a grocery store earlier for a point. If you are going to the grocery store you want to view a particular line of food product, not just 10 or 12 items selected by the store staff or by the vendor.
On connection speed, I have a decent connection (for my area). The website is painfully slow. I hate to imagine people with slow internet connection speeds.

I so agree with 3DStories - Searching for hair models and clothes models has always been a bit of a frustration since all the textures show up too. Sometimes it's easy to tell what is a texture and what is the base outfit, but not always, so then you have to click into each to see, and it is very time consuming.
Now that none of the products are labeled for what figure they are for, it really wastes time when browsing the new items. I don't use Genesis or Genesis 2, mostly I use V4, M4 and Dawn. I don't really want to click on something that I'm not going to be able to use.
It really is concerning that this Web Master isn't open to our concerns with being able to read the red on gray or green on gray or to people's disabilities. The Web Master has to be hired by the site, so why are the powers that be allowing him to just say 'That's the way I want it"? The Web Master / Site Admin's job should be to provide an excellent shopping experience for the Renderosity customers.
Kazam561 posted Sun, 27 July 2014 at 1:53 PM
Filtering the product list is bad here, as well as the time to remove an item from the shopping cart. I just timed it. The process I used was to use the button delete from cart. Yes, I had other items in the cart. To delete one item took 84 seconds for the page to refresh. For 1 item. No check boxes to remove multiple items at a time, just one item. May I suggest other users time the delete item button from the cart process and post it here to get an idea of how slow the website and shopping in general is at this time with this current version of the webpage design.
1st test, 84 seconds from pressing the red delete button to cart update.

Tomorrow is the last day of the sale so whatever, I'm not expecting for anything to get fixed or anymore feedback from the site admins. I also don't expect to be purchasing anything from here for the foreseeable future. Unlike other people who can only find support for the software they use here, my software is supported in many other markets.
They could at the very least post a summary of the issues that have been "compiled" so that the forum members could check it to see if they have missed anything. I doubt that will happen. It's not like their jobs are on the line, even though they should be. All the site admins have been doing lately is coping and pasting the same thing here and there not really showing any actual effort to comply with the few things that we have been requesting. It's also not like we are the only ones unhappy with the new state of things. The forums are full of people that don't like the new setup, rightfully so.

This depends on the company and varies one company to the next.
In mine, the Webmaster does server configurations, and traffic work. He has no hiring power, but has extensive power over how the servers operate, and what runs on them.
My team does the actual building of the front end of the website, and have an entirely different management structure. We have control over the HTML, CSS and JS that power the site, and no control over the boxes that code runs on, or the back end code that interfaces with the Database.

First off the programmers are working right now on the "green" text issue and it's going to be changed to a white that is more like the title of the product, that coloring. Seems in just doing a some testing of different colors for prices this appears to stand out and be easy to read the best. So this "green" thing will be resolved:)
Second on the sorting of the wishlist, it is there (all except the vendor sorting which I will speak with the programmers about) as it was in the old layout See below for that information along with a screenshot attached
"Sorting has been working since day one of the release. Understand that when you click on table headers such as "Price", "Status" or "Type" as mentioned above it only sorts what's on the current page. As soon as you click the header it sorts whatever is on the page without reloading. To sort all pages or by further options click on the arrow buttons next to the search box. See attached picture for details. This applies to the "Item List" page as well.
In the wishlist beside any item that is "prime" will have that (prime)
Like the example above.
I know another issue suggested was the ability to search Prime and certain things in a specific vendors storefront and that will be addressed and is on our list to enhance so wanted to let you all know about that.
There are I know lots of other feedback and suggestions I'm still checking on and reviewing but wanted to at least update on a few of these just so you all would know we are at the point now we can start to make tweaks on suggestions/feedback where we can

Okay I misunderstood the only two table headers that should sort as in the past is the "WISHLIST" with the up and down arrows beside it, clicking up or down will put the items on that current page in alphabetical order, that works fine for me. The Price one is also a sortable one that has the arrows up and down beside it that should sort price by highest to lowest or lowest to highest depending on which arrow you click but that one IS broken and will be fixed tomorrow. THe status and Type, adam was just using as an example of what a "table header" was but those as in the past are not sortable options.
The up and down arrows at the top of the wishlist page by the wording ALL ITEMS will sort in several different ways but this isn't just for the current wishlist page but it sorts ALL items in your wishlist so if you have multiple pages it will sort say price highest to lowest ALL items in the wishlist where the other price table header will sort highest to lowest or vice versa only on the current page of the wishlist you are on and like I said that one we just discovered did break and will be resolved tomorrow.:)
Sorry for the confusion, it's been a rough month lol but we will get there!!

Type in something like v4 clothing models conforming and see how many clothing items you will actually find.

I appreciate that you are going to change the price color. Please do so for the red discount color too,
To show my appreciation I took advantage of the last day for the prime discount and added it to my shopping cart. The experience of the checkout could be called "scary: though. After the initial checkout page, the browser stopped responding at the next page - first a complete white page and after reload a "dead" second page of the checkout process (dead as in - not being able to enter any data, no links were working). After trying out another browser, rebooting windows it turned out to be an error in the first checkout page. The page was picking up my personal data (address, name, etc) but it had changed the Country to United States.
After changing that back to my own country (the Netherlands) the checkout process went slow but smoothly. How the country had changed suddenly I do not know.
I then checked my account settings and again I hit the white page problem. But hard refresh (ctrl-F5) did the trick. So there is something not responding very well in the back end (using Chrome)
The current layout and functionality of the store remains very unfriendly to a regular customer. The "What's new" page is still dominated by the Promo products and can hardly be distinguished from the new products. There still is no way to include or exclude platforms or figures in this section (Poser/DS, V4/Genesis/Dawn/other) and most of the items give no indication of what they are or who they are for.
This makes the shopping experience at Renderosity unpleasant and a time consuming experience
There are other issues too with the way the rows and columns are presented (half width browser window in a 4K screen (1920 pixels wide) shows only 2 columns) and the search function is very unreliable and lacks basic functionality: For example How do I browse the hair category with items for V4. The filters only appear when I enter a search criteria, but that disables the category. Search either by hair or by V4 both give only partial results or adds clothing and materials
So I am still very dissatisfied with the new shop
JohnDelaquiox posted Thu, 31 July 2014 at 9:15 AM
One thing that I am noticing is, it appears that when you do a store search, the products from some vendors get preference over others, no matter what sorting filter you use. When I did the v4 clothing models conforming search, the vast majority of the products were from one vendor. Granted the one vendor does put out a lot of clothing. I am using the newest to oldest filter and there are newer clothing from other vendors that also match the search that should show up. I was also getting products that were not for V4. Bottom line is the store search still sucks, the marketplace still sucks.
End result, customer will have to adapt to a system they do not like or move on, which is what I am doing. Tomorrow will be the first of August and it will be the first time I go over a month without spending a dime in the Renderosity Marketplace. It will most likely be that way until the site changes either management, the layout or both.
There are some nice things about the new layout, but the overall experience is severely lacking. The negatives far outweigh the positives. You can see from the amount of negative threads and comments all over the forums that there are more people who are unhappy with the new site in general than there are people who like it.
You may say that the programmers are working on fixing the font colors, that is a start but the font colors are not the biggest problems the site has. I am more than sure that the site will go through yet another overhaul within a few weeks to a few months. Hopefully when that happens the site will return to its former glory.
When I visit any other site, Daz, RDNA, Content Paradise, Hive Wire, Renderotica even. I can usually find what I need without having to navigate through a maze. I can jump from one category and figure to another without leaving the page I am in. If I want to see what hair sets are available for V4 and then M4 right after, I can. Everything I could possibly want to look at is accessible from one page. There is no way to do that here other than the store search and the store search sucks. The store search does not just suck. It's the worst I have used. I have had better luck finding a product for the store using google.
Having every product I click on open up in a new tab is terrible! Personally I don't just navigate one site at a time. I have usually other tabs open from other sites. I don't need Renderosity adding to my browsers already taxed work load.
Another thing that this site use to have that other sites still have, is better product information. I can't even tell if a product is compatible with studio or not. Before, whenever I opened a readme file it would download automatically. Now it opens in a new tab. If I want to download it I have to right click and save link as. Not really a big deal but still inconvenient.
It seems to me that the site if more focused on promoting the Prime Membership than actually getting things fixed.
One thing that did get fixed from the last batch of updates is the add to cart and add to wish list buttons. Having the wish list button be bigger than the add to cart button was stupid.

BTW, Block Element is one of my favorite Firefox plugins. While technically you can block just about anything, though you have to pay attention to the preview, though, because as with "open blockable element", it can sometimes block a whole chain of things that you really don't want to be blocked.
One of the things on the 3D stores I really love having blocked with it is that tab on the lower right at RDNA that I used to click on accidentally all the time.

I feel like Im in the breakfast cereal aisle at the supermarket. Interesting design choice more brutish and in your face than sleek and elegant. Quite unique, but sometimes being unique doesnt make you a visionary just odd. All the scrolling needed just to look over the intro page tends to give me a motion sickness feeling.
Really to find a new bikini for Genesis the furthest I can get using a drill down is clothes for any figure? lol, wtf? is this serious?
The slowness to load all of those giant thumbnails is terrible to, really breaks a rythym when searching for an item.
And opening new tabs to look at a product is a PITA to.
I'm really scratching my head with this one Rendo, I can see how vendors might love the new giant thumbnails but as a customer the marketplace in now practicly unusable for me. I really dont understand how this could be done so wrong. Im not even going to dig for a positive, as digging is what it would take.

"Once results are returned, you'll be presented with multiple sidebars unique to your search. Please note that the sidebars will NOT appear unless a search is made. "
Obvious question 1 - why?
Obvious question 2 - how many people actually read that front page article?
Obvious question 3 - why don't you put that statement directly under the search bar on the Marketplace page, where everybody using the marketplace will see it?

The What's new page still looks like going into a department store and all new arrivals have been dumped into a pile at the front entrance. So being able to filter those would be very useful

What has happened to me, which is I have lost complete interest in ever shopping here again, I believe will happen to many other people. I will look at the market place briefly just to see what is new. If I find an item I like I will see if it is also available from another store and if not I will look for a similar looking alternative. So far I don't feel like I am missing out on anything. I don't even post in the gallery anymore. The 512kb file limit at on a .jpg format is ridiculous. The main thing that is keeping me from buying anything is having an item open up in a new tab. As soon as that happens I say F this I out of here. The other thing is the complete lack of product information. If a product is not studio compatible I won't get it. As I have said before, the overall lack of symmetry is really unattractive.

Still only seeing two items at a time in the marketplace and in the freebies, still no option to change that, still too much painful scrolling for me, so I'm still not even thinking of buying anything. And I've now given up any hope this issue will be addressed.
Which makes the ongoing bombardment of offers, ad etc emails from Renderosity beyond annoying so I'm off to find where i can unsubcribe from the Rendo emails. I guess the option is in My Account somewhere ...
... found and done.
I'll keep my account just in case I ever need to redownload any of my past purchases.
Sad, but that's that.

Obvious question 1 - why?
...
Just spotted winvdb's post above and had another look. Good to see that you've fixed this - the sidebars now appear if you just select a category, e.g. "3D Figure Essentials".

You've got one of the classic problems of having three floated
In Renderosity Marketplace's case it's made worse by the fact that the top part of the central column is the 'Sponsored Items', which are unrelated to the category/criteria that the user has specifified, and they HAVE TO scroll down to get to the strat of the stuff they were actually looking for!
This is a very, very bad design flaw and happens with a huge variety of websites.
(N.B. I didn't actually check the page source so my comments may not be quite correct, but you can see the problem)

If you reduce the width of the browser window to around 1210 pixels or less (I'm using Firefox 31.0 on a Windows 7 system) the left and central divs no longer float side-by-side, they stack one on top of the other, left first, central second. The right div is still on the right.

Yes, that's an issue that makes the search function even worse than the normal marketplace display. In the marketplace, I only see one line of two results at a time, with the first two screenful scrolls being the promoted items. In a search, first there's all the categories not on the left of the search results but above them, taking up most of the screenwidth - on every page of resullts - requring a LOT of scrolling to get down to any actual items below the categories ... and the items then appear alternating one row of two items with one row of ONE item.
This is the kind of abortion of a website design one used to get in the 90s, where people who had some moderate DTP skills ignorantly set themselves up as website designers with no understanding of HTML and CSS, and set up pages in something like the then versions of Dreamweaver, laying them out DTP WYSISWYG style, without any understanding of issues like scalability, or that users would only see their nice layout if they were using exactly the same browser at exactly the same width as the person had been who created it. I don't think I've seen a site designed so badly in this fashion since around 1999, and I do a LOT of browsing all over the web as since becoming disabled and mostly unable to leave the house I haven't got much else to do. I'd thought we were long past such appalling web design. It just beggars belief that anyone could still come up with a design like this in the twenty-teens.

I did a quick check here and at *'two other well known brands*' - I went to the marketplace at each and looked at the 'Hair' category. I expanded the browser window (Firefox 31.0) to full screen - 1366x768. Results in the attached image.Personally I think the one on the left is best overall. But only marginally, and judging from this one single test and nothing else. Simply because the 'block' for each item is smaller so you can see more of them on the screen at a time.
But even the one on the left has wasted space when you scroll down. (The middle one is the worst of the trio in that respect.)
Another thing that struck me was that the one on the right has different sized images for some products. That looks really bad in my opinion - but opinion and fact are often very different things... ;o)
And really they all look more or less the same to me.

I also did a check with all three sites to see what happened when I reduced the width of the browser window (Firefox 31.0 again)
The other two behaved well - they seem to have a minimum width set for the content, and when the browser window width drops below this the browser gives you a horizontal scroll bar.
So it looks like Renderosity forgot to do this. (Maybe I should have posted this one to the 'bugs' thread? Edit: posted near the bottom of page 7 of the bugs thread)

I use my browser (IE11) not at full screen width ... still well over 3/4 width, but with a small gap on the right and a larger one on the left between screen edge and browser window.
Browsing other Poser/DAZ marletplaces - RuntimeDNA, DAZ, Content Paradise, Xurge3d, R'otica, Hivewire3d, ShareCG, D3D, FoRender, Vanishing Point, Mankahoo, EvilInnocence, PoserAddicts, and a bunch of others but that's enough to list - I see varying numbers of items within my browser display at once, per scroll. The MINIMUM number with all of those is SIX, the maximum TWELVE, with quite a few on eight or nine. This is also true at other, non-3D related internet stores I go to to look for clothes, a replacement freezer and fridge, books, music, films ro whatever.
ONLY the Renderosity store shows less than 6, and indeed only TWO in the marketplace and freebies, and alternate browser screens of two then ONE in the search.
Oh, but I'm SURE all of those other websites are being inundated by angry users wanting huge item displays so they could only see two items per screen, but their website designers are ignoring them ... NOT.
But the person who came up with the idea at Renderosity, and those who approved it and actually chose to boast about it as an improvement in the notificatiosn about the site 'upgrade, will never admit they made a mistake. So I give up.

The ONLY other site of those I listed above where I get a horizontal scrollbar is the new RuntimeDNA ... and even there I don't actually have to use it to see all the items in the store on the main store pages, just a little bit on the product pages to see the product promo thumbnails on the right of the main promo image. Which makes me not very happy with RDNA and its new store, actually. But then again, whereas I used to buy a lot of stuff from RDNA between about 2004 and 2008, since then they've pretty much stopped producing new stuff of the kind i'd like and buy, so it doesn't actually bother me that much in practice as I seldom open a product page.

Like I said its a decent start but still needs more work
There is currently No way to sort between dynamic, conforming or second skin clothing, I am not a poser user but I tried the poser section in the software and could not find it there either
I tried to go from clothing to poses by selecting the poses in the side bar and it gave me a not matches found, it appears you can't switch catagories on the fly through the side bar yet, and if you do the items go wonky.
I also agrees with above posts, if you must display the Sponsored Items they should at least relate to the deparment we are in
One thing that did get fixed from the last batch of updates is the add to cart and add to wish list buttons. Having the wish list button be bigger than the add to cart button was stupid.
I would really like to see some Horizontal slide out menus used in the store, are awesome. They minimize the amount of space taken up while still making navigation easy. That translates to less scrolling and more organization.

Razor42/Designanvil: Just be glad you didn't get here earlier. The way it is now is a breath of fresh air compared to when they first brought the new design out in late July. I hope you won't pull your store products just yet, because I still want to buy the Genesis Bikini and gemstone shader products. <:(
I'm really scratching my head with this one Rendo, I can see how vendors might love the new giant thumbnails but as a customer the marketplace in now practicly unusable for me. I really dont understand how this could be done so wrong. Im not even going to dig for a positive, as digging is what it would take.
The only positive is that you can now see what products you've purchased, and the bigger thumbnails are easier for people with vision problems (but on the flipside, unpleasant for those with painful conditions of the hand, which goes to show that Rendo needs to figure out some way to make CSS sheets to accomadate both disabilities). RDNA still has some serious bugs, too, but their redesign is far better provided your monitor isn't smaller than 800 x 1200 like mine is-- and IMO their bugs are more serious (unless it's been fixed in the past week and a half, gift cards and purchase history/ability to re-DL products unless you kept the receipt is currently unavailable). Also, I doubt that all vendors are happy about the bigger thumbnails because they're being required to submit bigger thumbnails, which means rendering thumbnail promos for their products all-over again. Plenty of them still haven't gotten to it even now, and some (esp. the ones that haven't been around in forever and never have their products on sale) never will.Obvious question 3 - why don't you put that statement directly under the search bar on the Marketplace page, where everybody using the marketplace will see it?
Agreed. You really need to put some detailed instructions somewhere where people will find it-- preferrably in the FAQ.What has happened to me, which is I have lost complete interest in ever shopping here again, I believe will happen to many other people.
I used to be in the same boat with you, John, but with the stuff Rendo has cleaned up their act on (the font color, assuring is that they'll use a testing site of some sort-- though hopefully it will either be on a separate server or at least something people can opt in and out of as they please-- not something like DAZ's Platinum + where once you sign up you're stuck with it) SO I'm willing to go back to my regular shopping habits here again, even though shopping is a bigger pain in the ass than it used to be, and I'll never be bundle shopping due to the flash slidescroll collections that prevent me from seeing all products in that bundle at once. However, I'm not sure how much shopping I'll do this month as I don't find the "daily deal freebie" thing to be worth it unless I see a vendor that never puts their products on sale otherwise, such as Mairy/3Dream, or if it's a vendor whose items are already 30% off so I don't have to buy one at full price. There is currently No way to sort between dynamic, conforming or second skin clothing, I am not a poser user but I tried the poser section in the software and could not find it there either
There isn't? Bummer. Though a tip until that happens, Tipol, Sshodan, and Arki are vendors of ONLY dynamic clothing, and Spiritfoxy is a texture maker who mostly makes textures for either V4 characters or for Arki's products (she's one of my favorite texture makers however, along with RenaPD and Anagord. Yeah, I like the shiny shiny textures.) though I believe she also sells a texture set for the druid staff that I plan to snatch up as soon as it's 45 or 50% off, regardless of wherher or not there are DAZ material files for it. Tipol and Sshodan alone make up for the majority of dynamic clothing products on Renderosity.

I don't bother anymore at Rendo. They're become the 2nd Genesis store anyway, so there's nothing to buy for Poser users.

I don't know where to put this. It's my fault, yes, I know. But I'm still annoyed.
This morning before work, I got up, saw the vendor grab bags (Vyktohria) and spent about an hour going through the (horrible for me) new site layout. I picked out two items for the Vyktohria gab bag. This evening I got back, figured out how to pay for them with the renderrewards and money I had and bought them.
There was no notice about the grab bag and How I would apply for it or what had been awarded to me in the promotion.
Why?
I went to check how I would go about getting the grab bag. Low and behold instead of the usual 11:59PM everyday, Surprise surprise, Renderosity decided to end the grab bag a few hours after I put items into my cart.
So, for this wonderful grab bag promotion, I do not receive a grab bag.
The rendo site has gotten hard enough for me to navigate. I do not like this grab bag promotion and its fine print. It didn't do anything except consume my time.
My one reward is a good product from a good vendor. But I didn't get anything extra from Renderosity.
Phooey on you promotional peoples!.....

The only bad thing is I was only able get a handful of items. I am short on cash but could not pass up on the savings. I was able to use another coupon for an extra 17% off the total sum of my order including sales items. I really don't know what to make of these giant back to back sales. The site is still hard to navigate and broken in some places. Deleting items from my kart took a bit longer than it should have. I have posted many of the things I do not like about the new store layout, as have other people. If you are unable to find it, that just means this thread is not being monitored as often or as thoroughly as it should be. The sites layout and behavior are very dated. The icons are entirely too big for any size display, and for icons of that size they give very little information about the actual product they are supposed to represent. They have fixed the color on the normal price listing but not the mucky red of the sales price, which I believe was supposed to be changed to white. I often wonder why the programmer did not use something similar to ion-side-menus for the navigation. They are used by many 3D content sites, are easy enough to code, and can decrease the amount of scrolling needed, lessen the amount of space that is being taken up by all the sub categories in the 3D Figure Essentials Department. Overall they can improve product management and navigation. The site search still sucks. Many of the items that should be listed under a search query are not. I also do not like having every product open up in a tab. That is frustrating. I never had an issue opening a product by right clicking on its thumbnail and telling the browser to open it in a new tab or window when I needed it to be. It was optional, now it’s being forced on the customers. These are ion side menus. http://ionicframework.com/docs/api/directive/ionSideMenus/ http://demo.joomlashine.com/joomla-templates/jsn_dome/pro/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=72&Itemid=468 http://wijmo.com/widgets/wijmo-open/menu/ As I have said before, there is an excessive amount of scrolling and stumbling around required, to find anything in the in the 3D Figure essentials Department. This thread and the forums are full of unhappy people. Only reason I was able to purchase anything today is that the sale was isolated to one department and I had a total savings of 87% when checking out.
When I was deleting items from my kart, each item to a very long time to be deleted. The check process also took a lot longer than it should have. The dead links are some times random but I have often been able to replicate them. Here are some of them and some of the error codes I have gotten, all of which have been in previous posts.

Renderosity should provide a 'click' icon so that you can click everything at once and then hit 'delete' only one time. It really does take a long time to delete things now, since it seems to have to link up with the server for each and every item and I hope this bug is addressed and fixed in the near future.
I have to read the site at 80% to see the items reasonably. The trade-off in navigation is legibility.

Slowly I believe that talking about the state of the Store and everything that goes with it is senseless. After all the Bug Reports and Suggestions Renderosity received from their members there was no effort made to improve even the most mentioned irritants.
I have made my piece be avoiding to browse the Store. I look only at what is new and the latest Prime items. My spending has become minimal and will remain so. The desire to make a purchase has gone away. Something I had thought would never happen.
I will never get used to the gigantic, uneven sized Thumbnails. I will never get used to the scrolling required to view just one Product plus description. The red and green Christmas coloured prices will remain an irritant as will unreadable colored text.
The download page still does not show a file size. How hard can it be to add this feature that we enjoyed before the improved bigger and better site? The file download problem was never fixed (the "we could do it right now but give us two days so we can do it right" promise was what? Did the Webmaster think I would never notice that it was just another empty promise?).

Well, I'm so appalled by the huge thumbnails meaning I can only see two products at a time at my usual browser width (and alternating two together, then just one in search results) I haven't bought anything since the website change. Two things I was after where Google searches showed Renderosity had them but other sites did too, I bought at the other stores, even though one was on a lesser sale and cost a couple of dollars more there. Other things that were just here I just dropped wanting them. So it will continue unless things change for the better.
But you know what's crazy - on the Marketplace home page, the thumbnails scale down on shrinking the browser window, so I can see four per row at my used browser width, exactly the same as at full screen, and would be able to see two rows too even with the normal store page data underneath. But the store/search/freestuff pages don't. WHY, WHY, WHY can Rendo have the item thumbs auto-scale down on the store index page but not the others.
But you know what's REALLY, REALLY, REALLY crazy - and I've only just actually realised this, parly because it is so unbelievably stupid and mad my brain has been refusing to properly process what my eyes see, because it is just too, too unbelievable - When you shrink the browser window a bit on the store, search results and freebies, the large thumbnails don't just not scale DOWN ... thay actually get LARGER!
Really. they do. I go to the store what's new page, fullscreen my browser, check the dimensions of a product thumbnail as it is DISPLAYED, and the DISPLAYED size is 241x281 pixels. (Note: that is NOT the actual size of the thumb image, which is 300x350 - the thumbs are being scaled down with my browser at full screen). The thumbnails on the Market home/index page are displayed at the same size. But if I reduce the width of my browser to my normal size (a bit over 80% screen width, though less than 90%), the DISPLAYED size of the thumbnail on the store listing pages goes UP to 290x338, whereas on the store index/home page, the thumbnails shrink to a DISPLAYED size of 169x198.
That is just completely CRAZY. It's not that the store software can't auto-shrink the thumbnails - with my browser fullscreened on my 1366x768 display, it is scaling the 300x350 pixel product thumbnails down to 241x281 pixels. And it's not that the store can't have the thumbnails scale down futher when the browser is not full screened and not as wide, because on the store home page it scales the 300x350 pixels down from 241x281 to 169x198. But on the store listing, search result and freebies pages it INCREASES the size of the thumbs from 241x281 to 290x338 when I REDUCE the browser window widtth a bit to my operating size.
And I've got to say it again because it is so completely NUTS. The way Rendo have the website configured, shrinking the browser makes the thumbs get LARGER instead of smaller.
Now - will some member of the Rendo staff EXPLAIN to me the logic for the site making thumbs LARGER as the browser size shrink; and why the store home page is able to shrink the thumbnails to maintain the number of items on display, while thae actual store pages not only can't shrink them but make them bigger.
And if you can't explain that (with honesty and a straight face) then GET IT FIXED.

ROFL, nearly 2 months into this and you think they CARE? Puuuuuulease!
According to Renderosity, what you see is what you get - they consider the website fixed. And if you don't agree, you can just take your business elsewhere.
The Renderosity Way.

That's what I been doing. I bought Churros at Churro Mania and Three Creatura figures at Daz. HP Triton I am getting from another store.
The only things I have bought recently have been on crazy sales. 70% off

I have taken all my business elsewhere.
And I don't have much hope for change.
I was just prompted to post because i was so gobsmacked to (belatedly) realise the giant thumbnais weren't just staying giant in a reduced width browser but were actually BIGGER in a reduced width browser. I'd kind of noticed before but somehow thought it was just an optical illusion. Yesterday I actually checked and found they really WERE bigger. Which finally explains the oddity I'd always noticed that my usual browser width is less than one fullscreen item thumbnail width narrower than fullscreen, but the display drops from 4 items per line to TWO, rather than three.
I would also like to see any attempt by renderosity to explain that it is INTENTIONAL that the item thumbnails get bigger as you shrink the browser window width. Clearly it is actually a cock-up, and a very simple, very basic one. In the page code used for the store, search results and freebies, somebody has got the sign wrong on the magnification factor, making it positive when it should be negative (or the other way round, depending on how it's coded), unlike the store front page code where it is correct. It would probably only take one edit to the code to fix. And you tjhink they could manage THAT. ONE LITTLE FIX: probably adding a - (or deleting one) to get the pages behaving properly and acceptably.

I was trying to navigate the sales this weekend.
I couldn't find how to search for just vehicles or just buildings like I used to.
That was a REALLY Big help to me in times gone by.
I pretty much had to go through each page and Today, I just don't have time.
Hope I didn't miss anything.
JohnDelaquiox posted Sat, 27 September 2014 at 9:07 PM
I was having trouble doing so recently. The problem is that the site layout is very nonintuitive and stupid. The split in the departments in my opinion is not needed. For buildings you have to go to 3D Models/Architecture and for Vehicles 3D Models/ Transportation. After you have reached said locations you have to do a lot of scrolling in order to find what you need. It looks like they have fixed the issue I was having last week with the dead links. The sites a mess and I hope they redo the entire thing soon.
I posted links to each section for you to checkout
I can find my way around the site, does that mean I like it? hell no! Its ugly, everything is way too big, its not user friendly, has a lot of bugs and the staff is just terrible. I know I can be hard on things and people but. Should I really have to go through such a hard time to buy something.
I found two new sites that have a lot of interesting content and a very simple web layout. So I am working on phasing out this store completely.

I did the same thing when DAZ followed the path Rendo is on now. I don't shop at DAZ anymore. I don't shop much here either, more so since the newest change. It's very difficult to find what I'm looking for. There are other places to buy 3D content.

Actually I am a platinum plus member at daz. I find the service is great and the site is easy to use, plus one can't beat the prices.

Browsing this site for any specific item is like trying to find a book in a library that’s been hit by an earthquake - You’ll only ever succeed by accident.
And speaking of natural disasters, the site still shows it’s pricing in GREEN font!
Also I notice that Rendo has lost a number of merchants to DAZ. Curious timing don‘t you think...

Not only merchants. But many artists too...
A haven't no really problem for seeing, but this green is a problem indeed

So, I don't understand why a lot of you are having trouble finding products. The main department dropdown is generic. Once you go into a main department you can use the side facets to quickly filter whatever you desire. Unlike DAZ our department faceting actually allows you to facet multiple departments, since products on Renderosity can be attached to more than one category. The same functionality is possible through the search and our search is also more efficient than DAZ's because it searches against custom keywords and data controlled by the vendors. You can also easily search based on a vendor name with all the same functionality.
Here's a simple example: On the screen-shot above, I first traveled to '3D Models' then used the 'Department' facet to filter three different departments within the '3D Models' department. So basically I just filtered three different departments returning only two products (not counting the sponsored items). This is just the start I could at this point filter by 'Software', 'Gender', 'Genre' all at the same time (if available products are applicable ). This SAME functionality is available when searching.
You should have no issue finding anything within 30 seconds.

The initial issue here was the '&' in 'Poser & Expressions' this has since been fixed, however the above link will still be invalid since it contains the '&' inside it. The simplified link you are looking for is this. Notice that it wasn't necessary to go into the 'Poses & Expressions' from the top menu. Just simply go to '3D Models' in the main menu, then facet into 'Poser & Expressions', then facet into 'Victoria 4', then sort by 'Low to High'.
Note that once on the page, you can also filter these results by using the 'Filter By' dropdown or continue to drilldown using the available facets by 'Gender', 'Departments', 'Software', and 'Genre'.

This morning I was browsing and the first item I clicked on showed as Unavailable..so I clicked the Report item and reported it as Unavailable..I go on to browse and note there are several items as Unavailable..every item I look at is unavailable? Is something going on with the marketplace this morning? Just thought I would mention it.

@digitell - Can you tell me if you were in a specific department or what area of the site you were browsing. Also what browser were you using and are you still receiving this area as well?

Hi Tina,
OK..here is what happened: I first went to the Marketplace. Then I did a search on "Asian". That got me to this page:
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?search=asian&expression=product_name
I scrolled down and clicked on "Asian Bundle 3" and clicked on it and got this page:
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/asian-bundle-iii/72806/
It is still showing as Unavailable.
When I click on other pages now..all is back to normal, but was not this morning. Very Odd!
I use Chrome for my browser.
Thank you :)

Hi Chris,
Thanks for giving me this information and I have reported it to the programmers. They are going to re-run the script to see if this doesn't solve the issue so please check back and a bit and let me know if it isn't corrected for you.
