MINIMUM PURCHASE REQUIRED?

I emailed but did not receive a response on this question.

In the past I have purchased items at Renderoisty as low as $1.00 (I can give you an order in June 2010 for example), though recently I have typically spent more.

Please, IS THERE OR IS THERE NOT A NEW MINIMUM ORDER PURCHASE PRICE AND WILL THIS BE PERMANENT??

In trying to go thru check out with some sale items and using a gift debit card these past couple of weeks I've periodically been cryptically blocked by a message that says I have to fill out all fields (when I have - repeatedly and diligently and patiently). Finally on one try I notice tiny red fine print at the top (not the bottom where I'm working)  that a particular purchase does not meet a $3.50 minimum. Was this temporary for this set of sales or ist it permanent??

Keep in mind I cannot see both the top and the bottom of your pages on one screen without scrolling so placement of important notices is, well, important; your site after recent re-do is often difficult to read and seems harder for me to follow.

If the minimum purchase policy is permanent it may be a problem for me. I use gift debit cards to keep on budget, but I do need to get them to zero.  So purchasing small amounts makes a difference otherwise the credit card companies pocket the remainder.

There were products not purchased today, for example, because one was apparently too little for you ($3.00) and two was too much for me.  I just got tired of spending my time trying to figure out how to buy things with you. It made a fun sale less pleasant than it otherwise would have been.

If Renderosity has added a minimum order purchase requirement, please relay that it is SOMETHING I DO NOT LIKE.  You got me this time by causing me use a virgin card to get over the threshold to rewards at the last minute but I will have to re-think my long term purchase habits in the future.

SITE SEEMS HARDER TO FOLLOW - OR IS IT JUST ME?

Also, I had a lot of difficulty purchasing items during this month's sales, and I can't believe it's suddenly all my fault. I think your site has gotten hard to read and I feel you may be playing too many games (even unintentionally) with caveats, timing,  and fine print, though some of it may be due to readability and presentation. Not being able to check out due to an unexpected apparent minimum and no feedback where you can see it is just one. Another: Difficulty trying to get to a  vendor grab bag, where I spent money and got nothing, (my fault, I admitted, due to missing the print saying expiration at 9am and not knowing I also had to physically add a grab-bag line), Result: I dismissed the promotion as not worth my time. Your vendors lost. Another: the site is slow and communication imperfect. Removing items from a cart is cumbersome, for example, and individual items are usually, but not always, removed on the first try.

Out of curiosity has anyone else been hit by this apparent minimum purchase requirement and had difficulty checking out for one reason or another -often blaming yourself for missing something - or is it just me?

The minimum purchase price has always been in effect, it used to be 5.00 then when prime came along we changed it to 3.50 but it's always been there. I'm not sure how you made a purchase that was below that back in 2010 (I wasn't in the marketplace then so not sure if something went wrong or what but I can't say for sure since I was on the community side at that time) But I have been around for 12 years and the minimum purchase price has always been in place, the only thing that was changed was it was lowered to 3.50 a few years ago.  Occasionally maybe they turned it off for some reason that I'm not aware of but al in all this isn't something new but something that has always been.

We use the broadcasts, front page  articles, etc to try and make it very clear on any promotions any special rules or guidelines or things you have to do in order to participate. All promotions are different and there are going to be certain things in place to make it work correctly such as the grab bag. Adding that grab bag product to the order is what causes the system to KNOW you are participating and be able to randomly select an item from the free items listed that you dont' already own.

Stacy,

After writing my comment, I was wondering of others were having the same problem.  In the thread below is someone else who says they never encountered the Renderosity's minimum purchase price until recently.

I myself may have more orders below the minimum than the one I referenced, but it takes a long time to sift through the order pages so I just reversed the sort order and started from the back because I knew I had orders around $1.00 and never before hit a minimum.

I don't know when they started the $5.00, but I certainly never hit that, much less the $3.50. For me, despite the time I have been a customer here, this is new.

I will reiterate that I do not like the minimum price requirement. Please consider removing it.

To IceEmpress:

I do not get that "All fields of the selected payment method are required because I always use the Pay by check or money order payment method when I use a GC. I use PayPal for real "money" payments so that I do not need to give my CC data.

 To StaceyG:

Thank you very much for your answer to my question.

It is strange that it is now impossible to buy something priced less than $3.50 because as I have mentioned above it was possible to do so until today. At least on July 21 and 22.

I have used very small remaining GCs to buy different things like these outfits and it worked perfectly:

Order #: 112559562 of July 21, 2014:

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?ViewProduct=93606

Order #: 112559613 of July 21, 2014:

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?ViewProduct=72491

Both items cost $2.00 and the payment with remaining GCs went through without any problem.

There is a fee for the payment by PayPal or CC but I do not believe that anything is charged for the Pay by check or money order payment method unless there is a real check or money order to cash at the bank and there is none since the total amount to pay is $0.00. The $0.00 is not a real transaction in this case. At least I think.

The comments above are by Speculoos and Ice Empress in the thread referred to between the asterisks. They never heard of the minimum either.

I went and reviewed my order history more closely. It does not agree with what you are telling us, Stacy, about there always being a $5.00 minimum.

In 2010 and 2011 and into 2012 I had between one and three dozen purchases below 5.00 and more then a dozen of them less than $1.00, some as low as 60 cents.

After August 2012 It does not seem that I puchased any low dollar items because most of my purchases were of PRIME objects which are priced at $3.50. I stopped checking my order history at that point.

The above comments by Speculoos seem to indicate that there was no minimum in effect as recently as July 21 2014 but that something had changed by Wed July 23, 2014, the date of his thread comments.

I ask that you return to a policy of no minumum.

As a buyer I can state that there were indeed minimum prices in effect for a long time, I've been here since 2001 and a $5.00 minimum was around for most of that time.  That said it is possible that in the past when special sales were run that the minimum was lifted (I actually seem to recall that being the case several years ago).  However it doesn't make sense to do that with a minimum of 3.50 because the cost to process the payments would make that too costly, regardless if some choose to use a money order or cheque the system would not recognize a difference and then lift the minimum.

Instore credit, gift certificates or if a coupon discount brings something below the minimum it will go through but as for putting an item in your cart that is under the minimum 3.50 and use no instore credit, gift certificate or a coupon that makes the total go below the 3.50 it won't allow you to checkout. It is possible to have an order total of LESS than 3.50 by the methods I just listed but as I stated the minimum has always been in place in all the years I've been here, it was 5.00 then when prime started it was changed to 3.50 and as I believe I also stated somewhere there may have been special promotions years ago that it was lifted for a small period of time but other than that it's always been in place.
