The window, which is the centerpiece of the render, is a beautiful complex model design based on a really great tutorial I was following for 3dsmax here in the 3D Modeling forum. I was able to follow along exceptionally well in Blender, and do everything the artist was doing in 3ds without any issues. Some steps seemed even easier to accomplish in Blender, and I found myself waiting for the artist in the video to catch up! There were only a few things that were obviously easier to do in 3dsmax, but I'm amazed at how great Blender stacks up to one of the best modeling applications in the CG world!
Anyway, I'm really proud of this scene, and hope you guys like it. Took about an hour to render in Cycles, at 1200 px resolution. I used HDRI lighting and some emitter planes to cast light where I wanted.
