What on earth happened?
I just logged in and the site looks really bad and the usability is even worse than before!
Poor Roxie can't even figure out how to post a rant about it (though that's probably a good thing)!
Please put the old one back and improve upon it, what's the point in going backwards? :InsertTotallyPuzzledSmileyHere:
I hope this is an experiment cause seriously, this new design is enough to drive a person insane. Whitespace and formatting is absolutely awful to the point it's actually less readable even with a larger font, and usibility is below substandard to say the least.
You should have let me design it for you!

... it's not working either.
I can't even see this thread from the Poser Forum Index so it looks like I'm talking to myself - wheeeeeeeee!
I suppose an easy way to check for sure is to piss-off the mod.

Don't think they will go back, they never have in the past, but there might be a few tweaks.
Don't understand why there is never any warning of changes. Even the spell checker in the forums has been slipped in silently.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . I guessed they were still working on it but it was a bit of a shock particularly as it affects the forums and the Marketplace. Some sort of warning might help, although I accept it would not stop all complaints.

Just cuz Daz is coding a new site don't mean Rendo gots to. I thought the last MP upgrade was excellent (The forum, well.... maybe not so much).

The search failure is egregious. No way that was tested at all. I at least unit test my work (search for ANYTHING and see if it gives me an answer).
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

We can't do than now, not now you lot have seen it because it proves it's public, can't a person have any privacy around here?
BTW, does anyone have a link to BB's thread?

Report bugs. How does one go about reporting the revamped/revised (I won't say improved because it is in no way an improvement) as a bug. If this were April 1st, I'd consider it an April Fool's joke. Since it's November 1st, it's just plain bad. Poorly planned, poorly designed and poorly executed. Given all the problems (ebots and notifications aren't working, sitemail is down again, quotes and other fonts are the same as the post font so it becomes difficult to differentiate) I get the feeling this wasn't actually tested "live" on a test system before it actually went "live".

@Wolf
Just in case you're not aware of it, you have to go to the Poser Forum Index and click that new "Manage" button near the top right.
It'll give you a dropdown to start a new thread, and when you post, be sure to select "Poser" from the thread dropdown, otherwise your new thread might end up on a totally different area of the forum :-D

Yes we do because each is a different subject worthy of a separate discussion regarding solutions. I am surprised at the lack of outrage that search is completely not working - it just produces the same results no matter what you search for, or where, or by whom.

The lack of outrage over the lack of a search function might be because it was never any good before but taking it away was not the answer, particularly when there is so much valuable information stored here. Having no search function is like have a massive library with all the books shelved randomly. No good having lot of information available if you cannot find it when you need it.

@Keith
To be honest, I'm glad the forum is fixed-width, it's always better to know that everyone else sees posts in the same way, and reading really long lines of text always feels odd and really annoying anyway. I was damn glad when DAZ ditched the old adaptive-width forum and went to a fixed-width one, it's about the only thing they got right when they launched their new forum!
@Hornet
Cheers, I thought that should be the case but I'm not getting that, must be my settings.
Have to say, while most people will likely welcome a spell-checker, I think it's the end of an era, I got a lot of laughs out of some of RorrKonn's posts. I mean there's "typos" and there's "RorrKonn typos" - and RorrKonn typos are a breed of their own - they're not like regular typos. I've cracked-up a fair few times reading some of his posts, I don't know how he does it but there's something especially funny about RorrKonn's typos, there just is.
I for one am really gonna miss all that, it's the end of an era unless he switches it off :-D

When I first saw the new "style" I thought that my connection was acting up and the page wasn't loading correctly. Sadly I was mistaken and they've decided to design the site based off the advice of someone who's obviously trolling us. This really can't be what they want it to look like, can it?
Also.... lofr my avatar. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH the eyes. hahahahaha
pumeco posted Sat, 01 November 2014 at 5:58 PM
To be honest I'm really kinda enjoying all this, it's livened the forum up a bit :-D
That said (and without wanting to sound intentionally rude to the developers), I'm pretty taken back at how bad the design is. I'm sure the system itself it pretty neat, well thought out, what's "under the hood" etc. But wow, the design aspect of it is pretty damn atrocious. I'm a designer myself and wouldn't dare let a design like this loose on the public. What I find even more strange is that even with this new design, the designer still hasn't grasped the fact that the "Top of Forum" button needs to be placed both at the top and bottom of each page, not just the top.
Simple design logistics alone should tell a designer that a thread page only can grow in length, therefore the "Top of Forum" button is always going to be needed most times closest to the last post made in a thread. In other words, it needs to be at the bottom of each thread, not the top. Bottom of thread placement should be standard issue, but also placed at the top for convenience.
The designer had it backward in the old design, and yet again in this one.

This mess is all my fault.
You see, I complained once too often about the broken page numbers when viewing a long thread. I raised it last year (nothing happened), a few more times this year (was essentially told to stop whining because a workaround existed) and then I complained again in that survey a while back. One question asked for suggestions to improve the site - I said there's no point if suggestions are clearly ignored, and I explained the page number issue yet again.
And now this! The page numbers appear to be fixed, which is pretty amazing really, but there seems to have been ... a bit of collateral damage.
When Shane says "Be patient, they are working on it" you probably shouldn't hold your breath, the page number repair took about 13 months!
Hey, here's a thought: Maybe the Rendo website designer is secretly on the payroll of another large content site, they are paying him under the table to bungle these 'improvements'.

Jeesuz man....get some glasses! During my last trip to the optometrist's I had her give me the closest diopter for each eye (1.25 left, 0.5 right). I ordered a bunch of each strength from eBay that where the same style then swapped the lenses to give me a bunch of glasses. I leave these all over the house and have a pile in the garage. I even taped a pair into my welding googles. The expensive 'paid for by the insurance company' ones are used on the computer at home and at work. And yes, I agree that the new forum is garbage.
