As we all know, there is currently a huge row in the MarketPlace Customer Support forum about double purchases due to the fact that the "Add to Cart" / "Purchased" button flag is currently no longer working.
And as we all just learned, this is actually not a bug but a "feature", so that one can buy the same item again and again and again for this "Goody Bag" lottery...
Which raises a simple question to me: When the shop is properly working and you already bought a specific item, the page does two things: 1) It dims the button and lets it state "Purchased" and 2) it de-activates it, so that you can't hit it any more.
So... why don't you just turn off the 2) de-activation bit while leaving on the 1) notification? This way the marketing departement can still runs its oh-so-funny Goody Bag schemes while the majority of customers still get the feature to actually see what has been purchased before.
And - it actually makes sense to have this split for specific goods anyway, doesn't it? Gift Certificates or Prime Renewals may have been bought before, but may get purchased again, don't they?
I know that a certain company called "D**" is subject to quite some jokes here and there, but they do it exactly that way: Once you bought an item, the button turns grey - but you can still hit it, if you really want it. This is exactly how it should work here during this Goody Bag festival.
