it's AT Smith Micro....
MAYBE it's just "download only" but it's very confusing...the sale price for A SIDEGRADE IS MORE than this "digital hybrid" thing...so that makes me suspicious (I own poser 9).
Any help would be appreciated.

Poser used to be sold as as a hybrid. You received both the Windows and Mac versions. My P4/PPP, and P5 were all purchased as physical disks. My P6 back up disk I purchased from Digital River was also a hybrid listing Mac and Win versions on it. I clicked on the buy link and when you go to the purchase page, you don't have to specify whether you want Win or Mac so SMS may be offering both versions in download price.

Where is the hybrid digital? I dont see it on the page, but if its cheaper, I may be interested! :)
Oh...I see it. Its not cheaper, they are just not showing the Sidegrade/Upgrade prices unless you click on those links and enter your serial number. The Sidegrade from P9 (its what I got as well) is like $135
Lyne posted Mon, 10 November 2014 at 3:25 PM
Right. I got that...the odd thing is that the SIDE GRADE is $135....while the 'hybrid' (with no serial number needed) is ONLY $202? So why would they sell it to those who don't own Poser for a lower price?
I remember the sale for 2014 that I STUPIDLY did not take advantage of a few months ago, was for all versions, and as a side grade, I could have gotten it for ...I think... $145... still bashing myself over the head for not acting on that one! sigh.
At any rate, being dyslexic, and careful, I am trying to be really sure WHAT it is that I'm buying... I don't mind a download only product, as I am also careful to back up to an external drive AND to burn to a DVD....
Thanks to every and anyone for input on this... !

Certainly a good way to try and encourage user to the latest versions and move the user base forward.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Thanks Lyne for posting this. I've been wanting 2014 for a while now, & at only $112 for the upgrade from 2012 I couldn't pass up the deal.
Poser Pro 2012 SR3 on Win10 x64 w/Reality.
Poser Display Units = inches.

Where are you seeing the $135and $125 prices? I'm hoping to upgrade from PP2012 to PP2014, but the price says $157!
Am I looking in the wrong place?

OH well glad my silly dyslexia caused me to post this thread, so it actually helped someone find out it was on sale! LOL!
I got mine...bit of a clunky way you have to GET the download of each part... seems we are forced to use a 'download manager' - which was simple enough...once I took over control - ie: I would NOT let SM manager INSTALL my stuff...I copied each part out of the odd place it downloaded to (Users-Your name-SM download manager) to a folder and then I installed only the ones I wanted by right clicking and 'run as administrator' (also found I had more control by doing that on the installed Poser.exe AND the desktop shortcut too... but finally got it all downloaded, what I wanted installed and set up, BACKED UP THE FILES, then I UN-INSTALLED that download manager! Whew!!
But I got it now....so I'm welcoming myself to the TRUE 64 bit world of Poser!! wooo hooo!! (apparently 2014 is the ONLY TRUE 64 bit version of poser!!! did my research). Plus I want/need the fitting room thingy!! Now to LEARN it all! :) It's neat tho, that it looks like P9, so I'm comfortable with the interface (once I pulled everything to the spots I wanted them in).

If I'm upgrading from Poser Pro 2012 to PP 2014, how much of all that download content in the download manager do I need? is it all new? Some of it? None of it?
Jaager posted Tue, 18 November 2014 at 6:37 PM
The content that comes with each new version of Poser is essentially geological in nature. It is a new layer of sediment overlaying all of the previous layers. If you store the content as a separate Runtime - with nothing else added, the new content can be its own new Runtime and you can remove the older Runtime. If you added or altered the existing content - back it up and load the new on top of it. It is the same plus the new content. Any new or altered files with different names will still be there. In any case, there is no need to keep the earlier Runtime along with the new. I think the more significant addition is Roxie and Rex.

If the comment is aimed at me, then it is not so much bragging as being lazy and trying to cope with a personal memory that is not always at its best. The reason I list the build in my signature is that, when I ask a question, anyone can see the PC, OS and Poser version I am using. Before I used to forget making it difficult for anyone trying to help.
There is information in there that is not essential but again I was being lazy and doing a cut and paste from an email I sent to someone asking about my new build at a time it was new. The extra information was never an issue as it was hidden in the signature. I may have to rethink that since the changes to the forum has the signature line looking as though it is part of every response.
Joking aside, you are right, after using Poser in a 32bit environment with limited memory and then moving to 64bit with a decent amount of RAM is a real pleasure and opens up a a lot more creative possibilities.
Have fun using the Poser 2014 on a system that can do it credit.
