Don't forget we have our annual Holiday contest in progress.  We have made Photography it's own category as everyone has asked.  Contest runs until 12/15/14.

Submit your entry today.

I might ruffle some feathers, but I think it needs to be said. I don't plan on entering the contest(not because I don't want to, it's because I have no time lol) So, I hope you understand. :)

I've been a member of Renderosity since 2002, and while this site has flourished, it lacks in the photography dept. The contests you hold are amazing opportunities for members to show off their work, possibly win and gain recognition. I always enjoy a good contest, even if I don't win. It pushes you to try something new.

I'm happy with the decision to separate photography from 2D as they are two very different genres of art. But, I am disheartened by the lack of photography related prizes. When you look at every other sub-category they have prizes geared towards them. I don't want to sound ungrateful, I just want to give the perspective from someone who primarily uploads photography here.

I myself having won a few contests from here, can honestly say that the prizes I've won I do not use, or barely used. Corel Draw sits on the shelf, Poser I've not used in years... This might not be the same for other winners, it's just my experience as I don't draw, and no longer do 3D. I think the one with Adobe is going to be useful for someone as they can select something photography related, or one of the other tutorials should they decide.

I believe it was the last contest I suggested trying to acquire sponsors or prizes geared towards photographers. It might bring in more photographers to the contests if they're offered a chance to win prizes geared towards them. Places like smugmug, black rapid, 500px, thinktank etc... are photography friendly and offer great products that don't have to be crazy $.

I hope I did not make someone mad. I just want to give my perspective. I enjoy contests, but if the same prizes are offered every year in the same category, that are not in the slightest related to the category, it's going to be hard to generate entries.

kokabeel,

I understand your statement above.  We do ask sponsors to help but we can not force them to give.  I personally thank you for your suggestions and we will do our best to make contact with some of these mentioned sponsors.  Please if you come up with any others send them to me I will be happy to forward them to our Marketing Dept so that they can attempt to make contact with these vendors.
