I'm just getting back into poser. What would you say were the best characters. Not genesis figures .
I like V$ as there is a lot of stuff for her and I like her looks.
Also Alyson/Anastasia. I've gone off M4 as I,ve had some problems with him. Ryan seems a good choice.
Now what about your opinions.

It depends in part on what version of Poser you are using and the type of renders you are looking to create. If you are using the latest versions that support weight mapping then there are a couple of versions of V4 that have been weight mapped and then there is Dawn from Hivewire along with posers own weight mapped figures. On the other hand, if your figures are essentially clothed most of the time, then weight mapping has less of an impact.
If you have Poser 2014 then the fitting room allows you to use clothes made for one figure on a different figure so a lot of that V4 stuff could be used on another figure.
Best plan is to try as many figures as possible and find the one/s that work best for you.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

For me it just depends on what style of art I'm trying to create. I'm a big anime fan so the figure that I use most are the Aiko series, I'm currently using Aiko 3 to Aiko 5. I base my figure use on the content that's available for it. I would like to use Teri Yuki but there just isn't much content out there for that figure from what I've seen.

There is free open-source Antonia in both standard and weightmapped versions, but there isn't a lot of stuff for her...

If you go here there is a version that will take V3 textures...

For me it's not what's best, it's what suits what I need. I have V4, Dawn, Antonia, Cynthia, Anastasia, Michelle- each has a distinctly different look and bends.

I agree. Despite the latest releases, I still gravitate to and rediscover the older models. I am not quite done with them.

Best figures are any that have Capsces morphs. My current favs are M4, V4, K4, Cookie and Chip. Yeah, that's right, Cookie and Chip. I'd rather roll my own characters and by using the same morph package vendor I pretty much know how each dial will affect different figures.

That is one of the advantages with sticking to a figure and the same morphs, you get to know the figure well. One of the reasons I did not move from V4 was that I have developed a character with a combination of morphs and a few texture mixes. I have a fairly good idea these days of what expressions will work with my character and what I need to do to get just the expression I want.

For native Poser figures, Victoria 4 is the best. The Aiko4 and Girl4 addons have a wonderful range of expressions that come with them and you cannot beat the available content for her from DAZ3D to Renderosity to RDNA

The best figure, is the one that you prefer to use in any given situation.
I have a ton of mods of V3, and use them on a regular basis. But that does not mean that anyone else will do the same.
This one is based on V3, which may not be what you are looking for in a render.
This one is Roxie, again, might not be what you are looking for. But it worked out ok to use her here.
This one is V4.
This one is Angela...
Antonia WM...
Use the characters you want to use. What is best for me, may not be the best for you.
What character do you have the most content for? Are you ok with converting things to other characters?
Lots of things to consider, but don't use V3 because I do. Or Roxie for that matter.
There is no best character. Just opinions on which one is or isn't.
Having lots of character gives you more options, which is always good.
