Searching the internet for fabrics and patterns I could use I came across the digital collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
They show a an image of a late 19th century chinese waistcoat which I think my Roxie would like to wear. The image shows only the back panel, but it is laid completely flat and pictured with minimal shadows so I could use the image as template for my pattern in Marvelous Designer (model the geometry based on the UV, so to say).
For the front there is no image, so I used my imagination. I just slit the back panel and imagined a Montycoat closure would look good on it.
I gave it to her tonight for the first fit. She appeared to like it as far as it is now.
A lot is to be done still, however.
