Hey Blender peoples. It's kind of quiet in here so I thought I'd throw this in. You know greebling (or detailing) things like space ships can be time consuming and monotonous. So I thought I'd try using the particle system hair emitter to speed things up. I know it's pretty rough looking but for just 10 minutes work you can see how it can magnify your effort.

Great work, Cybermonk!  Love these kinds of heavily complex objects, with lots of geo.  This reminds me, a while ago I recall seeing a banner advertisement on this site for a really amazing greeble tool that allowed you to add tons of complex geometry to any object with just one click.  I think it was for a different software, but the results it gave were just crazy.  I can't remember the name...

Edit: Oh, wait a minute!  I found it in my bookmarks!  Here's the one I mean...

Yeah, it's only for 3dsmax (of course), but ever since seeing it, I had been on the hunt for something similar for Blender.  I thought there MUST be something like that out there in the python addons or something.  But I haven't found anything to the day.  This is something the Python guys should consider working on!  It would really be a useful addon, and make stuff like this a lot easier.

Anyway, GREAT WORK!

Hi HMorton There was a script called Discombobulator that created random geometry similar to what Cybermonk has accomplished but seems it is no longer being developed and last working version that I know off which was only 3/4 complete was as a add on for Blender 2.63 or 2.65. But another method of doing ti is described in this video tutorial http://www.blendtuts.com/displacement_uvs_sculpt have heard some have been able to reproduce similar effects but it truly depends on which workflow you would rather follow. I have watched this video a couple of times but have yet to reproduce something I would be happy with. But thought I would share in case you wanted to look into it.

I love your greeble.  There are many ways to complete a greeble object in Blender 3D.  I like what you do here.  I have also used displacement maps.  I know there are addons for greeble, but I have not used them.  I try to create my own Python for this soon.
