Hello.

I've installed the last Service Release (28445) for Poser Pro 2014 this morning. After all Poser is running fine but:

When I export a poser scene as an OBJ-file and try to import that mesh into Octane 2.x I'll get a file-load-error.
Octane can't import the meshes any longer (I've had no problems using Poser 2014 SR 4)
Is there a workaround so I can import meshes again or will I have to re-install Poser SR4 again?

M.

Thank you for specifying the build number. :)  Please state what OS you're running (e.g., 64bit Win7Pro).

If you have a modeler or UV mapper program, try loading the OBJ into that app.  Does it load, or fail?

If it loads in the modeler/mapper, then save it back out with a unique name.  Can you import the new OBJ into Octane?

Silo Pro 2.5.6 64bit, Vue Infinite 2014.7, Genetica 4.0 Studio, UV Mapper Pro, UV Layout Pro, PhotoImpact X3, GIF Animator 5

in addition: when using the Poser > Octane plugin the animation tab offers a [ Export Animation ] button which saves the Octane file itself for you.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though

...thank you.
The OS is Win 8.1 Pro 64 Bit.
Ok. I've tried to import the OBJ from Poser into 3DSMax 2015 - "ungültiger Normalenindex" - Max won't load the OBJ.
After that I've imported the OBJ into UVMapper Pro 2 (no problem at all) and saved the mesh with a different name.
I could import the mesh into Octane (but with no textures)
So it's obvious that the export from Poser doesn't work properly... :-(

BTW: I'm using the standalone-version of Octane - not the plugin...

Got it.  I'm going to call this to the attention of a friend or two who use Octane.  I'll ask them to respond here with their results.

...found a way to import the OBJ without fiddling around with the UVMapper...

Octane - Preferences - Geometry-Import - Load vertex normals = uncheck.
Don't know if there are any "side-effects" but it's possible to import the mesh this way.

I just checked this

If I deselect all options before exporting I can load the object fine in Octane stand alone. I do get an error if I keep the default options for export

I used stand alone 2.06 to test this with PP2014 gamedev.

I normally use the plugin, so importing objs from Octane standalone has been a long time since I did that and I do not remember which options I used at that time

May not help, but just to add to the conversation.......

Be sure you check what the Skinning Method is set to.  Several of the programs I use (not Octane, sadly) have a problem with Poser's Unimesh object export.

Just go to Figures>Skinning Method and make sure Poser Traditional is selected.

Like I said, may be of no use at all, but thought it was worth mentioning.
