If someone purchases a gift certificate as a gift, how long does it take for it to show up in that person's account?

Hubs bought me a GC for my birthday today but I'm not seeing it show up under GC's yet.  Now granted, he never comes here other then a couple of times a year to do a GC, so it is highly possible that it's sitting in his account. :)
