Wondering how that works...
If I deactivate my account here, will I still be able to get at the store and the things I have purchased? Or does that lock me out of the whole site?

Good question bwizzy (grins), one I've wondered myself. In all seriousness though, seems like most of the people I like on this forum (regardless if they like me back, lol) are contemplating jumping ship. Darned depressing. Maybe just stepping back and putting any personal emotions aside would help? I mean, I've contemplated it too, several times... but objectively I'd like to have more options than less. Quitting would be less. Not to mention that the complexity involved with deleting my account always makes me say "ahhh, screw it."
Don't go, basic... pretty please?

I would say I am very much in the same boat and I doubt I would de-activate my account but just leave it in limbo in case I needed it. Coming here is depressing though it is like watching something dying a slow death and part of you wants to either kill it off or walk away.

Starting to wonder if some form of temper tantrum virus has broken out here on the forum, to be honest. This isn't aimed at anyone particular but it just feels like a streak of irrationality has occured (which I've come to recognize and accept in myself, maybe due to an old severe head injury) from members who once seemed like the level-headed ones. Peculiar. Shrug.

An example of what needs to be fixed is right here in this forum. To the admin: stop bootstrapping the mods and let them BAN who they feel they need to. After all, it's what you HIRED them for.
To basicwiz: I would imagine that you would not have access to your past purchases. How else would you log in to get them?

Decisions have to be made jointly, and that's the sensible way to do it because it aids in preventing corruption, it's not 100% reliable because the moderators could still scheme together if they're friends enough with one another, but it's better than nothing.
You can't have any moderator, good or bad, taking things into their own hands by making solo decisions.
So no, moderators should not be able to just ban whoever they like.
LaurieA posted Wed, 25 March 2015 at 8:17 AM
They also don't need to be undermined at every turn by an admin who don't see the day to day bullshit that goes on in this forum. Shane and the coords are figureheads only unless the admin gives them some power. If they don't, they have no clout and whiney bawl babies like some will jump up and down and demand that their posts are more valid than everyone elses simply because they made them. It's the kinds of crap that makes other members not want to come here - for newbies to be afraid to post else they get a smartass answer. If Renderosity cares more about the troublemakers more than the friendly, helpful members, then they can expect more of the same - an EXODUS. I hope then that they understand that a few BAD members can cost them way more money by allowing these ppl to stay than to get rid of the shit stirrers.
There, I said my peace and I'm not gonna comment again. Just so the admin knows EXACTLY what I think.

The problem is that "babies" need to learn that just because they don't like something, others are still allowed to say things they don't like or agree with.
Adults shouldn't need a dummy or pacifier as they're called, in order to keep things cool.
Adults usually develop the ability to admit when they're wrong, no matter what side of the conversation they're on.
It's when that simple evolutionary step has failed, that arguments tend to start.

a lot of people are leaving / have left, so that makes your statement invalid does it not? your choice of communication, IE email is not a good idea, if you assume everyone wants to leave, (except the 4 consistent posters), would they not all wonder the same thing? So everyone emails the staff, and we end up with DOS type effect., where nobody can reach the site because hey, emails are taking up the bandwidth. Why should it be asked privately anyway?

LOL, this is a ridiculous comment to make. A, the structure is there to handle emails from site users and B, how many emails a day do you think is actually about asking how to de-activate an account? I never said a DOS attack, but that's ok, and the point was, if everyone had to email the staff, the staff would either get tied up and nothing on the site would get done or, they would ignore all the emails (probably), or they would assign one or two people to reply to them all. Why is this a difficult concept?

you made up these facts... and I am not the one attacking people I don't like, you come in here, as you do in DNA, and attack a comment you take an objection to or one your friends take objection to. You can't blame me here since I rarely even comment on the forums at all, because you, and people like you make it difficult to do so without ending up in a fight. You can play your silly games and make up your facts, and people will just ignore you, and renderosity will just ignore you. Things will continue, people will come and go from the site, and STILL people will want to know if they can have access to their purchases if they deactivate their account, Which is what this topic is actually about, and will not be answered by your made up figures, nor will it be answered by you attempting to start a fight.
So unless you can answer that, I am sorry, your opinion means nothing. Have a nice existence.

The problem is right here "this is still a great place to learn things..."
For some of our "teachers" like Snarly and BB, the forum software now prevents them from teaching anything.
And, on top of that, what they have taught us in the past is lost. Search doesn't work on the forum, Google search doesn't work on the forum, and things like BB's shader examples have been turned into useless attachments and renamed so that you can't even search for them.
Their concerns and comments have gone unaddressed and ignored. They were basically shown the door because the things THEY do can no longer be done in this forum software.
There's no reason to stay around.

I have no idea what's going on... I don't even know if I care, since I don't know what all the drama is about.
This is a store. It has a "coffee bar" where customers chat about stuff related to what the store sells. I grant that, on occasion, someone walks into the store that might cause a scene or disruption. But, so what? It's just a "store." Who cares?
Sure, people might make friends with others, here, and that's great. But, if someone makes an enemy, the solution is very simple: Either make up and play nice with that person or avoid interacting with them. It's that simple. It's what healthy and level-headed adults do.
Anyway, enjoy the drama, all, if that's your thing. But, why not, instead, just brush it off, go to a real coffee shop or something, and sit down and relax? It's just "teh interwebz."

Well, I'm quite certain that's exactly what Renderosity see it as. The problem comes in when you purchase something from this "store" and it doesn't work, or you want to use it for something unintended.
People come in this "coffee shop" to learn how to do things purchased from this "store" and the new forum software makes teaching them how to do so impossible.
So, the "teachers" have no reason to stick around.

I don't get ebots, so I spend an extraordinary amount of time manually reviewing posts trying to find where I left off. I'm so tired of doing it that I'm loath to come in at all.
Half the time I attempt to post an image (screen shot, render, etc.) it disappears or appears twice due to me adding it again. Often this is simply because I forgot to wait for the upload (there is no visual cue that something is happening).
Editing a post (which I frequently do because I see I left something out) is a recipe for losing it altogether or at least for the image to move into the middle of a paragraph or other fun stuff.
Quoting a post is a recipe for major annoyance. I can't tell you how many times I accidentally merged my response with the quote, resulting in my response looking like the quote. Correcting that is impossible and I have to start over. If I've typed a lot this is a serious difficulty.
It takes six seconds just to open the forum. There is no justification for that.
The new formatting on my tablet is nice, but on my 27" Windows monitor it's beyond irritating. I got around this by learning how to "corrupt" the CSS the site delivers to suit me. But this only works when I'm at my desktop at home. I find it insulting that, in the previous forum, the ability to explicitly set custom CSS existed per user, and now it was removed. But whatever, can you just recognize that my 7" tablet should not use the same CSS as my 27" monitor? For fuck's sake.
I waste a lot of time reading posts and realizing I'm reading somebody's signature. I have asked for a demarcation of some kind - none is provided. Numerous other formatting issues waste my time. I know it's a small thing, but death by a thousand cuts and reading this forum is just annoying as hell.
I can no longer attach Poser files (materials) so I despair of having to explain something and so I just - don't say anything even though I know the answer.
The search has sucked, although I very recently noticed it's getting better. Today, searching for my posts with the phrase "dynamic range" actually worked! Kudos.
I used to answer questions from my iPad - the text editor on iPad has problems. I don't even bother now.
etc.
I'm not leaving - I just want these fixed and until they are, I will tend to post less or sometimes not at all, when previously I might have posted quite a lot of info.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I won't be participating again until they undo some of the mess they've done with formatting this forum.

It used to be nearly instant. Now it takes six or more seconds to list the threads.

Sorry - this forum has swallowed some of my posts and won't give any of my previous ones out from search.
I don't think I can afford to type here.

I somewhat abandoned Runtimedna after they gratuitously messed up their forum a while back.
Perhaps we should go back to it.

If you go over there, notice the sticky from 2010 where it is noted that the attachments are back. I was pissed off that they lost all my attachments when they "improved" the forum there.
The note has remained to remind everybody that f'ing up a forum is bad for business.

Stupid cheap incompetent forum software!!!!
I uploaded a picture - it showed in the post - but it disappeared.
Bah - I'm not participating here. It's bullshit.

Hello! Sorry I get no ebots. This forum has been ruined and nobody seems to care.
I did make and demo some unreleased plugins for the Loom and other things. I still don't know when I'll finish and release them.

Once again I'm seriously not getting any emails from this f'ing weak incompetent forum update. I just stumbled on all this new info because I thought I better look over the recent threads and see if their are updates I'm not aware of.
Seriously I don't want to be in this forum anymore.

Rendo forum truly sucks. My subscription to this thread netted me no emails. I hope they don't pay the programmer - this problem has gone on for months and he seems unaware that he has work to do. I have clicked unsubscribe and then again subscribe hoping that fixes it.
We have a lot of snow - drifts over seven feet block my windows. But I'm not in a flood area so no worries about that.
When all this melts, though, there could be issues.

Content Advisory! Language advisory.
I just confirmed that this crapola new forum software is recompressing my images - the quality of what you're seeing in my last post is WAY worse than what I produced and uploaded.
I'm about up-to-here with crap like this. I made a high-quality render that took several minutes, and the damn forum trashed it down to 24KB and it looks like shit.
I'm wasting my time here.

I wrote a length explanation how I made an image. Then Renderosity simply erased it.
F*** you, Renderosity forum programmer. You suck.

New forum software has removed the file name of the uploaded Poser shader. It used to be bbnylon2.mt5.txt - now it's file_454868.txt which is why nobody can find it by its name.
Thanks Rendo - brilliant.

By the way - the new forum software does not permit uploading non-image Poser files anymore even if I try to fake it out with calling it something.jpg.
So - no more free shaders from me at Rendo.

We used to be able to make replies with several quotes and an answer to each. That is no longer possible. You can quote an entire post and delete parts, but that's tedious when somebody has several things to reply to.
Either add a format button indicating [quoted] or bring back the markup.

I have a picture in my signature, but if I try to do anything with it, the formatting goes bonkers.
You can't add a new one.

From 29 October 2014 forward. I would have to say that's the very definition of "unaddressed and ignored."

If you have an issue with the way the site is not working properly please write your concerns to admin@renderosity.com or to me tinak@renderosity.com. I give you my promise that I will do my best to get any issues resolved. I am sorry I just don't come into the Poser forum on a daily basis and it is best if they are sent by email or posted in the Community Center forum where they can be addressed properly. I am making a list from this thread to do testing and see if we can get some of these issues resolved.
