Hello, Just in the case that you haven't read it i the Da3D forums...
Carrara has been updated to a new beta version (8.5.1.19).
In fact I am not completely sure if it is a beta version or not..... It is not very clear....
Regards
Ramon

I think they moved the most recent BETA to production, so it's out of the testing phase and now (supposedly) an actual stable release update. I didn't try it as a BETA but I think I'm going to risk it today - I still have my installer for the last version so I can always go back. :).

Yes, .19 has moved from Beta to Release. Go for it.

Please post back your thoughts on it after you have it installed.

After one day with the newest release:
It's nice to finally be able to re-size the font for the interface - I ended up not changing it because I've gotten so used to it, but it's nice to have the option for days when my poor old eyes don't feel like working so hard.
It seems to start much faster: from clicking on the icon to being able to start working is about 5-6 seconds now, before it was 20-30 seconds on my system.
I lost all my smart content due to the change in the content management system from Valentina to PostGres (until I can figure out how to reimport it) but I didn't really use that feature much.
That's about it - I haven't noticed any other changes since I never ran into any of the issues that were fixed.

It start faster because you don't have any extra content folders yet, I think.
Mythic3D posted Sun, 17 May 2015 at 10:53 AM
Could be - but all the extra Carrara folders Iadded to the browser are there and all my various libraries appear under Content - it's just the Smart Content that doesn't appear.

Carrara 8.5.1.19 appears to be working nicely on mac 10.10.3. Now if they could just go get Bryce into working! I miss my Poser/Bryce/Carrara workflow. I have not spent much time trying to work with Gen 2 in the Carrara update much as yet, but it is loading them up rather nicely so far; however, I do keep finding breaks in the texture seams most often right at the thighs.

Is it just me or is Carrara and Bryce no longer part of the daz website? The only thing I can find reference to it is the forum. If you're just browsing the site not logged in, I don't know how you would know Carrara or Bryce was at Daz.

Kix, I think you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find Bryce and Carrara or look under Software.
I am in love with Carrara again with this release. It downloaded, installed, and ran with no problems. My Smart Content is working also. I've used Postgres for quite awhile now. The larger font is a dream come true for me.

Still couldn't find it.
Very interesting.

You can reimport your Metadata using either DAZ Studio or Install Manager.

Thanks bhoins - I eventually figured it out (did it through studio). :)
And I can say for certain that it is definitely starting up much faster than it did before. I'm not sure why, but I'm not complaining either. :)

That may be due to Carrara defaulting to Fast Mipmap for the image maps. Try changing them to Sampling to see if that solves it.
