Hello Snarly,
I post this here in the forum instead of sending you a PM, because there is a chance that other people might find the suggested change to your script useful, and might wish to use it too:
One of the great features of your SubD script is that it actually changes the geometry of a prop, so unlike the Poser native SubD I am able to use your script on - let's say a simple cube - and I can SubD it and make indents to the prop when someone is sitting on it! (think of a pouffe)
The great benefit of this (and which is the reason for my request) is that I don't even have to export/modify in external modeller/reinport a prop, but I can make subdivision (which can subsequently be deformed with the morph brush) "on the fly", just as needed in a particular scene.
Another great thing about your SubD script is that it subD's to quads instead of triangles.
This is good because Poser handles quads much better than triangles, but it's even better when you subdivide above-mentioned cube: it gives you far better deformability than you can ever achieve by simply triangulating.
To be precise, your script is not just good, it's simply great!
Now, to my request:
The only way (afaik) to make the subD stick is to start a render, then abort it to go back to the preview and have the subD'ed prop in the scene for further morphing. (make sure that "Undo after render" is UN-checked!)
Only thing left to do is to delete the original prop, and eventually reparent the subD'ed prop.
SUGGESTION:
Why not add the subD *without" the need to launch a render?
Add another button to the script "Subdivide without rendering", and maybe even an option "delete old prop" instead of just making it invisible.
(Basically it would be the same function as "render", just without the "render" part)
Maybe some other people might find this useful too because we ever so often run into a sofa which consists of "bricks", and your script is a great way to add geometry to deform it!
And all that without the hassle of exporting/using a modeller/importing/noticing that something went wrong/etc. etc. asf.
Just by using Poser, and your script...
Peter
