Congratulations MDO2010! You've won nothing but dubious recognition.
So, as you probably know by now, the winner gets to pick the next subject and here it is:
How about "Splines and Things That Rhyme with Splines" for the next theme. :)
For those who are as bad at rhyming as I am with the Spline modeler...

Pixel pushing poets unite!
Post your entries in this thread. Oh, and since I've heard from several of you (including me talking to myself, since no one else listens) we will have a longer challenge gestation this time. The Deadlines is: Saturday, June 20, 12 midnight Hawaii time.

This little piggy went to the winners circle!
-------
The first thing I thought of that rhymes with spline was swine!
So here is a swine pulling a spline.....

I hate it when I'm working on a scene and my characters do this. What a bunch of pigs.
Nicely done!

Really sorry to had not take part of the last one, to much work...
I want to try this but I don't understand very well the topic (poor old Belgian French speaking...)
MarkBremmer posted Wed, 10 June 2015 at 11:59 AM
@ dudu.car, No worries. The goal is to use the Spline Modeler in Carrara and make something that rhymes with 'spline' if possible.
DUDU.car posted Tue, 16 June 2015 at 2:27 PM
No winner this week ?
Very difficult topic I think.
I tried the spline modeler with the few rhymes which I could propose, but the spline modeler is still a great mystery for me !
It seems that I'm not alone or in fact, the holidays approach ?
MarkBremmer posted Tue, 16 June 2015 at 3:35 PM
@dudu.car, You'll see that this contest deadline is NEXT Saturday, June 20. Go crazy!
DUDU.car posted Tue, 16 June 2015 at 4:58 PM
Afflicted, I hadn't noticed that !
Moreover, I never know the current date and I must thinking for the year…
Happy man ?... No, just cool a little but, that doesn't change anything with my problem… the spline modeler !

Yes, beautiful character.
Your image is not a caricature of mahomet, that's for sure !
He he, I'm Charlie...

Ok, I will pick the low-hanging fruit since nobody else is. Spline and Wine.
The glasses, the wine in the glass and the splash on the table are all spline objects.
DUDU.car posted Sat, 20 June 2015 at 2:17 AM
Excellent, one can even see the environment of the table, the chandelier, the window and one guesses the smoker on the left.
Superb work !
You should make a tuto to explain how to do that !
MarkBremmer posted Sat, 20 June 2015 at 10:18 AM
Thanks for the kind words. I'll record a video tutorial this coming week and post a link.
I'd do it today but I, instead, have the pleasure of vacuuming and dusting in preparation for visitors this weekend!
Here are some screen grabs of the splash to answer a question asked about this in the DAZ forum.

@Mark:
Thanks for making a tutorial. I look forward to view and learn from it.
Please do not forget to include the transparency parameters for the glass. I remember that you mentioned these parameters in a post here or in Daz forums, but I can't find the thread.

Ok, I finally was able to do a walk-through of the wine glass scene. Hope you get something useful out of it:

Your tuto is perfect !
There is to much to learn in the same time, but I will see it again and again ...
One thing that I would have liked to learn is "How to build a glass" in the spline modeler.
There is only a few tuto about this modeler and it seems that we can do some very nice subtleties not easy to do in vertex modeling.
The lesson about the shaders and surrounding is also great, thank you !
