I have a large scene and when I am focusing on a certain figure I want to rotate around that figure in my view port but when I do so
it takes a wide arc. I want view port to rotate tightly around the figure. How do I that? (I hope I'm making sense.) (Poser 9)
Thanks.

I might be misunderstanding your question but with the object you want to focus on selected I tend to zoom in the object using the mouse wheel and then pressing on the mouse wheel which is also your third button on most window based mice you can pan around your object and only your selected object
Hope this helps

in user preffs make sure you have "zoom to mouse position" and "rotate around selection" ticked on interface tab
also try setting to orbit style to turntable from trackball if your still having problems (that's on input tab)
have found some people like one but not the other ..

Thanks, heddheld, but in my Poser 9 I don't have "zoom to mouse position" and "rotate around selection" ticked on interface tab

I don't understand. What's Poser have to do with it exactly?
Tools : 3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender
v2.74
System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB
GPU.

Very sorry guys. Got the two programs mixed up.
"in user preffs make sure you have "zoom to mouse position" and "rotate around selection" ticked on interface tab"
I did this and it worked in Blender. Now I just need to find out how to do the same in Poser.
Thank you and sorry for the confusion.

No worries we all get confused here it is how we all make sense grins As to Poser not 100% sure how you would accomplish the same thing might want to also ask in the Poser forum where you might find an answer make sure you do let them know which version of Poser your using to get the best answer.
Good Luck
