…so why is it always the default material selected for Victoria 4 when I enter the Material Room? Manual not helpful here.
CyberDream posted Wed, 17 June 2015 at 11:35 PM
it's the first material referenced in the CR2

I've seen some of the renders that some persons in the Poser community like to do... I would downgrade that "probably" prediction a little bit, if I were you.

@ Cyberdream:
To be precise, it's the first material group declared in the .obj file, because that's what causes the somewhat illogical "sort order". So just changing the sort order in the .cr2 file file won't help, because Poser will ignore that and stick to the .obj file's sort order...

Now I have a request for the next version of Poser, a checkbox for setting default or at least remembering last material for a figure. Thanks.

users could re-order blMilWom_v4b.obj file. maybe there's some way daz would allow redistrib.
they would grab:
g head
usemtl 4_InnerMouth
g upperJaw
usemtl 4_Gums
g lowerJaw
g upperJaw
usemtl 4_Teeth
g lowerJaw
g tongue05
usemtl 4_Tongue
g tongueTip
g tongue04
et al. (seems like most of file is head parts)
and move 'em down. or grab body parts and move 'em up. maybe util. avail. fr this.
maybe daz ordered them head-to-foot.

I think that's a good idea, though I'd rather prefer Poser "remembering last material for a figure".
Setting a "default" material zone would be just the same as what we have now (after all, "Inner Mouth" is a default zone, kind of...) - and I guarantee you that the next time you need to change a material zone, it will not be the zone which you set as default - Murphy's Law :D

EDIT:
Sorry Miss Nancy, crosspost...

here's one where I switched 'em:
dunno who wrote util nor what it's called. maybe cr2 editor will do it.

Poser uses the material order first found in the obj file. You can easily force a different order thou.
All you have to do is add a usemtl list to the beginning of the obj file that defines the order you want it to appear.
usemtl 2_SkinTorso
usemtl.............
Etc, etc, etc. Each usemtl call has to be on it's own line, and you want to add all of the materials.
If you have Antonia WM, it has a list to do that in it.
I change the order in many of my characters, which gives the added bonus of alerting you when Poser creates a new obj file. Poser will not add the list to the beginning of the file, and it will go back to the default order if Poser saves out a new OBJ.
