Hopefully all will forgive the crassness of posting on-topiic;

I dragged Poser 7 over to my Windows 7 machine, and it does indeed crash with any manipulation of the UI.  It appears to be a video driver related issue, as suggested earlier.  I'm using the latest non-beta AMD Catalyst driver.  From the Event Log..

Well even if I agreed, Mr Shane would only get angry again.  Actually, I think you're just a little naive and that's probably the term I should have used most times in these conversations - so fair enough.  I'm man enough to admit if I'm out of line.  I certainly don't intend to offend people, it's just that some things are so obviously bad news that they should be avoided at all costs.  In less than, say, 6 years time, youngsters, teenagers and young adults especially will look upon these recent decades and wonder how the fuck they could be so naive.

Oh I think Shane would go easy on you in this case as you would only be agreeing with my suggestions and far be it from me to try and get you into trouble.  As to me being naive, well I must admit that did raise a smile, there can't be many that have reached my age and managed to stay naive.  My own take on it is that after so many years of 'doom and gloom' predictions you become immune, after all you can only predict the end of the world a few times before people stop listening.  I am not offended either, you clearly think outside the box and are passionate in your beliefs, nothing wrong in that.  For me, thinking that deeply just gives me a headache so I don't do it and I am also an optimist,  I must be otherwise the world might really turn out to be as bad as I think it is.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

That is interesting, mind you I have a very expensive HP scanner that is hardly used but it won't work in Windows 7 as they did not write any drivers, hence I have a 'scanning' PC running Windows XP.  These things happen I guess and Poser 7 is getting a bit long in the tooth although I do accept this is bad news for people on a tight budget.

Poser 7 works for me with these settings; not all of the restrictions may be necessary, as I don't feel compelled to spend a great deal of time fooling with it...

on the Linux vs Windows debate, i use a spectrum 48k running a virtual dragon32 emulator, it's a bit slow loading Victoria 4 but it's totally secure cause it can't connect to the internet.  Need quite a lot of floppy disks for the library....
