Surely all you need to do is buy the Genesis 2 to 3 pose converter or Pose builder, a few G3 expressions, hair outfits and clothes and you are good for another year or so. All you have learnt in DS can still be used and the good new is all the stuff you require is on sale at the moment. :-)
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I already went back to crayons. Don't do it. It's a money pit for sure.
I guess maybe I should stop eating them or sticking them in my nose.....

Paint on top of your V4 and you can get the results of G3 at a 10th of the price :)

It was moved to the DAZ forum on RO. Since V7 is not Poser compatible, it didn't belong in the Poser forum.

You did. I saw it too. Was at the home of V7 and 17 pages in someone had a correct observation.
Poser users and Smith Micro would have to retool TWICE just to keep up with Victoria.
Heck there's stuff from V3 I'm not sure I've used yet :P

Try colored pencils. They're at least long enough to dig back out of your nose if need be. ;)

Not sure why you have to learn to use G3, for me it was plug and play and most of my cool V4 stuff is converted over. Doing the Major Cache stuff for her now ;)

The V7 thread is alive and kicking in the Daz forum. It was moved there as it does not work in Poser and therefore is a Daz only figure,

Crayons will still be around. If not, I'm going to have a big problem when I have to tell those I'm supervising to shut up and color.

So the next question is, what will SM release that's on par with Victoria 7 (and I'll assume Michael 7 is to follow)? AFAIK Rex and Roxie have been duds when it comes to competing with Victoria and Michael...

Thread challenge....Load any character V4 or before into Poser. Change display style in the drop down to outline and print. That is if you know what a printer is or might actually own one. Now here comes the actual thread challenge....get out your big box of 64 (or was that 128) crayola crayons...has to be the big box with the crayon sharpener in the front panel of the box. Now start coloring. The challenge is to see if you can stay within the lines. No assistance using Children under the age of 8 allowed.
Just what the market needs more sub-division of content. The poor vendors have to be running for the hills and screaming at the top of their lungs in pain.
