I still use Carrara from time to time.

All content that i have on my account was obtain because they we're free. I prefer modeling and lighting myself to better my skills. I bought Carrara because the cost was cheaper (even compare to Cinema 4D prime and others) and offer a lot for a small package. I bought learning video from PhilW. I have all upgrade, i own Carrara 8.5 pro, i proud of having it because i like the simple interface and i am used to it since i was using Bryce and had RayDream in the past.

But since Daz got Carrara and they put out Studio, Carrara, Bryce and hexagon to include others, were bought only so another company would not have them. So i was reading Chris Creek interview again yesterday and i think i did a good choice of getting Cinema 4D Prime and i was able to get last year Lightwave 3D 11.6. I am still on learning path like any software.

For me i think that the best choice would be someone with enough cash to buy from Daz Carrara, Bryce and Hexagon and bring them up to date with today software or combine the best of each to create a new one. If i had the money i would do it because i think Carrara has a lot to offer and even if missing options from others, it is still a very good entry software into 3D.

just my 0.01.

@Spaceland: The idea of a company buying Carrara has been discussed in this thread: Link

Assuming that an acquiror is able to find a team of bright and talented developers willing to commit a career suicide by working on decrepit piece of softwares like Carrara, Hexagon and Bryce, the question is: How much are these 3 apps worth?

The price I would offer to acquire them would be $250,000.- for Carrara, 125,000.- for Hexagon and eventually $125,000.- for Bryce., for a total of $500,000.-, assuming that I get a lifetime and unrestricted development license on Daz/Poser compatible contents as well.
