Recently, after using Poser until late into the night... I wake up with an out of memory error... is there anything I can do? I've considered upgrading my memory.... but my head is such an old model... I'm not even sure I could find memory for it. I've considered upgrading my entire system... but I'd have to transfer EVERYTHING over to it... ugh... Any ideas?! PS - The preceeding was not an actual post. Had it been an actual post... I would have been awake.

There's a web site... www.oldetimers.huh that has potential upgrades for the memory buffer. their prices are a bit steep though, but some of the reports from satisfied users state that they can actually remember their names now.. and even those of their children... This was not an actual reply... if it had been an actual reply then it would have been more obfuscated..

Out of memory errors seem to occur with corrupted poser files. Save frequently to reduce the problem. I don't think it is due to real memory problems.

Hmmm... I'm not sure... generally I get the out of memory errors when I try to get up out of bed.... perhaps the bed mesh is corrupt. OR...perhaps the body mesh is corrupted... I have no doubts that the head mesh has been corrupted for quite some time!

I posted about memory problems in the Poser Technical, and got no replies. On my own, I think I have discovered two things. One is that if you are using Internet Explorer at the same time as Poser, IE will gobble up your memory because it doesn't clean itself out. I also increased the virtual memory setting to 384 MB (I have 128 MB RAM). I haven't been having memory problems of late (don't know what contribution the virtual memory made). However, my renders take forever, and I hear that hard drive working hard on the renders. I would also guess based on my limited knowledge that upgrading your RAM should be a big help, and it wouldn't force you to buy a new system. Upgrading the chip should speed up processing time with renders, but it isn't going to give you any extra memory.

Do you baku to discs? If so, make one last BU and restore to the new computer.

Hehe... Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to mention that the original post was a joke. I was just exhausted this morning after playing around with Poser until the wee hours of the morning. The memory errors were just me forgetting things... like where I put the keys, my pager, and silly things like that. This isn't indicitive of an actual poser problem... but more of a poser USER problem... =)

Back when I discovered the out of memory error message, I was able to find out (thanks to the great folks here) that for some dumb reason, that is poser's default error message. Chances are, you are not really out of memory, but that poser can't find a file, or one is corrupted. For me, the problem was a missing .obj file. However it popped up again, when I had a corrupt cr2. Hopefully the next installment of poser will correct this message. Dragontales

I find that the more memory that I give my confuser the more memory I loose. The message that comes up is in referance to no brain in the container. If the problem continues, make 3 new poses and see a poser specialist as soon as possible. skee

I'm getting that message when I attempt to render. The program then freezes. I have tried reinstalling, but that has made no difference. It was working ok a couple of days ago. Does anyone have any idea what is going on???
