I've a few more things to do on the inside of the chambers and then it will be done.Michael B. posted Wed, 01 September 1999 at 6:40 AM
Love the feather headress, and the textures are very nice, too. I like the lighting effects, but I have two quick suggestions. First, you may (depending on the effect you are after) want to exchange the cool lighting on the Queen with the warm light that is in the middle background. They say warm colors seem to advance, and cool colors seem to recede. However, if you want that "aloof" attitude, I think it's fine the way it is. Also, the Queen does not seem to be casting a shadow on the platform or the throne. Since the light is coming from above, her legs and back should cast a shadow pretty much straight below them. (I am looking in particular at the area by her left foot and where her back touches the throne, under the right arm.) Did you render the Queen and her throne separately and then composite that with the background? Or maybe the light source is not set to cast shadows? I'm not real sure, but I think the jars and the other stuff on the platform are like that too. It doesn't seem quite firmly "attached." That's just my opinion though. Still, it's very nice as it is. Hope this helps a little. Michael B.

heya; its great, bubba. i agree about the shadows, too. the objects look more or less okay, but her leg looks like it could use a shadow.

I removed the ceiling and surrounding walls for this preview so that the atmosphere would cast it's natural light upon the scene. I placed a single source light near the right side of the queen and turned the shadowing off so that the model would be highlighted for this view. When the entire chamber is completed there will be other sources of light giving shadow the the objects in question as the atmosphere will be turned off. The headdress is a modification of virus's Penuche which I touched up in Photoshop and it can be had at the Props Guild and of course the throne by -3-. So fear not my friends the shadows are coming.
