I've been out of the Poser Game for a couple of years and just bought the Poser 10 Upgrade, I downgraded from Poser Pro 2012 because I don't use the advanced features that a professional would use.  I don't want to start any issues, but I really don't know the answer to this question, so please bear with me.  Before I stopped doing CG work  Just before I stopped working with 3D there was a plugin that allowed you to port the Genesis Figure into Poser, I didn't want to get into all that.  Has there been any progress in native Poser import support for Genesis--or is that simply a lost cause.  I'll be frank, though I like the Genesis Figure, I hate Daz Studio, but I unfortunately bought a lot of Genesis content.  After installing Windows 10 my outdated Daz Studio installation stopped working.  So I'm in a quandary as to whether to install the newerst version and jettison it and just use Poser.  I have been very disappointed in the development of Poser Specific human being development, but I really would like to stick to one platform.

There is DSON for getting Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 to work in Poser and I think others have developed other ways to get it to work.  The latest, Genesis 3 has a few changes from Genesis 1 and 2 and does not work in Poser even with DSON as I understand it. I don't use Genesis, never have and stuck with V4WM but in the last few days I have been playing with Dawn SR2 from Hirewire3d which comes in both a Poser and a Daz version.  

 

 

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

In short, no. If you intend on using Genesis1/2 in Poser then you have to use the D-SON plug-in. I think some have said that it has improved since its initial release but that seems to be a case-by-case opinion.

There are others who have taken on the challenge of digging deeper into things and created their own versions of Genesis1/2 that are saved into Poser's library, but it's not a simple process and has to be done with every item you use, as far as I understand it. And most of the functionality is gone that way, so it's a situation where you're saving each character as its own figure, something to that effect. And iirc, it does require the use of DS initially, to get the genesis figure out of DS properly.

And, no, on the male figures.

Dawn does have a male counterpart named Dusk, but none of the fun bits.

There is also Rex and Roxie that came with Poser 10, but very little content available for Roxie, and virtually nothing for Rex.

Missed the last question.  There is Dusk, again from Hivewire3D and he is free at the moment.  Dawn is not free but the Special Edition is on sale at the moment.

There is another figure here at Rendo called Scarlet, and not wanting to start a war here, I think I can safely say that the figure was not well received in some quarters.  I do use Scarlet but it is early days and there is more support for Dawn at present, assuming you want a new figure.

The logic of DAZ3D escapes me. They give away the software and sell the models at twice their price albeit good looking stuff.  By separating the new DAZ figures from Poser, it gets down to a flat choice of Poser vs DAZ studio.  

The hitch in the plan is that any artist can make product for Studio for which DAZ3D gets nothing.

Thanks for adding the links, I wanted to do that but when I answered this is was the early hours of the morning, well a little later actually, and I only did half the job.  I was keen however to give a response to someone returning to Poser after a break with what I hoped was informational rather than confrontational response.

You can get Genesis 1 and 2 into Poser to use natively but like Shane said it does take some work, but it isn't difficult. Some functionality maybe gone, such as geografting, but the lion's share of the features remain. The downside is that you need to have DS installed at least to export the CR2's out of for using in Poser. If you hate DS then you probably don't want to have it installed nor take the time. However, if you have purchased a lot of Genesis content then it may be worth your while to at least try making CR2s for your figures so that you can use them in Poser. I guess you'll have to weigh it ;). FWIW, Genesis 2 looks just about as good in Poser as it does in DS as a native CR2 after the work is done. I use DSON and native CR2s. Conversely, you CAN get Genesis 3 (the newest one) into Poser as a CR2, but I'm afraid for that figure it DOES take a lot of difficult work and you still lose all the facial expressions. Not really worth it for version 3.

The most detailed tutorial to get Genesis 1 and 2 out of DS as a CR2 is at RuntimeDNA. Do a Google search for "exporting Genesis 2 as a CR2 for Poser" and chose the RDNA link with the tute posted by moriador.

You'll see me around more now, I had gotten burned out and discouraged with my CG work--my audience was very fickle in the galleries. I was concentrating more on my first love, photography, but I ready to do some more 3D stuff now--in addition to my photography.

Thanks for you replies, it seems that not much has changed in the past 2 years since I've been gone. I would perfer to work with Genesis in Daz Studio if it's more complicated in Poser--I purchased a lot of Genesis Content and I don't want my money to go to waste.

Poser is still my favorite human 3D program; when I upgraded my computer to Windows 10 my version of Vue because non-functional, it even came up with a box when I opened saying "Your version of Vue is not compatible with this version of Windows". I hate Eon, they have gotten too expensive for me to continue to upgrade--and I'm not renting. I wish they could come up with an good outdoor environment native to Poser--but that doesn't seem on the agenda. I also with that they could come out with a decent line of new human figures for Poser that rivaled Daz's . I don't think there has been a decent native Poser human since James.
