I don't know if I'm in the right place. I see that some people who create Poser characters apply the skin texture from other characters. Is that hard to do? I have no idea how to do it.

Probably the regular Poser forum would be your best bet.
To answer your question, if you are trying to get a Vickie 4 skin onto, say, Alyson, then no. But if you have a bunch of models based on the V4 character, then, yes. Just load V4, then you can mix and match the body morphs, face morphs and skins (mats) for all of your V4 based models however you like. Is that what you're asking?

Thanks! I recently came across a great Poser morph. The artist said he used the skin from another (purchased) character. If by skin, he means he used a purchased character as a base to start morphing, I do that all the time. But if he means applying another character's skin texture and color, I haven't figured out how to do that.
