Subject: Bandwidth allowance? Since when?

I was going to download the Canvas chair by Bopperthijs in the Freestuff area. Imagine my surprise when I was told (on September 2nd, no less) that I had exceeded some monthly bandwidth allowance! What is that all about. It is not in the Freestuff FAQ anywhere, or in the TOS. What gives? See screenshot below. Are you folks messing with me because I said I was not happy with your new website? Because it's beginning to feel that way.

That message would suggest that the Freestuff provider is the one who has exceeded their bandwidth allotment, not you. In other words, the item you're trying to download is hosted in a location that has limited bandwidth, so further downloads can't be allowed at this time. It's not connected to your account or membership here.

And yet Renderosity's own TOS states that no restrictions are to apply. Sounds like a restriction to me. In a big way. And on the 2nd of September!

Can you post a link to the freestuff item itself, so I can have a look? I believe that message is coming from the place where they are hosting their item, but I would think first that it's not hosted here. It's probably hosted in an offsite location where there are restrictions, and Renderosity's large download volume caused it to exceed quickly.

@rubel: I checked the resource you were trying to download. The problem with this file is that the creator of this free item has chosen to host it in his Renderosity file locker system to store and host his freebie. This part of the site may be undergoing changes because of the site upgrades, or it may simply be that his item has exceeded certain limitations. I'll check on this, but rest assured it's not something to do with your account in any way. The same message appears when I attempt to download it as well.

LuxXeon - you are a tenacious fellow! I thank you for all the investigative effort. Yes, it must be that changes are still cascading down to other things and the file locker is probably not up there with, say, the Marketplace which would logically come first. At least I no longer feel persecuted! I should probably refer to you as Dr. LuxXeon now.😃
