Trying to get a texture image to show up on a plane. It's present on the sphere in the preview window, but not on the plane. I've got this to work before, but I guess I forgot how.

Texture view turned it brown, but it doesn't even render a texture.

OK think I got it. Was following an older tutorial that gave different instructions :)

If you don't want to do it manually in the future, there is an add-on called (I think) Import Images as Plane - it's included in Blender but turned off by default. You just select the image and the add-on will create a plane with the same proportions and set up a basic Cycles material for it. I feel like it's always good to know how to do these things yourself, but once you get it, it's just unnecessary busy-work and an add-on like this can be a real time saver.

This program is full of surprises. Thanks for the tip.
