I need a good replacement for the old WinZip app to extract zip files downloaded from Renderosity for V4 and related products.
I got something from the Windows app store that will do the very basics, but I need something that will let me choose exactly where to extract to such as DAZ 3D/My Library.
The one I got defaults to My Downloads and does not give me the choice of anywhere else. I thought about using the current WinZip available from the store, but it got horrible reviews.
Is there a good unzipping app that you use that allows you control of where to extract content to?

Go direct to WinZip and avoid the app from store as it seems to give no choice of install path. Win 10 is covered. I had same issue

I like 7zip. it's free and you can unzip from anywhere all through the folder tree.

Winrar is my preference. Timberwolf's suggestions is also very good.

7-zip. Nothing beats it.

A lot of people were dissing 7Zip in the app store, for reasons I've forgotten now, but the negative comments were the reason I decided against it.
I chose WinZip from the main WinZip site, and then got a lot of malware warnings from my security program. Had a lot of malware to clean up afterward which I think is taken care of now. It does work to give me more control of where to extract to, but the new GUI is kinda confusing. With the old WZ, I used to be able to just select:
Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library and about 9/10 times would get it done right.
But now, when I use the newer WinZip and choose Extract To for My Library, all it does is extract the documentation, but not the main content like morphs, poses & such. That's when choosing the WinZip icon in the scroll down menu after right clicking the zip file.
Now if I choose Open With at the top of that scroll down menu and choose WinZip, it gives me more to work with & I have a lot more choices. The question now is which folder within folder do I choose? Do I choose the first Runtime folder within My Library or the Runtime folder within the top level Runtime folder or something else entirely?

If your runtime folder is the only folder in the zip file, you extract it to My Library. This is the first level within that folder and the extraction will merge runtime content. Do not extract a runtime into another runtime; that will nest the folders and make it harder for the application to find content, texture and morphs.

I highly recommend 7-Zip. I have been using it for years without issue. (And I don't mean once in a while or just to unzip.)

I use 7-zip myself and have never had a problem with it. I don't know why you would be getting it from an app store though, there may be a droid version but you sure aren't rendering on a tablet.

diogenese,
I wasn't downloading from Android app store for smart phones. lol I'm talking about the Windows app store.

Did some research with the 7-Zip Windows 10 from the Windows store. If you download your Zip and go to the save location select the folder and right click you find all the actions there > extract file and first thing it asks is where you want to unzip to. As I said previously I had same issue as Mark it looked very light on features in fact about as useless as boobs on a bull.
I did not experience the same over malware warnings with WinZip and it turned up nothing here on a scan of the file. Although I noticed there was an update since I got it.
