Is there a way to change Poser back to English. When I installed it, the buttons and program were in another language. Please help!!!

Yes. In Poser under File>Preferences> Interface the top right tab in that pane is language dropdown

If in different language then Edit is second heading in toolbar at top and Preferences is the bottom selection depending on language it may look a little similar to english enough to work your way through :-) Hopefully if it is in language other than english you can use dropdown as appears greyed out from where I am at.

To be honest, I never heared about the possibility to changethe language of Poser, I know only the English and then localized versions for German and Japanese but no possibility to decide during the installation to choose the language. I would ask the support of Smith Micro either with a support ticket under https://support.smithmicro.com/customer/login?return_to=%2Fcustomer%2Fportal%2Femails%2Fnew or by Email to support@smithmicro.com.

Thank you. I see after getting to the interface it is on French. But the option appears to be locked to change it. It appears to be available but when I try to click it to scroll down it stays frozen at the option French. You think there is something else in the preferences that I must press to unlock the option from French to English?

I wonder if you can reinstall the software and change the english at the setup stage if the .exe is on your HD you would not need to download it again or the content. I found out a method of changing it but it is less than satisfactory and apparently leaves your toolbar a bit of a mess. The rest not so bad. Makes you wonder why have the option in preference if you can't change it as you already know it is not the language you want. Take Jules suggestion and seek support but I think this will be what will be required to change it.

I found a solution to this bug. If you want to change the language:

  1. Go into your Poser directory : (C:Program FilesSmith MicroPoser Pro 2014Documentation )

  2. Make a backup of the Documentation folder. (just in case you decide you want to change the language again later)

  3. Now go into the the original folder and delete German and Japanese folders.

4.Restart Poser and it should work just fine now.

I don't have a Documentation folder. Not sure what you're referring to. I don't need to change language but if others are trying to, this will require some more explanation.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I believe I found a complete fix. I deleted all folders/files titled "German" or "Japanese" but there were still some left over German words in the program; so the solution is to trick the program to reference the desired languages by altering the "languages.xml" file located in the "C:Program FilesSmith MicroPoser Pro 2014Runtimeui" folder. Since I replaced German with my desired language, English, I needed to switch these words everywhere within this xml document. Follow these steps: 1: Right click this xml file and click "edit" (open in notepad) 2: Click "edit" then "replace" in the notepad menu. 3: Find what: English - Replace with: robotnerd (any word that is unlikely to be in this document will work, this is just a placeholder) Click Replace. 4: Find what: German - Replace with: English - Click Replace. 5: Find what: robotnerd - Replace with: German - Click Replace. 6: Click Save

Now the words that the program thinks are German are actually English words. The program is now in English.

Hi all,

I second Jules. I've never ever heard about a method to change the language in Poser.

I'm a German but I use the English versions of Poser over years, 'cause they are running more stably.

In my Poser Pro 2014 is no possibility to change the language:

I think I've figured it out. Shut down poser/ delete every ui and pref file you can find/ uninstall poser/ do a final search for left over pref and ui files, delete them if any. then get a different serial # from Smith Micro. I think, at least in my case I had a German serial #. This worked for me.
