Subject: Some clothing not showing up when importing into Poser

  • Hi,
    • I am having problems bringing some clothing into Poser 11.
  • Most things show up but some don't.
  • I think it is a DSON problem.
  • Any advice will be appreciated.

It might be due some bone errors in the Script, Missing bones, Try exporting the files as Cr2 not as Dyson py Import files it might give best compabilities and load faster into Poser . if the issue consists then you will have the option to load the Created OBJ file to check if it is complete, in normal cases the Obj should be working. If you still having using the new created CR2 an issue with non visible parts you can try to use the Obj creating a new outfit trans-fairing the joint zones from the nonworking Cr2 and then save the new created outfit.

First: check that the folder you installed the DSON core files to is a Poser external Runtime folder (and that you did install the core files, of course).

If that's OK, in DS check that the mesh is made of groups that match the bone names (using the Geometry editor tool compare the list of bones in the Scene pane with the list of face groups in the Tool settings pane).

Hi gate, Can you tell me where I can find the "Created OBJ file ". I'm sure it is a missing obj problem. Cheerio lululee

Gate is calling it Dyson importer instead of DSON Importer so it is safe to say he doesn't know what he is talking about. Listen to Mr. Haseltine.

when you are in DS export your outfit as CR2 same as you would export a prop as Obj ! selecting Cr2 version . when it asks you the path on were you want to save it it is best to have a separate creation folder runtime for Poser. in the Creation folder you copy all the textures needed for that outfit this way you wll get a good package for your work.

As soon as you save the DS model as CR2 in this folder it will generate the needed Obj file for the Cr2 . Add the path of your creation folder to Poser this way you can always use it when making new Conversions. Now you will be able to load the Fully compatible file and check if it is complete. the obj is created in the Creation folder in it's runtime under Geometries. the obj will have its name and a number behind it . for best results you can also use an App like Runtime repair to fix the paths and rearrange your work.

now if you have still an issue with missing body-parts on the outfit , just import the Obj that you find in the geometries it will be complete. the next steps would be to use the fitting room or the setup room to copy the rigging of the doll or trying to get the rigging of the damaged Cr2 created to the Obj loaded. there is not much work if it is for the doll it was made for as the grouping is in the Obj so it is just a matter to get the bone-structure into that outfit. these steps will also give you the opportunities to fit it to other dolls.

@ jestmart if you would be smart it might be better to at least give suggestions for the problem instead of discriminate someone who helps just because of a typo , but there allot of your kind that have no idea about the matter.

the main issue is in DS that the creator sometimes messes up the bones. so you load a Helmet as sample in this sample you see the bone structure hip and only a part of the mesh is directed to this bone actually the Pads in this case if exporting such a file to poser it will only load the bones but cant load the geometry into the scene.

In poser now as for it will not be able to read such a bone system , to be honest it is not logical to bone a Helmet to the hip and also only the pads you need to load the created Obj file like I explained before , the CR2 or DSON will not work at all. in the image you now can see the loaded Obj and how it is Grouped , in our case an assembled prop that was quickly rigged to a Hip. the Groups are not correct ! what you need to to now is to regroup the parts in the Obj with the correct body-part names , or alternatively try in the Setup rrom to load the corrupt CR2 trans-fairing the bones to the Obj hoping that it will still work in Poser conforming it to a Genesis Model.

As you can see in this case you load the bone structure of the Corrupt Cr2 into the Obj file , naturally it will result to have the same structure like it was made in DS , but I doubt that it will work correctly this way as it will generate a new group called Hip. Assigned to the whole figure. so the most secure way to convert it for Poser would be to Regroup the parts and trans-fair the doll's rigging to the Figure.

to check the Bonestructure In DS it is not the Geometry Editor ! you might wanna use the Joint Editor this way you are able to see on how the bonestructure is done ! you will see if the Figure would be compatible in Poser and why it is not compatible. If the figure looks like the one shown you will know that it most probably will not work as only one part is assigned to the one and only bone. if loading an outfit that has missing assigned regions you will know that these will not show in Poser. To fix the issue in DS would not work like regrouping there and assigning Missing bones there you will have to use Poser as it is more sophisticated for rigging and boning.
