My Poser 4 (still most useful for me) has suddenly, after many years, announced: Warning: Cannot open scripts, cameras and lights. ** I have a second functioning Pozer 4 but transferring what look like relevant files does nothing. What can I do about this?.

Poser 4, long long time ago, did you try the standard trick and deleted the poser.ini. I can't remember but if the file exists, delete also the PoserPrefs.xml.
