It will soon be summer time, and it will be time for Daz to hire a team of inexperienced interns to work on Carrara for another sloppy disastrous 'release' of the glorious 8.5.x.x series, by the end of September 2016.

This new 'release' will have a hastily put-together Connect functionality that will be mostly unusable except in some very exceptional situations and for only a handful of users.

It will also have an embryonic Genesis 3 implementation that will be, again, unusable for most users. As a result of this embryonic implementation all the weight-painting/weight-mapping functions that used to work reasonably well in C7 and C8.1 will be so badly screwed-up that they will become useless. It is also very possible that the UV-mapping functions too will be badly damaged in this new 'release' .

Here is a list of screw-ups that I am reporting on this new 'release', without having even seen it:

  1. The Open GL 3D view will be noticeably less responsive than in 8.1.1.12. This scene (See Link) or this scene (See Link) will take 5 to 10 minutes to load in fully textured mode, while they take less than a minute in C8.1.1.12

  2. The native renderer will be 10% to 12% slower when all textures are set to Gaussian Filtering. This is probably due to the introduction of Fast Mipmapping filtering mode, which apparently screwed-up everything else.

  3. The Auto-Detect Runtimes will not work, and the content manager will be unusable because it will keep popping-up an annoying dialog each time you want to load a content.

  4. As a result of the amateurish Connect implementation, each time you click on a menu, it will try to access Daz servers to get an approval. As a result you will sometime have to wait several minutes to do anything.

  5. And of course, as I mentioned above, the Genesis 3 implementation will be embryonic at best, and all the existing weight-mapping/weight-painting functions, and possibly UV-mapping functions as well, will become a complete mess as a result.

And no, I am not drunk, I am just lucid, HA HA!!
