I use Silo and I know some other folks use it here as well. Silo is a one time download and no it is not free, but nor is it expensive. I purchased when I found it after its launch in 2008. And although I know Blender has its strengths, it is constantly changing and I don't handle change well at my age -grin-.
There is an article from PCWorld:
Silo Is A No-Nonsense 3D Modeler
As always just a suggestion. I applaud the resources provided by Renderosity and the helpful and friendly folks here.
Cheers, CT
