Subject: "Tire Tread Tracks" Prop anywhere?

Working on a graphic novel.

Can't find anything like this. But I'm looking for "tire tread tracks" as a poseable prop.

Anyone ever come up with anything like that?

Yes, I could add it in Photoshop, but since I'm also rendering Stereoscopic-3D versions of the panels too, life would be much easier if I could just lay it down on the sand, mud, or dirt.

Go to sharecg and search through Spacebones gallery in 3DObjects. I think the tread "tracks" are on page 8 or so.

Consider me insane if you wish, but is your reality any better?

Thread moved to the main poser forum.

THANKS!

Thanks for the more logical thread-move, Andy!

Bwldrd, I found them. Thank you very very much. Will give it a try. LOL! I'm not sure what you're exactly asking in your question, "is my reality any better?", but I believe it depends on whatever drugs I'm taking at the moment. 😏

@galaxiefilm: That's just bwldrd's "signature". It appears at the end of each post. My sig is green and in smaller font; it just specifies what OS & apps I'm using.

Namib has foot and wheel tracks: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/namib/92152/

Henning, are the foot and wheel tracks in Namib positionable and will they work on other surfaces or only within this product?

seachnasaigh posted Sat, 20 August 2016 at 6:42 PM

If the prop is something like a strip of polygons, you could clothify the tire track prop, and drape it onto the terrain.

Hmmm... I wonder if I could generate a pair of asymmetrical seamless tiles (a texture and a normal map) for tire tracks using Genetica?

Sounds like a good idea, seachnasaigh. Thanks!

Not familiar with Genetica, but I'll let everyone know what I finally use as a solution.

Right now, a different task is eating my time. So it'll be a little while before I can get back to this issue.

Galaxyfilm, no these are not positionable because they are textures for bump or displacement use. Of course you can make your own tracks in PS or so, but it's a real tricky thing.

I've made a second post after my first with a hint to the Footsteps Tool by Nerd3D, but the Rendo admin has deleted this one. Unfortunately this tool (former DAZ3D) is not longer available and so you have to contact Nerd3D and ask him why. I'm thinking that the tool (released 2008-12-16) would not run any more in newer Poser versions!??

Hmm, I was wrong. The Footsteps Tool works in Poser 14 as you can see:

There are 6 Ground materials (snow, sand, mud, etc.) in this pack.

This tool should solve your problems: 4.png

You can determine the tracks wide, depth, form and can S-curve it. These are props with magnets.

... and you can add dust with the Dust and Trail Tool by Nerd3D: Jeep with Dust.png

Thanks so much, Henning.

I know Charles and will send him a note asking where I can find the tool. He might have it on his own site or at Hivewire. I believe many of us know why it's no longer at DAZ.

This looks like a perfect solution. As I said in my initial post, I'm also doing S-3D renders, so adding the tracks in PhotosLop would be too dicey.

I'm using PP2012 at the moment.

I often do animation, and my drawing skills are minimal, so I, too, avoid postwork. 😏
