Well, a few of you might have seen Obi Wan Kenobi's light saber I put into the gallery. I made that in about three hours.
I have decided to make a collection of them. They take between one to four hours.
Stay tuned!

Very nice creations, but the handles are awkward to hold in a real sword fight.

Very nice, very convincing.

Darth Vader This completes all the lightsabers from episodes 4, 5, and 6.

Kenobi's first light saber from episode 1 (he lost it in the battle with Darth Maul). I will be away from my computer for a week so stay tuned for more lightsabers during a brief pause.

Very impressive work, bravo ! What are your render settings ?
cjd posted Sun, 04 September 2016 at 12:02 PM
Looks like you have broken some of the sharp edges with a small chamfer/fillet. Or, are you using the bevel in Shaders Plus?

Hello Dudu, here are my render settings.

Hello cjd. I am using bevel in shaders plus. This render tool works really well when it works and can suffer at other times. Almost everything in these models is setup using vertex meshes to control the meshing, keep it clean and improve the bevel shader performance. It does not work 100% of the time but it is a lot easier than actually modeling in the bevels.

Here is Mace Windu.
I think I will make Yoda next although I should make Dooku. Dooku is going to be a big challenge that I don't know I can manage!

Yoda.
Now it's either Palpatine or Dooku. Not sure yet. Starting to get tired of this project a little bit.

And now Dooku! A challenging model.
Next, and last, Palpatine.

These are all pretty neat!
Are they accurate to the actual movie props?
What are you using for reference material?
Kixum posted Wed, 07 September 2016 at 1:38 AM
And finally, Palpatine. I must confess that this model is not complete. There are 5 notches that should be along the side that I did not put in because I just didn't want to take the time to figure it out.
So, are these accurate? That's a good question. I have done some research on each one on the internet plus, I have several of the Hasbro higher end light sabers which are excellent references.
In a coupe of days, I will post a file here at Rendo in the Freebie stuff for all of these models (Carrara models only). These models also use some plug-ins in the textures.
