Hello, I am brand new to Poser/Daz. I made my first purchase of files, and I'm embarrassed to say that I've been trying for weeks to get them to play nice together. I've tried them in both Daz and Poser, and I can get the basic child image and the clothing (although I can't figure out how to manipulate it) but I can't even get the hair files to show up. I definitely should have started with something simpler, but I really need this file. Is there anyone that can help a newbie, or help me to make contact with the creator of the files, Ilona?
SpookieLilOne posted Sun, 11 September 2016 at 12:16 PM
Can you please post a link to the product(s) you are referring to?
What version of Poser and/or DS are you using?
And is it an issue with Ilona's product or other items in the scene?

Hi, I'm sure it's not a problem with Ilona's product. It's the fact that I likely don't know what I'm doing because I'm totally new to this, lol. I'm using DAZ Studio 4.9 and this is the link to the products. https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/kidding---poses-and-hair-for-k4/84399/ I can see the product folders in Daz Studio, but I'm doing something wrong because I can't open or use them. So frustrating!
MarilynB posted Sun, 11 September 2016 at 12:38 PM
I should add that I have purchased and installed the Basic Kids 4 and the Morphs, both of which are required to use these files.
SpookieLilOne posted Sun, 11 September 2016 at 1:22 PM
Ok will assist as much as possible since I am mainly a Poser user.
What I can tell you right off the bat. The hair is not created for use in 3D software. It is in PSD layers which would be added in what is called post-work,in your graphics program. (Such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, GIMP.)
Secondly there is no clothing included in this product, nor character presets or skins. It is strictly poses and the hair PSD's.
For the poses, I will point a friend who uses DS this way to better assist you.

And yes, I purchased the clothing separately, but it is supposed to work with this character...?

Hi MarilynB my name is Rose & I'll try ta help ya. Please let me know if I get confusing as I'm using ta helping 1 on 1 thru chat or such. I used V4 as she loads with bikini & I had kids present. So I'm hoping the figure difference is ok. Some hairs follow these steps but as Jamie said if yours are .psd files you need a 2D program to use those. Step 1-With the clothing the easiest way is load the figure (looks like you're using K4). Will be posting more steps-I figured images might help.

Step 4-Next look on the parameters tab under general to make sure clothing item says "Fit To ____" -in your case it would be K4

Step 5-If it does not say "Fit To" then click the drop down box & change it to K4 & click accept. Now clothing should move with figure. You may have to use morphs and such to adjust clothing fit due to poses and character morphs though.

Thank you so much for your help, Rose. The clothing is shown in the image I've attached. However, it's not under the scene tab. The only thing there is The Kids 4. I believe I'm doing something wrong in loading the clothing. When I go to the "actors, wardrobe, and props" tab, I am no longer able to load or even find the clothing.

Ok here's posing this is kinda rough & is pretty much basics. Step 1-Select figure (I'm using V4)

Step 3-pick a pose and apply it. That's pretty much it except any tweaks that may need done in parameter to adjust poses for clothing. That would need selecting the part that is needing adjusted and using dials/sliders to adjust.

Can you post me an image of your content library on your "actors, wardrobe, and props" tab? I'll see if I can help ya find where your clothing is.Also do you have the Poser format selected or the DS selected? Sometimes some clothing shows up there under Poser format. Also I just noticed in that screenshot it looks like you are actually in the "pose" folder for the clothing. You want a folder that says "figures" for the actual clothing items. Check that folder & see if you can see & load your clothes. The clothing "pose" folder is for adding like different textures to the clothes to look different & like this has poses for some of the clothing.

Here's a pic of my Actors, Wardrobe, and Props tab. The clothing does show up under Poser, but for some reason, I can't open/apply the clothing. The path is this: Poser Formats>Poser 10 Content>Materials>FK Materials>Kissin Cheeks 4>Winter Top. I can open the folder and see the choice of tops, but I can't get anything to actually load onto my character. I did check the settings for "Fit To____" as you suggested. Really appreciate your help. Thanks again. :-)
MarilynB posted Sun, 11 September 2016 at 3:44 PM
Here's another view showing the path, and the clothing. I can click on it, but can't apply it. I'm sure it's something so simple that I am probably doing wrong, lol.
Guardian_Angel_671 posted Sun, 11 September 2016 at 4:22 PM Forum Coordinator
Can you find this path - Poser Formats>Poser 10 Content>Figures>Kissin Cheeks 4>Winter Top for the outfit?I'm just rough guessing as I don't own item yet. Can you post me link to the outfit set you are using? I want to make sure that you have a full clothing set & not just a texture set. Also make sure that you aren't using an item that is a Poser dynamic item in DS as it won't work there.

Here's an example of where to load clothes from: Yours will be sorta similar but some names will be different.
: Poser Formats>Poser 10 Content>Materials>FK Materials>Kissin Cheeks 4>Winter Top is another folder for textures. These type are usually more poser specific but the files with very basic setup may work in Daz Studio though. But to use these files & those in the Pose folder -you have to have the actual clothing loaded from the figures folder in Daz Studio. You would load the clothing & then select clothing to apply the texture.

Rose, this is the link to the clothing I am using. https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/kissincheeks-for-k4/79940 Is it because these files are dynamic? I'm not sure what that means, but it appears that they are, lol.
Guardian_Angel_671 posted Sun, 11 September 2016 at 6:50 PM Forum Coordinator
The tops don't say dynamic & if you use the Conforming Skirt or the Conforming Skirt Pre-modelled for Sitting -you should be ok. That is the full set so I'd say you were prob trying to load outfit textures instead of the outfit. Did you find the figures folder & check for clothing there?

And I absolutely agree KristiS and JennBlake. I am sooo appreciative of the help, believe me! I've been struggling with this for some time, and I really hesitated posting here. I watched You Tube vids, looked up tutorials, etc. as I believe in trying to help myself first, instead of letting these good people just spoon feed me the info. I have been ready to tear my hair out just trying to find the information and I finally came to the conclusion that if I'm going to make it work, I'm going to have to ask for help. I guess where I'm stuck is on the dynamic clothing and the term 'inverse kinematics' is freaking me out a little bit, too, lololol. Rose has been so awesome to put up these screen shots and give me all of these detailed instructions. I am so grateful for the help!

ok humm this bit is tricky for me-can you click where it says general & get it ta open up so i can see if it has any different settings? or wonder if Fabi (the vendor) may know tips for this type pose? Also her arms can be moved out from her sides a bit to fix where they are poking into the outfit. This skirt looks like it's for sitting in chairs.

Here's the pose with her arm moved out a bit, and the General tab expanded. Do you see anything wrong with it?
MarilynB posted Sun, 11 September 2016 at 10:02 PM
It's interesting to note that no matter which I select, the shoes or the skirt, the bounding boxes will move when I use the sliders, but not the actual skirt or shoes. Do you see any apparent reason for that?
fabiana posted Mon, 12 September 2016 at 8:07 AM
Hello Marilyn and Rose. Unfortunately I am out of town so I can't send images. But will try to help. This dress used in the Ilonas promos is majorly the dynamic version and won't work using the dials only. It requires the dynamic simulation and is POSER ONLY. The pre modelled sitting dress version has to be loades and conformed to K4. Then you select the K4 and apply the base sitting pose. After this you can play with the other partial poses for legs and torso. Each pose has a matching dress morph so it will fit the pose as seen in the promos of the PRODUCT, not the Ilona's pose set. Hope this helps. But always remember that this product was not made for DS so is not given support for it. I cannot remember now but I couldn't make you sure that it was even tested in DS due its dynamic condition.
Let m know if I can help in any other way :)

Fabiana, thank you so much for your input. That will save me a lot of frustration, I'm sure. Everything you just said went right over my head, so I don't think I have any hope of posing this child in this dress. Would it be a violation of the terms of use to have someone else do it for me? Does anyone know? I don't want to do anything that's not allowed, but at the same time, I hate to have purchased all of the needed files and not be able to get the one pose that I need. I can't contact the creator of the files to ask. I've tried.
fabiana posted Mon, 12 September 2016 at 8:58 AM
Ilona is my friend and she recently lost her mom so for sure that is the reason for hers not getting back to you. However I will try to help as much as I can and if Rose (Guardian Angel) wants to help you with this I am totally open to grant her the use of the dynamic dress on your behalf. Just tell her to call Jenn and point her to this post from me and gift Rose with the product for this special needing you have. I will go ahead in Ilona's name also and say you can give Rose the pose you want to be used. I am sure this is ok for hers as for me.
I hope you can get the other poses working also. Let me know if I can do something else.
