Is there a way to render clothes in Preview without having transparent areas look dirty? I'm working with the Morphing Fantasy Dress. The transparent areas render fine in Firefly.

Ah, I seem to have discovered more about the solution and the problem.
The dirty areas look fine when I use brighter lights.
But it seems like a number of older mats for the MFD are transparent where they shouldn't be. I'm guessing this has something to do with changes to Poser over the years. Is there an easy fix, or do I need to play with each file?

Apologies for working this out in public. It seems different areas of the MFD have their transparencies wrongly set in Poser 11. The skirt seems to be most common.

NP. Glad you worked it out! It's a great heads up for others who are bound to discover this as well.

I find I'm tweaking a lot of textures in this version of Poser. Glad you worked it out. :)
