EZDome was released with the understanding that there would be no official support as I don't have enough time to do so any more. The hope is that the Poser community will embrace EZDome and provide mutual support in accordance with its fine tradition of helping each other out.
Nevertheless, I shall endeavour to help when I can :)
The issue you describe wasn't reported at any time in during the extensive testing of EZDome so it may be a quite different cause. If you provide more details (firefly or superfly? CPU of GPU rendering? Which figure? Which sIBL set? etc) then either I or somebody else may be able help fix it.
Cheers, Snarly

First many thanks for your replies.I am sorry I have not got back sooner but I am under the eye surgeons orders to limit my computer time as I have just had cataract eye surgery.Excuse my ignorance but Snarly says in his tutorial to " set the ground to be a shadow catcher" Can anyone assist me as to what this is and where do I find it in Poser Pro 11? I have included a screen grab. As you can see my subject is dark after turning the lights off according to the tutorial. Also I cannot get my bike to touch the ground.I have rendered in Firefly and figure is V4 WM on DAZ'S BMX Bike.If any further information is required, please let me know. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

First. The shadow catcher described by Snarky is strictly for firefly renders. Because of the pbr nature of superfly at the moment in Poser true shadow catching is not possible. I faked it with a glass like surface that I can't quite duplicate ... but am working on. Just use SG's shadow directions for firefly renders in the meantime.
Here is your instructions.
This should help you accomplish what you want.
We sort of cross posted ... I hope this helps any way.

The EZSun is linked (parented) to the EZDome, so you cannot change it, you would have to rotate the dome. The reason is that the EZsun is aligned with the direction of the sun in the HDRI. If you want a sun not aligned with the dome, just turn off the EZSun and create a new infinite light and you can rotate that one at will

Snarl! Welcome back! We talked a lot a few years back and then either you or I left haha. Now I too just started rendering again. I helped with some of your add snow to scene script testing :)
Anyway I tried the ezdome, everything loads up, but when I click Apply or apply changes the image is not added to the dome, it is left white. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
thatbumzzz posted Sat, 07 January 2017 at 12:08 PM
Maybe this is a clue, this is an error I received when I tried to add the sun:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "E:POSEREZDomeezdome.py", line 2875, in AddSun AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'SetLightType'
Also I am using Poser 11 Pro.
hborre posted Sat, 07 January 2017 at 5:37 PM Online Now!
If you are using Poser 11, you should hide the ground prop in your scene. Otherwise, you will not see the dome, the ground prop is blocking the view.

Yes, the ground prop is hidden.

EZOuter and EZInner are in the scene, should there be a third prop?
mercutioaquarius posted Sat, 07 January 2017 at 6:52 PM
I have same error. Lights are deleted, ground is invisible, dome created. In the props they are EZInner and EZouter. When I click on Apply it says: EZSun not found.
I click on 'Add sun', I get an error message: File "E:POSEREZDomeezdome.py", line 2875, in AddSun AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'SetLightType' I rename the now created light to EZSun, again Apply: Please check valid dome exists, and everything is black...

I have been unable to replicate these errors in either Poser 10 or Poser 11, so I need some help :)
First of all, can you advise me of the specific Poser versions, including build numbers, in which these issues are manifesting?
Secondly, please detail a step by step procedure from the moment you launch Poser to the point the error occurs. You may be doing something in a different order to that which I have tried.
Thirdly, would any of you be willing to run a special debugging version of EZDome which will display diagnostic information that may help me to solve this? If so, please sitemail me here at Rendo with the subject line EZDOME DEBUGGING and provide me with an email address to which I can send a new version. I shall send a zip file with a replacement script file and ask that you copy any diagnostic output to me.
Thank you, and my apologies for the delay in responding. In my defence I shall point out that the readme file did say this script was unsupported :) Still, let's see what we can do ...

hborre posted Fri, 20 January 2017 at 12:40 PM Online Now!
Did you skip a step? Where is the creation of the dome step? Clicking on either one of the three icons on the left side of the taskbar, in this case, the full globe is preferable. You can also hide the ground through the utility tab of EZDome. I was unable to duplicate any problems through my install. However, I noticed in the creation of the preset panel that the inner dome has an HDRI associated with it. If I am correct, it's the outer dome that provides illumination to the scene and the inner dome just the dome background, which can just be a plain jpg image. At least, that is what I get when I use sIBL. But if you don't have a dome in place, the preview background will show up white.

Step05: clicked on sphere.(third icon). I didn't skip. If I would skip, the background wouldn't be black. And EZinner and EZouter appear. The script can't assign texture for them. If I switch off the original light sources, when I click on Apply everything remain in black, the error message: EZSun not found. What is the EZSun? There isn't in my scene...

@mercutioaquarius: Thanks for the step by step guide. When I followed it, everything worked for me. However, your screenshots provided some important clues and they enabled me to determine which block of code was causing the errors. By artificially inducing the code to fail for me at the same point I was able to see exactly the same error messages as you have reported. So, no solution yet but some progress :)
For some reason one of the lines in the code block fails for you but not for me. I need help to find out why that is so. I repeat my offer: if someone experiencing this error is willing to run a debugging version of the script and report back the output, then I can fix this, most likely. Any takers?

No, no update. I asked for people who were willing to help me to fix this to sitemail me here. No-one did, so it isn't getting fixed.
If you can explain what must I do, I'd like to try the debugging version.
Send me an email (royston@snarlygribbly.org) with the subject: EZDome debugging I shall respond with an email containing the instructions and a new debugging version of the script as an attachment. It may take me a few days to respond as the debugging version hasn't been made yet :) Thank you for your help!

Is EZSkin still available? I can never find it :(
Miss B posted Sun, 09 April 2017 at 7:56 PM
Here you go --> EZSkin 3
Note: This version only works in P11/PP11. If you're using P10/PP2014, then you'll need EZSkin 2

Boni,
Thank you for your instructions for adding shadow catching to Firefly renders in EZDome.
However, when I look in my Primitives Library in Poser 11 Pro, I do not see a prop named "roundgroundplane". Can you suggest where I might find it?
Richard

- in EZDome add Sun for light.
- Library>props>primitives>roundgroundplane
- in the material room, Poser Surface root node bottom area is "shadow catcher only" check that box
This should help you accomplish what you want.
We sort of cross posted ... I hope this helps any way.

Hi Richard, in PP11 it's called Round Groundplane HR. The HR stands for High Resolution. Just out of curiosity, I checked my P9 Primitives and it's named the same.
I think the one word name refers to an old P8RoundGroundPlane primitive that was also available in older versions of Poser, but no longer available with P11/PP11.
Hope that helps.

Was the "EZSun not found" issue ever resolved because I'm having the same problem?
OS: Windows 10 64-bit, Poser: 10

There is now a build 054 for download which fixes some issues of the Poser Home Edition. Many thanks to ElZagna for helping me to fix it :)

That link is out of date. Try this: http://www.snarlygribbly.org/snarlyspace/ezdome.html
I also have an unpublished version with a shadow catcher but due to a bug in Poser it requires a somewhat clumsy workaround. If anyone wants to help test it then please email me - it won't be made properly available to the community until SM fix the bug.
