I wanted to mess about with a home made diffuser, after seeing so many on the net, I thought rather than copy someone else's, I'd come up with one of my own, well, here's an idea I had, then realised that there are a ton of “Tupperware” ideas similar to this, oh well what the hell right? This uses an Ovaltine jar, and it really does give a softer light, albeit still a bit harsh for shiny things, that said, I did have it camera mounted, I'll have to try it off camera radio triggered, or indeed triggered ETTL2 with my ST E2 IR trigger. Anyway here is another test shot I did with it on cam.

I think it may need some kind of internal baffle? Maybe some velum or baking parchment on the inside? The camo tape you see on the picture below is to help the plastic jar “Bite” onto the slippery plastic of the strobe. I used my third party Godox 860C Ving, didn't wan to put tape on my 58EXII. The modification to the jar is simply cutting off the label and the threaded top part. Here is another situation I used the hack in.
