I had to delete my Daz and start over, so am now installing my third party items again, and now I don't see them show up in Daz. I thought this was where I installed last time Can someone tell me where they would show up in Daz? which pull down menu and category? I'm really getting frustrated..

Hi, I would expect to find that in the Content Library Tab. I am not familiar with that product so I cannot be certain but that is where I usually look for the third party items. Did you refresh the files using that refresh option from the right click menu list? I know there is an option to auto refresh but.... I usually close Studio and restart it if I add lots of non-DAZ items at once.
I have started to put all non-Daz3d items in a separate library and then add that library to the list of DAZ content libraries. I find that works best for me.

Ah, that could be it, I didn't know about the refresh option. Thank you!

As I said in your thread at Daz, that's the Data folder and contains assets that are used by other content - none of those files are meant to appear in the content panes in Daz Studio, they are like the RuntimeGeometries folders in Poser.

sorry I'm a noob and that didn't make sense. I really need a good tutorial on where Daz puts stuff and how to find it. I'm getting really frustrated. I really don't think those items were in the pull down menus the first time I looked, and suddenly they are. Now I can't find expressions I installed. Looks like I am putting them in the correct areas but somehow they don't show. I spend more time trying to find things than actually creating. I'm about to give up. Edited to say, looks like the poses for some reason are under the poser pull down menu. Really confusing. I guess between the refresh option and looking at each directory, I'll eventually find what I installed. Need to go in and categorize and add metadata now. thanks everyone.

Stick with it. You WILL spend more time looking for things than creating...at first. When I came to DS from Poser, that was my exact gripe ;). Content management (or lack thereof depending on your point of view), is the biggest hurdle in DS. Don't give up. It'll get better. Just make sure you're installing things where they're supposed to be and you'll be able to find things, eventually. I know that doesn't help you for now, but baby steps will get you where you need to go ;).
DS is a piece of software where it's biggest makeup is content. It's gonna take awhile to migrate all that mess ;) FWIW, after a year and a half I don't have much trouble finding anything, and it didn't take that whole time to learn to navigate DS.

Which expressions? Some will not add anything to the library, instead they add new controls to the figure - under Pose Controls>Head>Expressions or the like in the Parameters pane.

Hi jennysmi Please don't give up. There are lots of people here that are very knowledgeable and will help. I know they helped me when I first started. RHaseltine is correct some items will only be under controls. Just remember being confused is the first step in learning.
