Subject: How to release limits on all morphs?

I'm willing to do it in a text editor if it comes to that, but I'm hoping there's an easier way. Anything is better than doing each one individually in the parameter settings. Googled it already, found people saying "I don't know if there's a way to do them all at the same time..." but there absolutely has to be.

More specifically, I'd like to know how to do this in a permanent sort of way so that each time I load them it is already done. Short of that, I'd settle for how to do it for the scene I'm working on. Right now I'm using Genesis 2 male and I guess that wouldn't be a Poser question but if anybody happens to know where that information is saved and what to change it to it would be a big help. Thanks.

If you're going to use a text editor, there's notepad++ which is free, however an easier way would be using Dimension3d's Poser File Editor which is here... It has a section under Editor, Morphs and Controllers. I've used it to remove channels and other things. Also under Insert Channel you can add Morph Targets. I've never tried anything like that on one of the Genesis 2 or 3's though... Once you've made your preferred cr2 you can save it for future use.

The dust settled, thinking "what a fine home, at least for now" not realizing that doom would soon be coming in the form of a vacuum cleaner.

Or the free Cr2 Editor, which also allows you direct access to the Cr2 file in an easy to see and edit format. I never leave home without it.

Ok. I should clarify that I don't actually know what I'm looking for. Although I get the basic idea, I don't actually know how to "read" a cr2. I was hoping somebody really experienced could tell me the exact phrase to search for and what to change it to.

Was going to answer, then saw it is a Genesis 2 figure so, maybe the usual approach may not work; but this is the way to get to the settings panel in Poser ( I don't know which version you're using, but mine is currently Pro 11:

Click on the little right-pointing arrow in the specific morph line in the parameter tab. A menu pops up. Click Settings, and the settings window opens up. You can change the limits there.

Definitely the simplest (if tedious) way. Don't forget to save the character so you don't have to go through it all again.

You could also download Cr2 Editor for free and at least have a look inside a Cr2. That should give you some idea of the way to go, also there may be some tutorials out there but I couldn't say where or even what they cover.

Here's a script by Cliff Bowman to do it for joints. Looking at the script I'm pretty sure it won't work on morphs, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.....

Thanks, everyone. The usual method does work, but that's exactly what I was tired of doing. I know that there logically has to be a location where such information is stored, probably somewhere in my Daz folder, and if I knew the exact code I could just use the "change all" function in my text editor and never have to worry about it again, and I'm feeling frustrated by the limitations of my knowledge on such matters. Was hoping someone might just happen to know. I've looked inside a cr2 before, and like I said, I get the basic idea, but I'm afraid I might break something if I try to guess what to do. I guess if I do I can always re-download him though, so I'm probably going to try to figure it out.

No worries about breaking the figure if you save a copy, rather than working on the original.

Usually the Cr2 is divided into 2 main sections; all the stuff you need is in the second part.

There's a line in each section which reads: forcelimits, which will either be set to 0 (no limits) or 1 (limits set).

Search and replace forcelimits 1 to forcelimits 0

Save out under a different name.

That's it for good and all.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. :)

AsteroidLady posted Sun, 18 December 2016 at 2:16 PM

Will that mess up the JCM's?

AsteroidLady posted Mon, 19 December 2016 at 1:30 PM

Next question: What specifically does the Poser File Editor do that none of the free file editors do?

SamTherapy posted Mon, 19 December 2016 at 4:06 PM

No idea to either question, sorry.

Re: the first one - try it. See what happens. After all, you can reload the original if it all goes horribly wrong.
