I render out an M3 character standing still on a rotating pedestal with a black background and it looks like a white outline and stars twinkling around him. How do I stop that? 3Delight render.

Make sure you are saving the images as PNG or Tiff and that your editor is using the alpha channel. DS 4 does not use pre-multiplied alphas - that is, the pixel colour of the anti-aliasing pixels around the edge is not mixed with the background colour - that avoids fringing when compositing, but produces a halo effect if you just view the raw image layer without the mask.

I am rendering direct to video. I have no video editor to assemble images into a movie.

Virtual Dub is a free video editor that assembles images into a video.

Makes a difference with what codec you are rendering to and which render engine. What you are trying to render also plays a part.
