Subject: How to Get Area Lights to Not Show in Reflections?

I have a room with big glass windows on 3 sides. I am lighting the room with 3 area lights, one for each window the same size as each window. In the material room, I added a Reflect node to the Alternate Diffuse input for the material for the window glass. When I render, I see the big white area lights in the reflections rather than what is outside. Is there a way to make the area lights not appear in the reflections but still light the room? I am using EZDome and I am using the area lights rather than the EZOuter prop to light the room because I find that Superfly renders much faster and less grainy that way.

Bad news is ... you can;t keep the area lights from showing in reflection. It is in the nature of a physical based render engine. Infinite lights are the only ones that don't reflect. The only way around is to use mesh based light ... or a different light set-up.

I do suggest a very bright infinite light (300 - 500) outside your Windows. I use this a lot, saves render time and graininess as well. I hope this helps.

Thank you Boni. I'll try that.

Very clever and very interesting, thank you for the link.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
