Hey, looks really great! Lot's of interest is brewing now in WW-2 history because of all the great WW-2 movies coming out. "Pearl Harbor" has MASSIVE publicity, some say up to or over $200 million is being spent on promotion. Their website is huge and they are even developing WW-2 3D Poser type characters. I know several Poser modelers working on WW-2 characters and I'm trying to get more, including soldiers and pilots of U.S., Britain, Germany and Japan. It's not about violence or ideology, just re-creating history like re-enactors do...Fox-Mulder posted Wed, 09 May 2001 at 10:07 PM

This website hasn't changed in two years at least. These characters are all P3. They never followed through in creating any more characters, (which was a good start,) but now they are all really outdated...polartech posted Thu, 10 May 2001 at 2:44 AM
Look really good - well done! Would be very atmospheric indeed if rendered in a package which enabled you to drop the ambient lighting, and get some moody directional stuff going.

I sure would like to see an RAF Pilot from the Battle of Britain, and a German Luftwaffe pilot would be great too...

Looks great Stevenb3D. It is exactly how I remember the operations room at Duxford, from my last visit. It is maybe slightly larger in your image than I remember, but I would think that anybody who has been to visit Duxford will recognise this room straight away :o) Great work, and please show us when your done. Cheers

Another promotional tie-in. For all the Poser modelers who haven't been paying attention to this movie, you are missing out on probably the BIGGEST single movie marketing program in the HISTORY of movies. DISNEY is throwing a FORTUNE into this. Most Poser and Renderosity modelers are totally missing out on a BIG opportunity, I think...Fox-Mulder posted Thu, 10 May 2001 at 5:58 AM

Another HUGE EPIC WW-2 Project- being filmed in the U.K. It's the most expensive television project ever nade... Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks have produced an epic 10-part World War II mini-series in association with HBO. Band Of Brothers is a true story adapted from the best selling book by Stephen Ambrose. Starting in 1942, the story concerns the soldiers of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division. It begins with their rigorous training in Georgia, follows them as they parachute into France behind enemy lines early on D-day morning, and climaxes with their daring capture of Hitler's fortified mountain chalet, the Eagle's Nest retreat at Berchtesgaden, Bavaria. Due for Release in November...Fox-Mulder posted Thu, 10 May 2001 at 6:04 AM

"Windtalkers" Director: John Woo Starring: Nicolas Cage, Adam Beach, Christian Slater, and Mark Ruffalo. Due out in September... Set during World War II, the film tells the story of a group of soldiers assigned to protect Navajo soldiers from being kidnapped by the Japanese, who use them to help break the code on top secret U.S. documents... Like "Pearl Harbor", much of "Windtalkers" was filmed in Hawaii...Jim Burton posted Thu, 10 May 2001 at 7:10 AM
Gee, what a great idea! Looks super so far! You may just not gotten to this point yet, but I would bet during the war they had tape crosses on all the windows, seemed to have been standard issue then.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. My goal is once I get a real modeling package Like Lightwave, 3D Max or Truespace, is to create aircraft for both the Allies and the Axis. Right now the only thing I have is Poser 4. I also like to try my hand and making some uniforms too. Maybe I can turn Michael into a fighter ace. Ill post more pictures when Im done. If anyone is interested in it, I can post the model and the props to Freestuff.

There's an inexpensive CAD program geared for making aircraft models for the Microsoft series of flight sim games. It's called Flight Sim Design Studio and is found at www.abacuspubs.com. Right now it doesn't support formats other than MS's BGL, but there's a good SDK for making conversions plug-ins and someone's already made an importer for dxf files. Now they owe me; I'm their competition. ;-) Cheers! Mark

Stevenb3D... Great looking scene so far... I've been to the command centers under Dover Castle (operation Dynamo fame)... you might want to dirty it up a little... right now it looks very stark, new, and sterile. Keep posting more WIP's this is very interesting
