I am not trying to be sarcastic, but this is one of the last works I did with Carrara. I was planning to make few scenes inspired from Jules Verne novels. This one was intended to show Captain Nemo and Professor Aronax walking on the ocean floor, to visit the lost city of Atlantis (20,000 Leagues Under The Sea). I never finished the project, but if I add A sunken 'CARRARA' text on the ocean floor, it could be a nice banner for this forum, or would it?

Nice render. I'm ready for summer also, the ice broke my rain gauge here in Houston.

nice renders diomede and doc Bernie - doc Bernie, rocks could do with a little more moss that you can also add to the sunken carrara :)

Besides Carrara, what else is in your toolboxes?
my goal atmo is to setup the big sets i want to use in my movie to render in under 5 minutes a frame. less time would be even better, but i want it to look nice too. i mean a baseline of under 5 minutes, before figures are added.
i think 1 step would to replace jpgs with simple shaders where possible. some of the shaders take too long, especially with sss. thinkin sss will have to be sacrificed. and don't need caustics for every scene. where there is water or crystal, yeah, but for an establishing shot, could do without it.

Not sure who you're asking, but ... Poser 11 Pro, Vue 2016, Particle Illusion, P3DO Explorer, Digital Juice (music, sound effects), Photoshop CS5, Marlin Studios Texture Sets, lots of 3D elements from DAZ and Renderosity, Magix Movie Edit Pro.

Will be adding Substance Painter to my toolkit. Woohoo. Taking a close look at UV mapping programs. Open to suggestions. I try Blender at least once per year but just can't come to grips with it. Have been using Hexagon a lot more lately.
dr_bernie posted Fri, 27 April 2018 at 4:39 AM
Considering Carrara for any animations other than bouncing balls and yo-yo thingies is a risky proposal. To do near-professional animations on the cheap and on the quick you use IClone.
Here are 4 very clips done with IClone 7.2. See this link, and this link, and this link, and this link.
IClone 7.2 is fairly new, so the artists who use it are still learning its impressive new features. But as time goes by there will be more and more very movies made with IClone and, with the upcoming IClone plugin for IRay, some of these very movies could well be near-broadcast quality.

Yes, I tried it long ago and just couldn't get comfortable. I'm not a modeler, but for creating short animations, Carrara is far and away my tool of choice.
