Subject: I need bullet physics help

I'm stuck Is it possible to do these things using Bullet physics? if so How?

  1. make a bullet primitive that will take the shape of a glass when dropped in it. It shouldn't be like water, but more like melted ice cream that has melted enough to take the shape of glass. Or like a solid gel that is heavy enough to take the shape of a glass

  2. make seat cushion or bed mattress that response to a figure sitting on it.

  3. to roll a ball around on a cloth sheet.

  4. To make breast move around in a the bra where the weight of the breasts shifts inside the bra without poking through the bra. Extreme example would be to turn the figure upside down and you can see the weight shift but the breast doesn't fall out. If this is something that has to be done with dynamic clothing then how would I restrict the movement of the clothing but not the breast?

  5. To make a balloon that simulates someone pressing it

  6. To have a face react to being punched.

7 To have a cold compress take the shape of what it's placed on. Like one of those old rubber bags that people would put ice in and use like a cold compress.

Any help on either one of this would be greatful.

I know it's a long list but I spent 8 hours trying to get this to work and I'm getting no where on this.

Oh one more. Bullet physics to make a water balloon. Ok that's it. lol

Not sure if I have the term right, but what you are describing for the most part concerns particle physics rather than bullet physics. Here are some resources for bullet physics and perhaps they can answer your questions better than I can.

Except for the ball rolling around the sheet. I think it would be faster and most likely better to make it work using morphs and animate them when needed.

(2.) Might be possible with bullet physics, haven't played that much around with it my self, but I recall a tutorial showing that you could make some jelly effect, so that might work. Using dynamics is also possible, but that would require that the objects you use are modeled with some sort of internal structure as Poser dynamic room doesn't have a balloon effect. I made something similar for my dynamic bed so should be possible for a cushion and mattress as well. And done correctly I think it could work quite well actually.

Ok. I have an update on my Quest.

I was able to sort of make this happen but I know I'm heading in the right direction and hopefully it's just a matter of adjusting the collision margins. for a better result. I don't have a picture of it at the moment because it's rendering. I don't think I need help on this one anymore. I probably just need to play around with clothing to see what I need to do to produce the same effect with clothing. In the Bullet Physics simulation I was able to squeeze the "gel" ball (it's more like a water balloon than Gel), by changing thee scale of the bowl that I was using.

  1. To have a cold compress take the shape of what it's placed on. Like one of those old rubber bags that people would put ice in and use like a cold compress. ACCOMPLISHED

I think the results from 1 will help me with this since the my "gel ball" was a failure and was more like a water balloon. It's looks promising so far. If I can "squeeze" a soft body with a prop then it's going to open up a lot of possibilities for me. I was never fond of using magnets.

I hope I'm a few more steps away from Muffin Tops and Love Handles. But for now I'll contain my excitement because I'm not there yet. I'll post the result of this once it finishes rendering. Starting to think I should have just don't a FireFly render instead of a Superfly.

This is the result of my first experiment. You can see in the picture that the object is taking the form of the bowl. The reason why it looks this way is because of the collision margins. They are currently too large but it does what I need it to do. The gel ball changes size based on the size of the bowl.

Here is another version rendered in Firefly. That shows what it looks like when the collision margins are reduced.

If the collision margin is too low then it will push it's way through the bottom or side of the bowl and ooze out. If the collision margin is too high then it leaves too large of a gap between the gel ball and the bowl. The picture below shows the issue I'm dealing with. You can see how part of the gell ball is starting ooze out of the ball. I'm not sure if this is an issue setting or a model issue.
